What Is Needed To Start An Army Jrotc Saber Team

JROTC Sabre team, what does it do.?

When I was doing the monthly rifle closet inspection in JROTC, since I'm the Marksmanship Captain, I was going through the cabinets, and I noticed 2 Sabre's in there. I went to my instructor, the S.A.I. and asked him, since I saw a Sabre Team preform as a honorary unit to introduce Veterans though the flags. I also noticed that there is a Arc Pin, and I have the Marksmanship arc pin, drill team arc pin, and Color Guard arc pin, That there is a Sabre Team Arc Pin... I was very interested in this.

I asked Major, if I got people that would be willing to join, could we order 4 more Sabre's to have a total of 6, and have a Sabre team. He said he sees no reason why not.

My question is, what does the Sabre team do, do we do drill competitions, how do you get the arc pin.

What team(s) are you in for JROTC?

JROTC has plenty of different teams you can join. In my AFJROTC unit we had unarmed drill team, a marching unit that performs routines based on military drill. Color guard, cadets who carry the national color, other flags appropriate to its position in the chain of command, and rifles, during events, functions, and sports games. Saber team, Cadets who carry sabers during events, and “Commandos”, cadets who compete in physical, and survival competitions. When I was in JROTC I was on the color guard team for most of my four years, and I was also in commandos for one year.

How can I get better at JROTC drill team and/or Color Guard (Marine Corps)?

practice is the best way to get better just practice the movements on your own, i was on the drill team (armed and unarmed) and i wasn't all that good my first time around but got better with alot of practice on my own time, ended up as a company commander and drill team commander just put alot of effort into it and you shouldn't have any problems, and a pellet gun is a good thing to practice breathing control, sight picture, and trigger squeeze with

Can I get a JROTC Drill Team Scholarship?

Well I have be an Armed Drill Team commander for 3 years now (Sophmore, junior, and senior year). I am currently a LET 4 and i am wondering if i can get a scholarship just to go to a college and be on there drill team?

Today, my JROTC Sergeant walked over to me and asked me if he could "slam me against the wall," and I quickly but playfully said, "Naaahh…" Should I be concerned about his motives?

Possibly. My old Sergeant would minorly hurt us in good faith (usually by fist bumping us with his wedding ring, or a very hard high-five or back slap), but nothing like that. (Then again, I go to an all-boys school.) I know it’s rare, but sexual misconduct does happen between cadets and instructors. My SAI’s old school had an AI arrested for sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old cadet. I wouldn’t outright avoid him, but just take care and be extra mindful in your interactions for now, and if need be, inform your senior instructor or even Cadet Command/school faculty if it gets that far.

Questions about Army Jrotc in highschool?

1. Depends on the battalion and their SOP. My battalion only wear garrisons now.
2. Berets. Officers wore them, and team commanders.
3. Some may, not all.
4. Army doesn't wear BDUs, we wear ACUs. And there have been a change in the ROTC uniform, instead of the Army Green Uniform, they have switched over to Army Service Uniform, ASU, but probably won't take effect for awhile. More info here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110527020005AALJz13
5. Also depends on your battalion.
6. From off the top of my head, I can only remember - Red-Drill Team; Tan-Rifle Team; Orange-Honor Guard; Yellow-Academic (or federal inspection)
7. There's no fast way. You must attend all promotion boards and overall be an outstanding cadet. I got ranked up for outstanding behavior, but then again every battalion is ran differently.

What Color/kind of Berets are JROTC Cadets Authorized and unauthorized to wear?

My Army JROTC unit regs say that we can wear red (Saber Team), white (Color Guard/Honor Guard/Drill Team),and blue (Batallion Staff), but only if you are with a special team or on batallion staff. We are not allowed to wear black (Army), maroon (Airborne), green (Special Forces), or tan (Rangers) because the actual Army wears them.
