What Is The Car Unlock Number Pad Called

Just bought a 2004 Ford Expedition with keyless number pad?

How can I reset the code? I looked through the owners manuel and it tell me where to find it but it's not there. The previous owner must have taken it off. I called the dealership and they are going to charge me 50+ bucks to reset the code. But is there a way to find the code?

Can a car key be used to unlock another car of same type?

Sir,Because the cuts of every key/lock combination are different. For instance, compare the way your key looks to another of the same car. They will be different. Also, in the case that another key is made, newer cars have a microchip in the base of each key with a "code". If you try to start a car without a key with the same code, it will not start. There may only be a certain number of ways to cut a key, but the amount of different codes a key could have is literally infinite. For your personal assistance we also have our personal advisers ( on chargeable basis-Rs 400) who will guide you throughout the process of getting your DREAM CAR. What should I do if I locked my keys in my car?

Unless you're hundreds of miles away from home, the cheapest & easiest option is to go home.  So, either get a lift, walk or use public transport. Then retrieve your spare key & return to your car.You do have a spare key...? (If you don't, it'd be a good idea to get one now, whilst you still have a key that works.  If the cost of a new key from the manufacturer is prohibitive, locksmiths can copy the key & clone the immobiliser chip, but they will need an original key in order to do this).Alternatively, most cars can still be opened by a locksmith using a 'Slim-Jim', a thin hook affair that is slid down between the glass and rubber on the driver's door.  It is used to manipulate the door lock & open the door.Emergency call-out motoring organisations are usually good at this too.  (AA, RAC., or Green Flag in the UK., AAA in the USA).This option assumes you've locked your key in the car, because you'll need your car key to switch the alarm off.  (Most cars made within the last 15 years or so have an alarm system which will be triggered if the car is opened by any method that doesn't use the key). This is usually a much cheaper option compared to breaking a window. Finally:If you have no option but to break a window, break the window that is easiest to fix!The cost of the glass in minor compared to the cost of the labour to replace it.  The smallest piece of glass isn't necessarily the cheapest to replace....Ask me how I know...!(The smaller pieces of glass are often fixed quarter-lights.   They can be a fairly major undertaking to replace, as a lot of the door and door frame may need to be dismantled.  A movable piece of glass is usually MUCH easier to replace. The difference in cost to obtain a new piece of glass between a larger piece -v- a small piece is minimal.  The cost of the labour isn't.  Obviously, this varies depending on the age/make of car, but most modern cars, when they have quarter lights, require a lot of dismantling to get them out).

How to turn off the engine in a car from outside (doors are locked and keys inside)?

My father locked the doors with the engine running and no spare key. How to do it without the locksmith help?

How can he shut the engine off? Gas tank is full and nothing to syphon it out with. Also trying not to break the windows.

Serious answers please.

Where do you locate keypad code for 2005 Mercury Mountaineer?

Open the right/rear door. Fold the right/rear seat down. Carefully pull the trim panel where the right/rear seat belt pivot/height adjuster is housed. Once removed, pull the trim panel below that in order to expose the Vehicle Security Module (the module that controls the electronic locking system for your vehicle) that has the three electrical connectors plugged into it. The connectors are coloured green, grey, and blue. On the module there is a label with the engineering number similar to 5L2T-15K602-EA. You will also see FIVE numbers. Those FIVE numbers are your Keyless entry keypad code. Once you know your kepad code, you can test its operation by first entering the FIVE digit kepad code to unlock the driver door, and then pressing th 3/4 button within 5 seconds to unlock ALL doors. Pressing the 5/6 button within 5 seconds after entering the code will unlock the lifgate glass. Pressing the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons simultaneously at any time will lock ALL doors. Hope this helps.

What are those number buttons on an SUV door used for?

The keypads are only on Ford’s that I know of.They are simply there to unlock the car if,A. You lock your keys in your carB. When you need to get something from inside the car, and you don't have keysC. If it's just more convenient to unlock the car without getting the key out of your pocket, purse, etc.

How do you get a key made for a lock without another key to model it from?

If you know the “pinning” or the “bitting” of the lock, you can ask a locksmith to cut a key “to code” for you. That information won’t be anywhere on the lock itself, but if you bought the lock from a retail outlet, that information might be in with the paperwork/packaging. For a typical house lock, like a doorknob or deadbolt, this is probably going to be a 5-digit number. If you don’t know and can’t find the bitting, a locksmith would be able to remove the cylinder from the lock and read the bitting from the actual pins.If we’re talking about an automotive lock, the dealership or a dealer-authorized locksmith should be able to cut you a key. You’ll need to provide them the VIN, and probably proof of ownership. If we’re talking about a padlock, then you might be out of luck. If your padlock has a removable cylinder, then a locksmith might be able to remove the cylinder and get the bitting directly from the pins, but this is a rare feature on padlocks. There is almost never useful information on the lock itself, either; anything that looks like a recovery code is probably a model or a part number. The last possibility here is a technique called “impressioning.” Making a key for a lock via impressioning requires at least two suitable key blanks, a few tools, a lot of skill, and a phenomenal amount of patience. It’s almost always more cost-effective to replace the padlock, even if replacing the padlock involves bolt cutters.

Why does Ford continue to put the keyless-entry keypad on its cars? Is there some curmudgeon of a Ford engineer who refuses to let the keypad die? Is it just a social experiment on Ford's part?

Ford’s keypad entry system?Positively one of the best features ever!I had it on my 1997 Lincoln Continental.I used it ALL THE TIME. I never needed to carry keys in my pocket. I simply locked my keys inside the car, out of sight of passers by, of course.6251 unlocked the driver’s door.625102 unlocked the passenger door.625105 popped open the trunk. And press keys 7 and 9 simultaneously and all 4 doors locked. These were the factory default combinations. You could program a custom code for driver #1, and a different custom code for driver #2.When the code for driver #1 was entered on the keypad the door unlocked, the mirrors were adjusted, the seat was positioned, the radio presets were adjusted, variable electronic ride control and variable assist power steering preferences were set, and a few other driver preferences were all returned to driver #1’s previous settings. When the code for driver #2 was entered, all of driver #2’s preferences were set.And of course the keypad was illuminated at night when you either lifted the door handle or pressed any one of the keys.I miss the keypad entry system very much.It was magical!(The rest of the car wasn't too shabby either. In fact, it was quite exceptional.)
