If you go to your Family Doctor you need to tell them exactly what you said here, except asking straight up for anything. The Doctor will ask you question like when did the anxiety start? you say it comes and goes, but I feel like something really bad is going to happen to me. They will ask you if you want to hurt yourself-no you don't, ever. Sad you have lost interest in everything. You just feel depressed. The anxiety is hell, when its over you feel so tired for days afterwords. You say the panic attacks usually happen in the middle of the night, or when you first wake in the morning.You worry about dieing, getting in car accidents etc..They will want to start you out on a low dose of a anti depressant.If this Doctor is liberal they will prescribe you a anti-anxiety med. They will pick one they are comfortable prescribing and that your insurance covers.Usually its a med, that ends in pam. Like Lorazapam, alorazapam.I probably spelled it wrong. Also Buspar is another. Do not even mention you would like these meds. you will not get them if they think you are a pill seeker.If the Doctor uses these meds, they will automatically offer it to you. If they do not believe in them, nothing you say will change their mind. But from what you described, you should be eligable to get them. This is what they are for. So you really do not have to lie. What ever they give you is pretty much the same as the xanax. Its all in the same family. They usually prescribe generic first.Dont be picky! Please do not get so comfortable with them, that you can not even get out of bed without one.They do give withdrawls if you take them constantly after awhile.Its not fun to be a addict or go threw withdrawls. So be wise. Take your anti-depressant as prescribed also. They will give you a 1 month supply, then have a follow up, and slightly increase the anti depressant and refill the xanax. A little background on my health. I have been under psych care for depression, anxiety, and panic attacks for nearly 12 years now. I had a great doctor who treated me my symptoms well. He would presribe me sleeping pills and xanax for my anxiety and panic attacks. He wasn't a great doctor because he would prescribe these, he was a great doctor because he really cared and listened, and didn't hesitate to give me what worked. I have life altering anxiety and panic attack and after trying everything there is to try only xanax calms me down. Well my doctor retired, and I have a new doctor. I'm telling my new doctor "I AM NOT SLEEPING I'M AWAKE EVERY NIGHT, AND I HAVE HORRIBLE ANXIETY AND PANIC ATTACKS." I need xanax and something to help me sleep, and he won't prescribe them. Ya i'm not stupid he thinks I'll abuse them or get addicted. Well you know what, I DON'T ABUSE XANAX OR SLEEPING PILLS. In fact I have xanax left over from years ago and the only reason I'm not using it now is because they are expired and I should probably throw them away. If i was a xanax abuser I wouldn't have left over expired pills, I would have swollowed them all in 1 week. Hello first to start off recently found out that I have anxiety one day I had a bad anxiety attack and thought i was having a heart attack but the feeling went away after about 15 minutes I get these attacks very offten now. And can't understand why I went to my primary doctor and told her what I was going trough she told me I have anxiety and gave me a referal to psychiatric doctor but I haven't had time time to go since I work so much I plan on going to one on Monday my day off I spoke to a friend about what I was going through and he suffers from anxiety too he is prescribed Xanax and gave me a few they helped but I do not like the effects of Xanax even from only taking a .5 mg I told him this and he told me to try valium 10mg and it works great for me I don't feel "high" groggy or the loss of memory that the Xanax gives you my friend cannot keep giveng me his Valium because he only has a limited supply every month that he needs for himself so my question is when I go to the doctor Monday I do not want to go in and say I been taking Valium illegally so the doctor would look at me like a junky looking for a fix I heard most likely these doctors will be quick to write a script for Xanax to treat anxiety and like I said I do not want Xanax so what would be my best option to say while talking to this doctor and to make him give me Valium.. please no negative comments if you have something bad to say or another drug in mind don't bother thank you and I hope someone can give me a good approach on my situation thank you again
