What Is One Of Your Favorite Bands Of All Time

Your least favorite band of all time...?

Howdy pyromancer--

Sucking is something a LOT of bands have done over time, and going back to my own childhood (or at least the period when I could actually get into music beyond the Mickey Mouse Club, I recall hearing "California Dreamin' " by The Mamas And The Papas on the radio seemingly ALL the time, and despite the fact that my ears were untrained in the way of pitch recognition when I was 4 years old in 1974, I could STILL tell these morons blew, and that transverse flute solo in the middle of it hurt my precious hearing as much back then as it does now. So for my mid-70s suck-o-rama, chalk one up for TM&TP, right along with that insufferable a$$hole that was also polluting the airwaves at the time, Barry Manilow. The latter needs no further introduction; hell, if your initials are "B.M.", if you're not mayor of Turdsville, then you're on the city council.

The 80s... Again, no shortage of manure in sight, but at the top of the heap, I'd definitely put the MTV poser crews like Right Said Fred and Milli Vanilli. These "bands" sucked so bad you won't even see the ex-members on an episode of "Where Are They Now?", as even MTV doesn't want to be associated with the likes of them anymore. So on my 80s suck-o-meter scale of 1 to 10, RSF and MV each rate a 35. What the hell, I'll even throw in MTV itself on the turd heap for propelling these sewer bugs to any degree of commercial success.

90s... Gotta agree with you there; Korn, along with pretty much all of the Nu-Metal movement (as in "bowel movement") were, and still are (for those who are still around), entities who deserve to be locked into portable toilets and set on fire. Personally, I think sucking even worse than Korn for this period would be Limp Bizkit. Won't somebody please volunteer to rip Fred Durst's red baseball cap from his empty head, dip it in honey, jam it up his a$$, and sit him atop an anthill coming out of hibernation? Please?

For the present era, my list is WAAAYYY too long, but I can sum it up to one category: those hip-hop fackers who wave their stacks of one dollar bills around on TV as if to say "Lookit what we got and you don't!" Thanks a lot, Mr. band-aid-on-a-fake-injury, but there's something else you got that I don't: HIV from your hoes. You can keep that too.

Ahhh... That was refreshing! Any more cool questions for us, pyro? :)

Make no mistake, i'm completely hooked in this music. My iTunes says that i've got listened to it 316 cases over the final month, and that i nonetheless won't be ready to get sufficient of it. universal Band Linkin Park, because of the fact no different band can mixture in such rather some categories of track in the style of unique and spectacular way. additionally, the feelings expressed in the songs are paralleled in the character of the track, a rarity between different musical communities. in the top, What i've got carried out, Shadow of the Day, leave out all the rest, New Divide, Numb, those songs are all mind-blowing, and the better section is that each and each has a various sense to it, in assessment to the songs from countless the different bands which rather sound comparable.

What’s your favorite band of all time and why?

Pink Floyd.I feel they are the pinnacle of creativity and technical capability. They would jam with each other for countless hours, and so are very intuitive of one another (I find that especially so for guitarist David Gilmour and keyboardist Richard Wright). The dynamic between those two and their instruments are mind blowing. They are all masters of their instruments and masters of sound, I imagine as a result of being very disciplined musicians, as well as their education in the field of music theory. They would spend lots of time in the studio gaining mastery over production as well, which is why their music stands the test of time. I like how their albums are very concept driven, as opposed to just a collection of songs, in that way I can put an album on and be taken on a journey. To fully appreciate Floyd you can’t simply listen to it, you have to experience it.Roger Waters (bassist) wrote the majority of the lyrics, if not all them, and his insight into the world, and life, and people, coupled with his ability to poetically, yet in a straightforward manner, articulate those views in verse, resonate with me deeply and have taught me much about the world and about life. Gilmour wrote the majority of the music I believe but Roger Waters was the brains behind how it was organized to give that feeling of experiencing something greater than just songs. In short, I am the man I am today due to the influence this band has had on my life.

What are your top 10 favorite bands?

