Do cats scratch up laminate floor?
We have lovely laminate through out. We are planning on getting a cat - can anyone tell us do cats like to scratch laminate floors up? We have always had carpets at previous houses with previous cats so have no experience of this.
Is NU WOOD a good laminate floor brand?
I ve never heard of this particular brand but that isn t totally unusual. If you can get me some other specs on it ,and e mail me through my avatr, I ll help guide you, But 2 things you can look into that I ve used as a general guide line to judge laminates. One is do they carry any type of a warranty? Any thing 15 yrs and longer it ll be of some quaility. Two is , where is it made? Would a piano break laminate flooring?
Another thought, if you can't win your husband over on this, is to get a quality digital. Casio has a line called Privia, and they are really impressing me! They have a great touch, really nice sounds (that get even better as you move up the line from the base models and get better speakers), and are beautifully simple in design. There are also many other nice digitals available now, and it's worth going to a music store and playing them -- they all sound and feel different, and you want to definitely choose by liking the sound and touch, not just the brand name. If you have even floors and your laminate is laid well, I really don't think you'll have problems with a small console piano. But do explore digitals, which could give your daughter the weighted-key action and full keyboard she needs, without the weight. Good luck!

How long do laminate floors last before the finish is gone or scratched?
We put laminate flooring in our last home. . .throughout the entire house. We used what we thought was a good brand name (pergo). . .honestly we've had it for 2 years now and the dinning room floor is scratched bad from people sliding chairs in/out when eating dinner. We also have a few areas where the joints have separated and there are little gaps there, and a few other areas where something heavy was dropped (son's toys) and it chipped the finish off. Don't be fooled by "25 year guarantees" they give you, because after reading the FINE print. . . . its only guarunteed if you have them professionally installed by one of their installers, which we did not do, so we were **** out of luck. We just sold our home, but before doing so, we had to rip the flooring out in a couple of rooms and redo it, as to make it look better. Thats the down side of laminate wood flooring. It cannot be refinished, so once something happens to it, all u can do is replace it. We have a dog (75lb weimaraner) and an 18month old son. . . our current (new) home has hard wood floors, and I like them soooo much better!
