This, in turn is filtered off, washed and heated to dryness to finally obtain Sodium trioxocarbonate (IV). The process is summarized in these chemical equations: 2NaHCO3→ Na2CO3(s) + H2O (l) + CO2 (g) These are reactions that occur in the Solvay process for the manufacture of Na2CO3 from NaCl and CaCO3. This terminology does not seem to fit with modern chemistry and I wonder if this was the wording used in the original description of this process.
