What Is Your Opinion Of This Prom Dress

How much is too much for a prom dress in your opinion?

I'm a senior in high school and I've never payed over $100 for a dress whether it be for prom or homecoming and I still end up with gorgeous, designer dresses that are maybe from a season or two ago as seen below. I cringe when I see girls spending close to $250 or more on a dress they'll where for one night. I've even seen girls bragging about spending $700 on a one of a kind dress that they want to turn around and sell for $650 even though it was specially made for them. I'm not saying that if you have the money you shouldn't buy something expensive that you really want, but it doesn't seem logical to buy an expensive dress for one night when you also have to factor in alterations, tickets, hair, makeup, after party, accessories, ect.

I just want to know where do you cross the line when it comes to the price of a prom dress? For me it's always been $100.

I'm torn between two prom dresses. I need another opinion.?

I was looking for prom dresses for my home school prom in April. I found the blue dress first, and I just kept going back to look at it. I loved it.
But yesterday I found the purple dress, and I love it too!
My prom theme is Mardi Gras, and my mother insist that I should pick a dress that could go with the theme (in this case, a colorful dress to match the mardi gras theme. Although she likes the blue dress better.), so the purple one could match better.
I've asked my best friend's opinion, my sister's and my mother's. So now I'm asking for a random stranger's opinion... I am stuck.

There is just something about that blue dress... I can't figure out what it is...
But the purple matches the theme, it's cheaper, and it has a corset back (Or whatever it's called), so I wouldn't have to worry about it being too loose.

I really need opinions.

Mermaid style prom dress? Opinions?

Yes yes yes yes yes my favorites(:

My good friend asked for my opinion about her prom dress. How can I politely tell her I think it's ugly?

Explain that it does not suit her.For example, if it is very form fitting but the friend's body could benefit with a little less form being shown, say that the dress is too plain for her and that something with more texture might look better. On the other hand, if your friend has a nice shape but the dress is too pouffy, advise her that it is too busy and that something more simple might accentuate her figure. The color of the dress might not suit her hair or eyes or the fabric may be uncomfortable... itchy or stiff or slippery...What is nice about your friend ? Find a way to explain that the dress does not work with that aspect of your friend. However, she may have her heart set on it in which case, accept her choice with grace or she may be unable to find anything else better in which case maybe you can come up with some ideas together to turn the caterpillar into a butterfly... perhaps go as a 70s themed couple or accessorize a plain dress to enhance it...Good luck.

Opinion on ball gown for prom?

When I first went shopping for my prom dress I originally wanted a red sequined dress (think Jessica Rabbit) or an emerald green mermaid dress. After shopping at this amazing dress shop that has tons of used, new, and last season dresses, I fell in love with an Alyce design ball gown. The top has a swirl pattern with yellow and green sequins and the bottom has creme colored tulle. The straps cross in the back in an x shape and it fits like a glove. It was only $100 dollars since it was from last season and was so excited to have a ball gown.

A lot of my friends said they wanted a ball gown too, but most gowns are at least $300+ and most of them settled with a mermaid or a straight dress. I love my dress, but I don't want to stick out at prom as the only one with a ball gown. I'm also worried about dancing with my date and getting around at the dance. I'm still have my senior prom next year and figured when's the next time I'm actually going to wear a ball gown. What are your opinions on ball gowns and what would you think if you saw someone at your prom wearing one?

My dress is similar (shape wise) to this:

How much is too much to spend on a prom dress?

I think anything more than $300. is too much for a prom dress. I mean, it’s not like its a sweet 16 dress, or a Quincienera dress either. Any dress over $300 in my opinion is way too much! SOME, not all, but some wedding dresses don’t cost more than $500! But ideally I believe its up to the parents and what they can afford to dish out for one night!
