The Nixon Watergate Scandal?
I guess the thing that I remember most was I voted for him. When Watergate first came out I didn't believe the president could possible be involved. As it unfolded and it became apparent that he was guilty of taking part in the cover up, I felt that justice should be done. The media had the biggest role of uncovering it and reporting it, but bottom line Nixon did the crime. Nixon did the right thing by resigning, he looked like a deer in the headlights when he was giving the speech. He would have been impeached, as repuglicans were even turning against him. I was invoved in the anti war movement and attended various protest and ralleys to end the war in Vietnam. I thought Nixon was the better of the two men when I voted for him, as it turned out I was wrong. My opinion of him changed when he didn't take the necessary steps to end the war and Watergate was just the frosting on the cake. I was really sorry that I had voted for him. Watergate is simmilar to the Bush administration as they are keeping secreat many things that the American public should know, they are also guilty of lying to the people, even the Iraqi war has simularitys to the Vietnam war as we are being told by the administration how well things are going while all the time the body bags keep counting up. Depends on what you mean.Procedurally speaking, I suppose it was the Clinton impeachment.In terms of a real abuse that was exposed and should have had more serious results for the administration involved, I’d choose Iran-Contra.

During Nixon's campaign, he sent men to break into Watergate Hotel (the Democrat convention). men were arrested, then nixon declined being involved with the whole scandal. later more men were arrested, they said Nixon had tapes with conversations he had had in his office. Nixon refused to turn them in, later he did but 18 min were missing. the court ordered him to turn them in, revealing that he had played a major role. he decided to resign because he knew that he would be impeached and removed, thus resigning still gave him the privileges of any other president had once out of office.
