What Is A Detached Sentence

What are the pros and cons of this sentence?

Con: It is detached and evasive from almost any angle. If someone approaches you with a grievance and this is your reply, you probably will be slapped.If this formulated in expectation of a grievance then it was intentional all along. You identify vagueness and nevertheless continue to use vagueness. It starts looking very calculated. You basically take no responsibility, not even for your ambiguousness, which is the very least you should apologise for and not embellish. Time to talk straight and show some empathy. The person you have pissed off will not appreciate the beauty of your construction, believe me. And if this is writing for a fictional situation, the same applies. Believable only when it is followed by some serious blowback.

Detached in a sentence?

i dont mean like taken apart detached. its like emotionally detached. the definition is
detached- unconcerned

so like emotionally detached. have any sentences? not really long ones. thanks.

What is a detached observer?

Someone who has no stake in what's going on. So for example, if you and I were running for a political office, we wouldn't be detached observers at a rally for either one of us. An uninvolved third person who had no ties to either or us or our campaigns would be a detached observer.

Can you use antebellum in a sentence?

The style of housing in the middle class areas of most UK cities during the antebellum period before the Second World War consisted of large numbers of semi-detached houses with just a few fully detached ones.

How would you use the word discrete in a sentence?

discrete = separate, different
discreet = secretive, tactful

What is the meaning of this sentence?

"Dim" means "dark" or "obscure". But in the context of your book I would think that the author means that he doesn't clearly remember the exact place where he was standing.
"Sweep" is what you generally do with a broom but in his case, he did it with his eyes, passing from one point of the horizon to another in a "sweeping movement".
"Detached" means "separate" In the context of climbing, that would mean that he was standing on a level or a rock that was sticking out from the mountain cliff. from that spot, he could clearly see the landscape below.

The whole sentence: The author explains his feelings of admiration for the beautiful (spectacular) view of the earth (landscape) from a resting area (horizontal rock) on the cliff of the mountain he was climbing.

You can use MS Word to find synonyms of words: type the word, highlight it and press Shift + F7 for the thesaurus. It helps a lot.

Is there anything wrong with this sentence?

Yes, this sentence is not effective.Incredible/accomplish/achievements - piling it on. They are all saying much the same thing.For decades in only four years - confusing, ungrammaticalAchievements/striving - a mismatch. You strive to do a thing which is an achievement. You do not strive for achievement as such.Such a young - the word “such” has no real job to do. It is a young company. That makes the point sufficiently, without implied comparisons. You don’t want to say “this is only true because of the magnitude of the youngness, less youngness would not be the same”. It is a stronger statement to just say young and leave it at that.Others - Other what? Other young companies? All companies? We don’t know who has been striving, and so it does not impress.for which - awkward. The sentence should flow, not have a test at the end to see if you remember what the “which” referred to.Personally, I would break this up into two sentences.

How would you use the word arid in a sentence and relate it to the book To kill a mockingbird?

here's a quote from the book that uses the word 'arid'.
i'm sure you can create a sentence from this:

"'It's not an easy question Miss Mayella, so I'll try again. Do you remember him beating you about the face?' Atticus's voice had lost it's comfortableness; he was speaking in his arid, detached professional voice. 'Do you remember him beating you about the face?'
