What Is Conventionally Grown Fruits And Veges And Are They Bad

What is conventionally grown fruits and veges, and are they bad?

Im 13 and I eat lots of fruits and vegetables but they are conventionally grown. Is it bad? My mom says organic is to expensive. I want to know if the conventionally grown ones still give me good health values like help my bones and make me grow

Is it significantly bad for my health to eat fruits & vegetables from the grocery store without washing off the pesticides?

No.Supermarket fruit and vegetables have virtually no pesticide residue, either on the surface or inside. It matter not whether it is organic or conventionally grown. Any pesticide residue (if present, often is not) is several orders of magnitude lower than the minimum needed to affect health. The US FDA and EPA regularly sample and test for residue (an ongoing program) and their results are quite encouraging. There is no risk of pesticide health effects on food purchased at supermarkets. Roadside stands and Farmer’s Markets may be different. Big box supermarkets are safe. There is a risk of contamination from post harvest handling. Sorting and packing machinery are not always kept as clean as they should be. Humans handlers accidentally contaminate the food from their hands and clothing. And how many other shoppers have picked up that piece of food with their bare hands then replaced it in the bin?Wash your food when you get home from the store.

Are fruits and vegetables from grocery stores healthy?

Large chain grocery stores now carry organic produce. Some farmer's markets carry non-organic produce. So the point is you need to be an informed consumer.
Produce w.a thick skin that is removed before cooking or consumption is less toxic than those that are not thick skinned. These are some to buy organic: celery, apples, grapes, berries of all kinds, bell pepper, kale, potatoes, spinach, peaches, cherries, nectarines. I try to buy all raw salad greens organic, but bananas aren't as bad, as the skin is thick. Of course, organic or not, washing the produce is a good idea.

Can you grow fruits and vegetables in regular dirt, without the fertilizer?

Yes, if the regular soil has the proper nutrients to start with it doesn't need fertilizer. In fact adding fertilizer to soil that has an adequate level of nutrients can be just as bad for plants as not having enough. It is recommended to test your soil before adding any fertilizers.

What happens if you forget to wash fruit or vegetables before eating them?

i bought some grape tomatoes and just started eating them, and forgot to wash them. what will happen to me? i almost want to go puke.it clearly says wash before using and i forgot to. . .is this bad? serious answers only please

Do organic fruits and vegetables still have to be rinsed if they are 100% organic?

Okay, first of all, ‘organic’ is a nonsensical term in this usage.or·gan·icôrˈɡanik/adjective1.of, relating to, or derived from living matter."organic soils"synonyms:living, live, animate, biological, biotic"organic matter"2.PHYSIOLOGYof or relating to a bodily organ or organs. So, everything you eat, outside of minerals like salt and chemical abominations like Twinkies are organic. I know what the back to nature types are trying to say, but they should really find a less silly way to say it.Unless you picked it out of your garden yourself, any fruit or vegetable should be washed, and and is a good idea even then. Who knows what animal shat on it? Washing your food requires minimal effort and is always the best plan.

Is it worse to wash fruits & veggies with dish soap rather than plain water?

@ Mike a lot of the nutrients and vitamins and antioxidants are concentrated in the skin of an apple...I dunno about peaches or potatoes, I will have to double check

Dear LOA,

I never eat conventional fruit and veggies anymore unless I have to because it seriously tastes bad...I can taste the waxy junk and pesticides so I won't eat it unless I have to. FUNNY how we call foods farmed with crazy pesticides 'conventional' lol and organic ones non conventional....when you think about it aren't organically farmed ones the kind that my grandparents grew...these funky gmo veggies that were pretty much created in a lab and have junk sprayed on them (once again created in a lab) are now termed 'traditional/conventional'. Weird. Then people tell you that you are paranoid and a conspiracy theorist if you want to eat organic food lol. For instance, my family is worried about me because I won't eat their food...their fruit and veggies taste bad to me...? I sometimes eat their bananas but that's pushing it lol and only if I am starving.

Same thing with soaps. We are getting a little carried away in the laboratory if you ask me. We shouldn't be coming up with bizarre chemicals in the first place. WHo knows...maybe we should be curious enough to want to invent new ways of doing things, but something about it doesn't feel right (or taste right) to me. I wouldn't wash your fruit/veggies with soap.

But I'm a weird one, venturing on the outskirts of what this world considers sane lol. Yet I find comfort in that lol.

LOVE you <3

@ saneyaya
I love Dr. Bronners...I use it for everything :)) Laundry detergent, dish soap, hand soap, and shower gel lol lol
