What Houston School Are Close Tomorrow

I'm starting my senior year of high school tomorrow, how do I ensure I have a productive year and build habits that will help ensure success in my life after high school?

I just graduated so let me give you some tips:Sleep - Now that the junior year is behind you, senior year will be the year for you to get some quality sleep. Make sure that you get some because you’ll lose a ton of it when you start college.Time Management - This is crucial. Learn to structure your day as efficiently as possible because things get real tight when when you begin college. You may not be perfect at it but as always, practice makes perfect.Fitness - Build a daily routine of going to the gym and working out for 60 mins. You will thank yourself later in life.College Apps - This is extremely important. The sooner you get them done, the higher your chance of getting in. Also, make DO NOT slack off. Don’t make that mistake because if the colleges see a dip in your first semester grades, they can rescind your application. So, don’t slack.Teachers - Make sure you talk with your teachers and other school personnel that have influenced you in a positive way. Teachers put in a lot work in educating the next generation and get very little appreciation, so go on and appreciate them for their hard work.Reading - Make this a daily habit because you’ll be doing a ton of it in college.Fun - Senior year will be hectic. However, don’t get caught up in the work. Remember to have fun as it will be your last year of HS and you probably won’t meet many of your fellow seniors ever again. So, have fun and make friends!

Can school close by freezing rain?

Short answer: who knows
Best guide as to whether school will be closed is experience.
Has school been closed in the past with similar weather conditions?
If so, then you can reasonably expect school to be closed tomorrow.

Given freezing rain is such a rare event in your area, there's a better than even chance a general panic will ensue and everything will shut down for the day.

Longer answer:
Most school systems these days have a web site or presence on Facebook or Twitter where their operating status is posted.

Asker's time would be better spent checking those sources rather than a lame Internet weather forum where 'best answers' are decided by Member's with multiple accounts and their federation of sock puppets.

Most school systems do not have published guidelines about when to close schools because of inclement weather. The decision is left up to the judgement of school administrators or individual parents.

School closing hinges on a variety of factors such as whether the school's parking lots are clear, the heating systems can keep up with cold temperatures, whether snow is expected during the school day, and road conditions.

R&P: How's School...........?

Well today was pretty awesome cause we found out we don't have school tomorrow cause Hurricane Ike is hitting *straight* towards Houston, and there are massive pine trees where we live...

Other than that school's just....school. Nothing interesting....I *did* turn someone onto Pink Floyd today though...

How's school for you?

Dutch wings flight school Houston?

Let me repeat what Ozzie said because it is so important: DO NOT pay in full up front for the entire cost of any flight training program at ANY school. The personal financial risk you take is not worth the slightly lower rate.

Silver State Helicopters is a dramatic example of what can happen to students that pay in full up front. Look them up and read some of the stories about them. Some 2500 students had taken out $70K loans and paid it all to the school, and when the school went bankrupt they had no way to get their money back or complete their training. The school you picked looks fine, but even the slightest chance that something could happen and cost you tens of thousands of dollars is not worth it. It could even be the case that your own circumstances change and you do not wish to continue, or you need to move to a different school. No matter what, you don't want them holding onto all of your money. Pay as you go.

I also recommend searching on pilot forums. They will be much more likely to have members that have personal experience with any given flight school.

Have you ever been to Houston Texas?

i live not to far from it. you should come see me, i'll show you around.

What are some fun places to go to in Houston?

I can't even believe the negativity from those people while talking about Houston. there is lots to do as a family. First, the cockrell museum is a live biodome that you can go in to. In that same building is the IMAX. Musuem, and next to that is the children's musuem. Across the street is the hermann park which is next to the houston zoo. It is a lot of fun. Parking is free at the zoo. you can also take that train ride and it will tell you a little about the history of the park and surounding places. There is also a golf course right there too.
The person above is correct, Astroworld is not there but there is a splash town in old town spring. Lots of festivals and art shows and just different events every weekend.

the people above me must not get out much around here and really experience what houston has to offer.
I am out experiencing it weekly.

and I lived in Kemah. of course, that is fun!
moody gardens is as well.
hope this helps you
enjoy your stay

Is Houston a racist city?