The Beatles - each album is either really good or classic.Jimi Hendrix - because of his influence on every rock n roll and metal guitar player who came after him.Led Zeppelin - the quintessential rock n roll band. Their musical virtuosity allowed them to play power rock, along with complex acoustic numbers and hard-edged blues. When I think of rock n roll, Zep is the band that comes to mind.Jethro Tull - their first 10 records were excellent, their sound was totally unique. If you haven’t heard their oldies in a while check out any of these ten: This Was, Stand Up!, Benefit, Aqualung, Thick As A Brick, Passion Play, War Child, Living In The Past, Minstrel In The Gallery, Songs From The Wood.Genesis (with Peter Gabriel) - The albums Trespass, Nursery Crymes, Fox Trot, Selling England By The Pound and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway are among the greatest Prog rock records ever produced.Steely Dan - In the ‘70’s, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker never produced a bad record, used different studio musicians on every album and successfully combined rock n roll with jazz. Their first eight albums are nearly flawless. The Kinks - well known, but ridiculously underrated. Ray Davies is a great songwriter and the band produced some really good songs.Yes - great musicians from top to bottom. The late Chris Squire (bass), Steve Howe (guitar), Bill Bruford (the original drummer) and Rick Wakeman (keys) should be on any top 10 list. Jon Anderson’s vocals were a perfect fit, helping to round out their sound.Pink Floyd - unique, atmospheric, progressive sound and the best music to listen to when really high! The Who - like Zep, the quintessential rock n roll band made up of some of the greatest rock n roll players of all-time. Townsend is a great songwriter and can play every instrument, the late John Entwistle was a beast on bass, Keith Moon was wild on drums and Roger Daltrey was the prototype lead singer.Other bands who deserve a mention are The Beach Boys (great harmonies), CCR (for their unique sound), The Allman Brothers (among the first country rock jam bands) and ELP (the first band to successfully mix classical music with rock n roll).

What are your top 5 favorite rock bands of all time (this can include all genres pertaining to the term rock, such as metal or punk)?

A Finnish answer with Finnish bands nobody has ever heard of:1 Sielun veljetA shamanistic band that can’t be classified. They brought some exstatic and “shamanistic” performances to the stage and a lot of their music didn’t have real lyrics, they were sometimes rather some strange spell-like monotonous word repetitions. I enjoy it very much.Sielun Veljet - Wikipediasielun Veljet - YouTube2 Juice Leskinen Grand SlamJuice Leskinen is the corner stone of Finnish rock. He had several bands. Grand Slam is regarded to be the The band he had. He gathered first class musicians and they created music that combined Finnish schlager music, accordion music, some folk influences and rock. The band that has had the strongest influence in my world view. They have published one record in English too, but it wasn’t any great success.Juice Leskinen Deep sea diver on YouTube3 HurriganesTe band who I regard to be the founders of Finnish Rock in the 70s. They played more or less classic rock’n roll and they performed in “English”. They couldn’t actually speak English, so it was some kind of “wannabe English”. But none of us cared really, we were just dancimg to their music and their almost-English lyrics also gained some kind of cult fame. These original lyrics have been presented in some museums too, and you can see an example here: Redirect Noticehurriganes - YouTube4CCR / Creedence Clearwter RevivalAbsolutely the most important foreign band to me. I’ve listened to it for 47 years now and I haven’t got fed up with it. This band gave me the idea of rock and directed my interest in music for decades.5 The DoorsI actually started to listen to this band only when I was a young adult and I got enough in a few years ans stopped listening to them, but they had a strong inluence on me anyway.I found it hard to name even these bands. I’ve never thought of it, but I learned that I actually listen to the artists. I could name alot of artists, individual singer-songwriters, but not bands. I scraped this list together because I wanted to mention those few Finnish bands :-)

What is your all time favorite metal/rock band?

For me it’s Pink floyd and Led Zeppelin. I consider them as the most influential rock bands for the foundation of most genres that are currently existing.Pink floyd on one hand is a progressive and psychedelic rock band with quite a bit of a melody while Led Zeppelin are famous for their heavy, guitar-driven sound, rooted in blues and psychedelia on their early albums, which earned them recognition as one of the progenitors of heavy metal.Pink floyd and Led Zeppelin are the bands of 60s, still their songs have influenced many young ones to persue their musical interest. There are hardly few rock/metal band artists who haven’t heard of these legendary bands. Many famous bands of my country still play their songs as a tribute.Me as a guitar player, I recommend people to learn to play their songs keeping it as a prime priority. I recall many beginner guitar players trying to play their riffs and notes. It’s quite exciting to play their songs. Most of all I like to play ‘Shine on you crazy diamond’ of Pink floyd and ‘Stairway to heaven’ of Led Zeppelin in a guitar!
