What Is The Best Fruit/vegetable To Feed This Dog

Do you feed your dog with fruits and vegetables?

We love to share food with our dogs, and since fruits and vegetables are healthy for us, we often assume that they’re healthy for our pets, too. This is often the case, but that certainly doesn’t mean it’s always the case. In fact, there are some fruits and vegetables that are toxic to our dogs. The main issue with fruits and vegetables is that people seem to think that just because its “healthy” for humans it must be great for a dog, right?. Dogs digest differently than humans, and eating the wrong foods can lead to long-term health problems and, in extreme cases, even death. As carnivores, they have no need for fruits and vegetables as part of their diet, but an occasional fruit or veggie as a treat is OK. Lets go over the most common. The Good and The Bad:Apples – Good. They are the most common fruit in the home. Apples are an excellent source of vitamins A and C, as well as fiber for your dog. They are low in protein and fat, making them the perfect snack for senior dogs. Just be sure to remove the seeds and core first.Grapes – Bad. The understanding of how grapes affect dogs is actually recent, but it’s been discovered that they’re associated with canine kidney failure. Keep in mind that raisins are dried grapes so be sure to never confuse the two.Carrots – Good. Carrot sticks are widely considered to be a healthy alternative to traditional dog treats. Some vets even recommend cold carrots for teething puppies as a way to relieve teething discomfort, and large frozen carrots make cheap and edible chew toys. Chewing on carrots can even help improve your dog’s dental health.Onions – Bad. According to ASPCA, Onions can cause gastrointestinal irritation and could lead to red blood cell damage.Avocado – Bad. It contains toxic principle known as persin. Avocado is primarily a problem for birds, rabbits, donkeys, horses, and ruminants including sheep and goats. According to the ASPCA, dogs won’t experience serious illness from eating avocado. They must eat large portions of the stuff but try to stay away from it.Strawberries – Good. Strawberries are full of fiber and vitamin C. Along with that, they also contain an enzyme that can help whiten your dog’s teeth as he or she eats them.Broccoli – Good. It is high in fiber and vitamin C and low in fat. Broccoli is safe for dogs to eat in very small quantities and is best served as an occasional treat. Can My Dog Eat That? - DoggyCrap.com

What fruits and vegetables are safe to feed to dogs?

Apple chunks, banana slices, and carrot pieces are great choices as snacks for pups.

Can dogs eat fruits and vegetables?

Grapes are toxic in large quantities as are raisons. Watermelon shouldnt be bad might give them the runs if they eat a lot of it. Mangoes are okay but make sure you cut it up I have seen a number of dogs get sick from eating the pit of mangoes and it gets stuck in their intestines and they either have it removed surgically or die. As far as other fruits go pomogranites are bad, carrots are good, corn - probably fine as long as its not on the cob (cob can get stuck in their gut as well), apples are fine, pears are fine. I hope this helps

Are fruit and vegetables OK for dogs to eat?

I used to have a Shar Pei and tried to feed him fruits and veggies but the only thing he really liked was green beans in his food.

Now I have two 5 month old Westie girls. THEY LOVE all fruits and veggies... They love apples, pineapple, carrots, asparagus, green beans, broccoli, celery, lettuce, oranges, mangos etc.

I obviously dont feed them onions, raisins or grapes.

Then I got to thinking, they are carnivores by nature. Is it ok to give them fruits and veggies? I would think that it is healthy for a dog because it is healthy for us, but we have different systems.

They havent gotten sick yet from eating fruits and veggies and they were at the vet last night and he said their weight is perfect! I only give them these foods in TINY servings - they are only 9 and 12 pounds. They also eat all natural holistic dog food with no fillers like corn and wheat.

Any thoughts on this topic?? Have you done this too? Thanks!! :)

What fruits and vegetables are safe to feed hamsters?

Hamsters are omnivores so most fruits and vegetables except citrus, high sugar or high water content foods in large amounts. Just feed a tiny cube, then skip a day to see how it affects their systems. You’ll quickly discover what your pet likes best. Don’t forget seeds, mealy worms or crickets as a source of protein. Everything should be washed well, especially items from outside. Insects should only be obtained from a pet shop. Is feeding your dog fruits and vegetables bad for them?

Fruits and veggies are fine for dogs.
HOWEVER,before you feed them to your pet,you need to either talk to your vet,or find a good book on human foods ok for dogs to eat.Not ALL human foods are good for dogs, some can cause sickness and even death. For an example apples are ok to feed your dog,if you core them. The apple core(actually the seeds)are a big no no.If you want to feed them fruits and veggies, just make sure to educate yourself on which ones are ok,and wich ones are not.

In response to the answer below, who thinks nobody else must own a dog but them, all I have to say is RESEARCH THE TOPIC before you try to run others down.MANY premium dog foods, contain fruits and veggies, instead of worthless ingredients like corn and soy.
