Help on a creative attention getter for Beowulf essay??? A little help?

Through out history the majority of humans have always suffered a lack of self confidence, and they seek to fill this void through the security of a strong, confident, very courageous hero to whom they can call on for support in times of need.

I hate writing and its not very "creative" but its actually quite difficult for me to come up with a hook line for that one off the top of my head. Maybe my suggestion would even go better in your conclusion.

What are some examples of attention getters for an essay?

Don’t just aim for an attention-getter. The real goal is to pull the reader into the essay, to engage the reader. Some people like to use anecdotes, though I feel that anecdotes often are overused. To be effective, an anecdote has to relate to the theme of the essay, and engage the reader in the first sentence. It can’t meander. Later on in the essay, you can use looser anecdotes, but not at the beginning. Some writers will begin with a question. That’s very dangerous if you’re not sure that the vast majority of your readers are going to: (1) answer the question the way you anticipate, and (2) find the question engaging enough to continue reading. What I’d suggest is read the opening lines of some famous novels. No, they’re not essays. But they’re written not just to grab attention, but also to pull the reader into the story. Get a sense at how these authors engaged readers from the first sentence. Here are a few:It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen. —George Orwell, 1984 (1949)Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buendía was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice. —Gabriel García Márquez, One Hundred Years of Solitude (1967; trans. Gregory Rabassa)If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth. —J. D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye (1951)I had the story, bit by bit, from various people, and, as generally happens in such cases, each time it was a different story. —Edith Wharton, Ethan Frome (1911)The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there. —L. P. Hartley, The Go-Between (1953)

How can I make a good attention grabber?

Attention-grabbing introductions can draw your reader in and encourage them to keep reading. Grab the reader’s attention by opening with a quote or fact. Asking a question or presenting a strong statement can help keep your reader engaged. You can use one of several techniques, such as a surprising statistic, a generalization or even a story. you need to make sure that your hook either supports your thesis or provides an opposing stance to which you can argue. When you are asked to write an essay, it doesn’t mean that you don’t get to express your own thoughts and creativity. An essay shouldn’t be boring or too formal. As a writer, your first priority is to make sure that you are keeping your audience in mind and writing for them and to them. That means grabbing and keeping their attention so that they want to read every word. The quote should explore your topic in detail or expand on the theme of your paper. It can also provide background information on your topic. stay away from quotes that are too vague and do not relate to your topic, such as “Life is hard” or “Love is blind.” Instead, use a quote that puts a new spin on a cliché or relates to your topic in a detailed, specific way. Pick a fact that your reader will find shocking or troubling. Find a fact in your sources or the text you are discussing. The fact may include statistics and data that will be surprising to readersDefinitions straight from the dictionary can be dry and boring. Take a standard definition and paraphrase it. Write it in your own words so it sounds more interesting to readers. Depending on the style of essay you are writing (narrative, persuasive, personal, critical, argumentative, deductive, etc.), the type of hook you will want to use will vary. The right choice can make your paper truly interesting and worth reading.
