What Does This Essay Question Mean Its About German History.

What does this essay question mean? Its about German History.?

According to Siegfried Kracauer, the film The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari by Robert Wiene (1919) was revolutionary not only because of its expressionist form but also because of its political message. In your essay, briefly elaborate what this expressionist form consists of and how it reflects the movement as a whole. Then relate these general characteristics of Expressionism to the formal characteristics of Wiene's film and to the film's sociopolitical "message." This will require you not only to reflect upon the overall situation in Germany at the time, but also the comment upon Kracauer's view that the narrative frame added later to the film completely undermines its revolutionary impulse.

i just need to simple version of that. put it into a few sentences that actually make sense. thanks.

10th grade honors history WW1 essay question?

Commonly four major factors are identified as broad causes of World War I: nationalism, militarism, colonialism, and the alliance system. Based on the evidence you select, you can make a strong case for any or all of them. I believe the alliance system (particularly secret treaties) is perhaps the single greatest factor in causing the crisis of the summer of 1914 to become a prolonged world war. While the two major alliances (Triple Alliance, Triple Entente) were widely and publically known, the leanings of many lesser nations was not publically known. The Turkish Ottoman Empire had a secret agreement with Germany and entered the war on its side later in 1914. Italy was supposedly a member of the Triple Alliance, but it had a secret agreement with France and entered the war on the Allied side in early 1915. Britain entered the war in August 1914 after Germany violated the neutrality of Belgium, with which Britain had a treaty.

Militarism certainly played a big role in ensuring that the combatant nations would be prepared to wage industrial total war in 1914. All the major powers except Britain had widespread or universal conscription (the draft) in order to maintain standing armies of over 1 million troops. There was a bit of race to see which nation could support the largest standing army and produce the largest amount of armaments, particularly artillery and machine guns. Britain and Germany engaged in a naval 'arms race' in the decade before 1914, each trying to build the most new-style modern battleships (referred to as 'dreadnoughts' and 'battlecruisers').

Is this a good research question for my IB History Internal Investigation? "To what extent was the Treaty of Versailles a failure?"

I suppose it depends on what you want to do, really.  Not being overly familiar with the IB program, there's only so much I can tell you. With that in mind, the question you're proposing will take you into well-explored territory.  On the one hand, that means you're going to be able to find a LOT of resources on this and that should make things fairly easy on the research side.  The tradeoff is that it's harder for you to find space for your own ideas.  The best thing to do would be to talk to your teacher about exactly what's expected of you.  If you simply need to research a topic and write a paper on it, by all means go ahead with this.  If you're expected to produce something original, it might be best to find something else.  You might even be able to narrow this down more.  The Treaty of Versailles had a lot of moving parts and you might be better served focusing on one or two of its terms rather than the whole thing.  There is, after all, a reason why entire books are written on this question. No matter what you decide, I'll give you the same advice I give my own students: pick a topic that you actually care about.  If 20th century geopolitics, the end of World War I, and the causes of World War II interest you, then this is potentially a good topic.  If you're not really into the topic, find something else.  You will produce a better paper if you're writing something that you're passionate about so if you're only doing this because you think it's an easy topic, it will show in your final work.Good hunting!

How did the history of E.M. Foster lived through may have influenced his ideas about Tolerance? 10 points?

"Forster in the essay 'Tolerance' says that there are two possible approaches toward those whom we do not like. The first is the Nazi solution to kill or punish them. The second is the democratic and civilized way of tolerating them. Forster pleads the second viewpoint because after signing the peace treaty the English will the Germans. It is no more possible to exterminate any nation from this world. We must check fanaticism and spread tolerance if we want to rebuild this world as a peaceful and safe place."

"Forster helps much to understand the practical difficulties in the application of love in the world. According to him love may be practiced in private but not in public. Really it is very difficult to show love towards all sorts of men. Hence he concluded that love can be practiced in private and tolerance, a negative virtue though it is very dry and dull, can be practiced in public."

Was this a good/bad essay in response to the question "Why did peace eventually fail during the peace period?" (12th grade level)

Well,  it is a detailed essay, but perhaps overly complicated.  The world collectively learned a few  key lessons about peace from the Treaty Of Versailles which ended World War I. First, attempting to punish one or more of the parties (apart from punishing individuals guilty of war crimes), is a bad idea. Germany was held responsible for the War and forced to pay reparations to France and other parties, said reparations being so severe that it seriously impacted the German economy's ability to get going again after the war. This punishment bred resentment amongst the German people, who did not feel responsible for the War. In the 20's and 30's Hitler exploited this resentment to rise to power and commence World War II, partly to "set right" perceived wrongs from the Treaty Of Versailles (Hitler himself was a decorated combat veteran of WWI), fanning the flames of a nationalist pride along the lines of  "I will make Germany great again...". Second, treaties must be enforced. After the war, America an other countries entered a period of isolationism. We perceived things there to be a "European problem" ,"over there". Germany began to re-arm in violation of the Treaty and they were not confronted or stopped until they had a high technology, well trained military again. Even then, Prime Minister Chamberlain of England attempted to appease Hitler by letting him take land from his neighbors (annexing of the Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia - the Munich Agreement), which obviously didn't work. Had the Allies enforced the Treaty at that time and disarmed Hitler and  Germany, it would have been bloody, but nothing like the tens of millions who died in the ensuing years when Germany had completely rebuilt its military.
