What Is The Current Price For A U.s Postage Stamp

Why do postage stamps have different prices?

You need to use the correct postage on the letter, not just any stamp. Stamps that say "forever" on them are good for first class letter postage no matter the price. If there is a price on the stamp, then you need to add enough stamps to equal the current postage price. Some stamps with no price were issued when there is a price change but before the new stamps with the postage have been issued.

In 1990, the cost of u.s. postage stamp was 25 cents. in 2010 the cost of a u.s. postage stamp was 44 cents.?

A 76% increase.

If you can't figure that out yourself, our nation is doomed.

How much was a postage stamp in 1983, the price of gas in 1983, the price of milk and eggs in 1983?

stamp: 24 cents or 27 cents
gas: $1.69 per gallon
1 gallon milk: $1.45 (Yes, still cheaper than gas!)
eggs: 65 cents (for the cheapest dozen)

ALL GUESSES, but good ones.

What is the current price of a postage stamp?

44 cents...
Going to 45 cents on or about January 22, 2012
Purchase the "Forever Stamps" then when the USPS increases prices you don't have to run out and buy even more postage when they make changes upward. Makes life more pleasant.

Can the price of postage stamps be marked up at convenience stores?

Everything else is. Why not stamps?

That's a quite a mark-up.

The following is from the US Postal Service site....

"The U.S. Postal Service has no control over the pricing policy of private entrepreneurs. Since they must pay full price for the stamps they buy for resale, they may, of course, charge a higher price in order to earn a return on their investment of capital and effort. Their prices are, no doubt, established on the basis of their needs and on economic market forces."

When do Postage stamps expire?

As long as they haven't been adhered to a letter or package, postage stamps do not expire and are always worth the value printed on them.

The new forever stamp is valid for first class postage no matter what the rate. By concept, once purchased, a forever stamp is a perpetual stamp that never expires or declines in value.
