What is the formula for a BBQ dry rub?

Alton Brown (Good Eats, FoodNetwork) suggests a ratio of 8:3:1+1 for dry rub:
* 8 tablespoons light brown sugar, tightly packed
* 3 tablespoons kosher salt
* 1 tablespoon chili powder

The +1 consists of the following combination, (which you can vary to suit your taste) to equal one more portion of the equation (even adding more chili powder if you like, as long as the total for this portion equals one part):

* 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon jalapeno seasoning
* 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
* 1/2 teaspoon rubbed thyme
* 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

"This recipe makes several batches of dry rub. If more rub is needed, it can be extended by any amount, as long as the ratio of 8:3:1:1 remains the same."

What is the formula for a hot dog?

Most hot dogs are made from scrap called offal.
They are the nose, lips, cartilage, organs and scrap meat, ground up usually dyed to a red since they naturally are grayish and seasoning.

----------
*"We use what's called 'edible offal,'" Ward says. "Tongues and spleens and that type of thing."

What else? "We use the front feet only, not the hind the front. They don't have too much hair on them." He looks at his visitors, one of whom is scribbling on a notepad. "Am I giving you too much information?"

Formula 1 hearing protection help !!?

It's important to say that tinnitus is a symptom and not a disease. Some people will have tinnitus because their Cochlea is damaged. And in a few, it could be caused due to hearing loss. But of course, the most common cause of tinnitus is exposure to loud noises. The noise can be a sudden burst, or it could be a constant banging that hits the ear drum and travels inside.

A good guide you can read about tinnitus and some good natural remedies can be found here: http://tinnitus.toptips.org

Chemical formula for fire?

Combustion or burning is a complex sequence of chemical reactions between a fuel and an oxidant accompanied by the production of heat or both heat and light in the form of either a glow or flames.

Since not every oxidation process results in the production of heat (for example, corrosion), the term combustion can only be applied to exothermic processes that occur at a rate fast enough to produce heat.

In a complete combustion reaction, a compound reacts with an oxidizing element, and the products are compounds of each element in the fuel with the oxidizing element. For example:

CH_4 + 2O_2 \rightarrow \; CO_2 + 2H_2O + heat
CH_2S + 6F_2 \rightarrow \; CF_4 + 2HF + SF_6 + heat

In most cases, combustion uses oxygen (O2) obtained from the ambient air, which can be taken as 21 mole percent oxygen and 79 mole percent nitrogen (N2). Thus, when methane (CH4) is combusted using air as the oxygen source, the first example equation above becomes:

CH_4 + 2O_2 + 7.52N_2 \rightarrow \; CO_2 + 2H_2O + 7.52 N_2 + heat

As can be seen, when air is the source of the oxygen, nitrogen is by far the largest part of the products of combustion.

Chemical equation

Generally, the chemical equation for burning a hydrocarbon (such as octane) in oxygen is as follows:

C_xH_y + (x + \frac{y}{4})O_2 \rightarrow \; xCO_2 + (\frac{y}{2})H_2O

For example, the burning of propane is:

C_3H_8 + 5O_2 \rightarrow \; 3CO_2 + 4H_2O

The simple word equation for the combustion of a hydrocarbon in oxygen is:

Fuel + Oxygen \rightarrow \; Heat + Water + Carbon\ dioxide

If the combustion takes place using air as the oxygen source, the corresponding equations are:

C_xH_y + (x+ \frac{y}{4})O_2 + 3.76(x+ \frac{y}{4})N_2 \rightarrow \; xCO_2 + (\frac{y}{2})H_2O + 3.76(x + \frac{y}{4})N_2

For example, the burning of propane is:

C_3H_8 + 5O_2 + 18.8N_2 \rightarrow \; 3CO_2 + 4H_2O + 18.8N_2

The simple word equation for the combustion of a hydrocarbon in air is:

Fuel + Oxygen + Nitrogen \rightarrow \; Heat + Water + Carbon\ dioxide + Nitrogen

What is the chemical formula of iron?

Iron is an element, not a compound, therefore does not have a chemical formula. It's Chemical symbol is Fe. However, Iron has several different oxidation forms that have differently charged atoms. Both Iron II, with a +2 charge, and Iron III, with a +3 charge, are common.

What is the chemical formula and composition of canola oil?

Okay,  let's get two things clear from the start;-Canola oil is a complex mixture of many different chemical compounds.Chemical formulas have a specific meaning in chemistry and can only be given for pure chemical compounds or elements, not mixtures of chemicals.So, there is no single chemical formula for canola oil. I'm guessing you mean product formulation rather than chemical formula.The product formulation or composition of canola oil can be expressed as a quantitative list of chemical compounds. Please see Canola Oil: Physical and Chemical Properties

What is the brix unit for pasta sauce?

there are so many sauces and most of them tomato sauces… Whic is the sauce you mean? And is it so important to know the quantity of sugar in it?Let’s say that you mean a common tomato sauce. You use oil, garlic, onions, salt and…..well you can use so many kinds of tomatoes!and is important for you may be, that see att a sauce as a chemical product but… I choose the tomatoes or tomato paste after the needings and what i do find att marketand i can useSan Marzano tomatoes, piccadilly tomatoes, pachino tomatoes and each of them has different brix values but the sauce is good as food…I cook food do not develop industrial products. Let’s say that I want to cook an amatriciana sauce. Best “guanciale” ( pork cheec salted and seasoned) is from Norcia but they do it wit paprika or black peppar and it can be more or less seasoned but GOOD do you understand what I mean? I cook food that is something living in some way… and I do not use a weight the salt with a goldsmith balance and do not measure the amount of water with a graduated measuring cup or do a portion by measuring the pasta how and when? Before? after cooking? and if it boils 10 seconds more? and whether I use a commercial or high quality pasta?Cooking is something different and can not be done with formulas and robots.

Is silicon dioxide in spices harmful in any way?

Silicon dioxide (SiO2), also known as silica, is a natural compound made of two of the earth’s most abundant materials: silicon (Si) and oxygen (O2).Why Is It in Food and Supplements?Along with being found pretty much everywhere on earth, silicon dioxide is found in foods and supplements. But, why?First, as a food additive, silicon dioxide serves as an anticaking agent. It is used to prevent clumping. In supplements, it’s used to prevent the various powdered ingredients from sticking together.As with many food additives, consumers often have concerns about finding silicon dioxide on product labels. However, numerous studies have found no health risks associated with this particular ingredient.Silicon dioxide is found naturally in many plants. For example, leafy green vegetables, beets, bell peppers, brown rice and oats, and alfalfa.Have Safe Limits Been Set?Though the research doesn’t indicate any risks associated with silicon dioxide ingestion, the FDA and other global health organizations have set upper limits on its consumption. This is mainly because amounts higher than these set limits have not been sufficiently studied.Is Silicon Dioxide Safe?