YES! Houston is the most racist city ever. I have lived here 28 years and I dont know why people think “only white people can be racist.” That statement alone is racist. And you better believe they think that way in Houston. I spent one third of my life in Houston do far and 12 yrs in the hood and wow do they hate white people and white people dont care about each other here either. Being a white male here is very tough here unless you carry the spineless status quo of left of center mentality while agreeing with whatever ignorant stuff people say…then you are accepted. Dont have a strong political opinion. $50 says if you take the moral high ground they will preach the Gospel of sin loving ignorance at you and just advertise pure evil. I meet the most hacked up “Christians” here…seriously wow. I have met gay Christians, atheist agnostic Christians (yeah I dont it either) and spiritual but not religious Christians which means the write their own Bible. It took me a long time to accept that no one here is saved based on the Bible. There is no Bible belt and most religious people will throw Jesus and ther neighbor under a bus if it helps them be accepted for 5 uncomfortable minutes of conversation. How sad. Now one believes anything. They just want to be comfortable while getting fat and drinking their kidneys to death. They believe in “Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die.”People suck nowdays. I cant find a single person who supports anything moral unless they can personally benefit from it and not pay for anything instantly. The reason why others in this tread dont share my experience is because I am Republican. See if you are a white liberal you get a pass, but if you are a white conservative, well here come the flood waters. So tired of it. I am working on moving. I just have to get myself setup and leave. I will miss my family and still visit them, but I cant stay. I know everything about Houston and boy does it suck. My god this city sucks!!! Dont move here if you value anything based on family values, self respect or decency. If you have social skills, they will be wasted here. There is no Southern hospitality. That died in the 1970’s and is just your parents memory. Houston is like LA. People provide poor friendship and short lived. No one is from here. They dont like each other, but they still need strangers to constantly notice and approve of their excessive overpriced overvalued overtaxed poorly made trucks and homes.Get me out of here.

What is it like to be in Houston in the wake of Tropical Storm Harvey?

First of all, there's no wake- it's still gonna be hitting us tomorrow (Mon. 8/28) quite possibly until Thursday. And in a nutshell, it's pretty terrible, but there are some things that I'm grateful for.My house is flooded, our second floor is quite possibly also flooded, and all my sister’s important documents, clothes, and basically her entire life for the past six years is most likely destroyed by water. And on a more personal yet petty note, my upright piano that I worked damn hard for is most likely damaged beyond repair. Not only that, but they are gonna release the Addicks Dam in 2 1/2 hours. That's gonna raise the level of the bayou (which I live right next to) four to six inches per hour, which means that the water in my house is gonna raise that much. The last time I saw my house- about 18 hours ago- the water was already up to our doorstep. But, there are some things to be grateful for- we managed to escape in time, and right now we are at a friend’s house two minutes down the road from our house, and we are safe, dry, fed, and comfortable. However, at the same time it's hard to hear about your friends suffering. One of them lost her entire house to the floods already- she lost her art, her school supplies, and her entire room, and all she has right now are a couple changes of clothes, some of her important documents and a few of her valuables, and I can't help her.My other friend is housing 15 of her neighbors in her house, and she hasn't checked in for a while. I'm scared the water has gotten to her house, and I'm scared that she isn't gonna be ok.So to sum it up, it's not good at all. I'm feeling scared about the potential loss of much of mine and my family’s belongings, helpless, slightly guilty for being safe when so many aren't, very guilty that I'm worrying about the comparative small amount of damage in my house when people have lost truly everything. At the same time, I'm feeling so grateful to our friends for taking us in, cooking food for us, and for helping us out. It's not a good combination of feelings, and I just want to sleep, but the extreme humidity in the air and the worry for my friends and my house is keeping me up.

What are the traffic patterns in Houston, TX?

Others have spoken of the congestion that is Houston’s many highways, and I’ll add my take on the one I traveled five days a weeks for years and years - Hwy 290. This route takes you directly from Houston to Austin, with few stops along the way except for Giddings, TX, whose local constabulary decided NOT to switch out the numerous traffic signals during an earlier hurricane evacuation, causing a traffic backup of miles. But that’s another story.Hwy 290 (or 290, as it’s known, or “I Hate 290” according to the bumperstickers) has been under expansion construction for a number of years now, resulting in travel times that have slowed to a crawl. What used to take 10–12 minutes can easily take 30 during rush hour, and it’s worse if you’re going with rather than against traffic. Adding to the congestion is the current lack of shoulders (emergency lanes) for long stretches - if there’s an accident, even a minor two-car fender-bender, traffic can stop for ages. And there are no real alternate routes to get from point A to point B during rush hour.Of course, it doesn’t help that the only public transportation for most of the city, especially out to the (massive) suburbs, is the bus. We’ve been arguing about adding light-rail for years, but the pocketbooks of the local politicians are influenced heavily by construction firms. Most of us stick to the larger streets and avoid the highways as much as possible.
