What Made Alexander Great Compared To Chenkis Khan .

Between Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great and Muhammad who is the smartest war general?

Genghis Khan's empire was larger than Alexanders, The Roman Empire and Hitler's conquests combined....

Alexander the great vs genghis khan?

comparing alex w/kahn? unless it is with conquests. there is no comparison. alex came, might've taken over but didn't destroy as the kahn. alex married into the local areas, had many wives and left a lasting legacy that still felt today. he was considered then as the most handomest man ever and his lieness was used (true) when looking for a face on statues of jesus. alex and his band of merry men took on the world and nearly conquered it - stopped at the indus valley and by disease. if left to his complete devices, alex would've taken on the world and won it but not necessarily by threat of power. no the kahn had no such class. only the russians stopped them where they stood (future czar michael) and did that w/vanity - the kahn's. slick i thought. other than that, kahn and his mongolian horde rode, swiped and destroyed their way across europe and china. the wall of china was built originally to stop the mongols and did for a short time. it can be said that china's adversions towards outsiders began w/the mongol masses and there is truth to it. kahn? a bully of mass proportions w/gansters at his side. alexander? a man who rode a grey horse, with also a bunch of threatening masses armed to the hilt but they didn't destroy unless they had to. alex reasoned that destruction was not to his advantage. marrying into the powerful families was. kahn was crass and alex was class. p.s. and for what's it's worth, i am related distantly to kahn so i'm not being rude just realistic.

Why is Alexander known as “The Great,” while Genghis Khan was “a barbarian”? Both were brutal conquerers who did the same job and massacred their enemies. How did they get different titles?

Genghis Khan was not his name. His name was Temujin(sp? He who bends steel ). Genghis Khan means Great Ruler or ruler of all in their language. So he is a “great” and not a barbarian. If you are asking why he is viewed in History as a “barbo” consider this. The Mongols had a way of doing things. Generally, they would send out messengers to the different places he intended to conquer. If they surrendered, he was usually quite fair, normally allowing such peoples to keep their religion, society, property and lives as long as they did what he said. If they refused, then there was no mercy. All the inhabitants would either be killed or enslaved. Even the children were killed if they “measured up to the lynch pin”. This is a reference to the Mongol rule of taking all conquered children and placing them next to a large ox cart with large wheels the Mongols used to carry plunder. If the child measured up to the lynch pin on the wheels, they were killed. If they were below it, they were often taken and made into slaves or soldiers. It is truly unimaginable the amount of death and destruction the Mongols caused. Scientists studying green house gasses made a discovery that at the time of the Khanate, there was a significant reduction in greenhouse gases globally. Puzzled, they looked for an answer and what it appears is that the Mongols killed so many people in the area of central Asia, that the forests that once covered the area grew back, filtered the air, as there were no people left to cut them down, for I believe 50 years. So there is that…

Was 'Alexander' that 'Great'? Or was Genghis Khan much 'Better'?

If you talk about Great, let discuss it in many areas that they achieved, the lands only wont deserve the title of great.
Seeing Alexander as a the champion of Greece and set his reign over much the world surround him, he started Hellenism and his conquest stop around India today. His empire collapse as soon as he died, so land that he conquest sure is nothing compare to the culture impact he had. He spread Greek idea around the area. now that gonna spark up the Renaissance later on, thank to the Islamic preserve of Greek texts.

Genghis Khan is more about great in unification the tribes of the Mongol against other Asian kingdoms around there, which is the Jin dynasty ( this dynasty not Chinese). The Jin constantly harrass the Mongols and even made them subordinate, Genghis against that and destroyed the Jin later on. He then took the army and get as much as land as you know. His greatness is about the land the he conquered. In his reign, it is much peaceful and tolerant than others. Paper money used, travel safe, trading flourished.

Who is the most powerful? Genghis khan , alexander the great, or cyrus the great of persia?

The Mongol Empire under Genghis Khan was the largest empire ever created in the lifespan of one man.  His legend still lives in the Mongolian steppes even today.

I'm proud of my great ancestors.

Genghis Khan and Alexander the Great - What are some similarities between them? What are some differences?

* Both world conquerors. He's white while he's asian.

Who's the greater General? Ghengis Khan or Alexander the Great?

I would have to say Genghis Khan over Alexander. Just for the reason that Genghis Khan had a harder road to follow to become the leader, whereas Alexander was in line for the throne of Macedonia after Phillip.

Both used weapons and troops that were best suited for the terrain that they fought in the Greeks favored their cavalry and the phalanx will the Mongols primarily used the mounted warriors and archers to great effect.

Genghis Khan perfected a war machine that would not be seen again until the times of Napoleon. The Mongol military organization, communications, tactic and strategies were unbeatable for the time. He was able to concentrate his armies at critical points bring to battle often superior numbers. He defeated nations that had better troops, great fortifications, and better armor. He used the right tactics to defeat each of his various opponents. The heavy infantry of the Romans the heavy cavalry of the Byzantines, or the stone fortification of the Chinese or Eastern Europe.

Alexander had a government to support him the city state governments of the Greeks had power when they were united. The mongol never had any power until united by the great khan, and the power of the mongols lasted only until the death of Kublai Khan son of Genghis Khan. Genghis Khan achieved far more than Alexander, from far humbler beginnings, and without a equal system of government such as what the Greeks had. Could Alexander had gone as far had he not been born the son of a King?
