What Military Branch Do You Think Would Be The Best For Me

Which military branch do you think is right for me?

It is nearly impossible for anyone to "tell you" what branch is best for you. You need to sort it out for yourself. From you post you mentioned three jobs that are found in the Army, Air Force and Navy, then you throw in two others that are limited to Army and Marine Corps.

You have time. You need to think about what skill set you really want to develop and which job you would enjoy doing all the time. The kay to having a successful career is finding out what you like to do, then doing it, versus suffering through a daily grind of doing something just for a check.

One last thing. If you can carry that GPA through the end of high school you can qualify for either ROTC or a service academy, and doing the service as a commissioned officer is obviously going to make more sense. If you decide to try for a service academy you will need to get busy in the next six months. The deadline to apply for admissions to any of the service academies happens in the fall of your senior year. Get started now.

Good luck to you.

I want to join the military. Which branch do you think is best for me? Marines? Navy?

I am currently 17 years old and I have been thinking of joining the military. The more I think about it the more I get convinced that this is a decision I want to make. Im stuck however. I dont know which branch I should join. I was hoping that someone here could possibly orientate me a little. Im planning on contacting a recruiter soon, but I want to do outside research as well.

WHY I WANT TO JOIN. I GUESS YOU DONT HAVE TO READ THIS PARAGRAPH, ITS KINDA LONG
The reasons I want to join are essensially 2 main ones. The first one is that I want to be a part of some greater good. The second is for educational purposes. I want to eventually go to medical school. My grades in high school are not bad. Ive gotten mostly A's and B's and have taken a lot of accelerated and college level classes. I know though that it will be hard to pay for school without taking out some loans, unless I get a full ride which is an extremely small chance. I know I have not picked a short or easy career, so while im at it, I might as well join the military. I feel that this is my opportunity to take that decision that only the few make. I want to prove to myself that I can do this, that I was born to serve my country and make a difference for those in other countries. I want a career that im proud of which is the main reason I want to go into the medical field. In joining the military I would be fulfilling myself in ways that only the military could offer. It would also make a world of a difference for when I go back to school and finish my medical career.

MY QUESTION...
Based on this and the fact that I am female, which branch do you think is best for me. I was thinking the marines because it is more of a challenge. I know that this branch doesnt have anything medical in which I could work in but thats not a concern. I would appreciate it if someone could explain to me how I could benefit from these branches and a general idea of what jobs I could have in them. Thank you so much for those who answer.

Which branch of the US military do you think has the best theme song?

I'm not asking which branch is the best, just which song you think is best.

The Army Song (The Army Goes Rolling Along)

The Navy Song (Anchors Aweigh)

The Air Force Song (Off We Go Into the Wild Blue Yonder)

Hymn of the Marine Corps (From the Halls of Montezuma)

What military branch and job would be best for me?

I'm in the Air Force and we usually have the shortest deployments. Our deployments are usually only about 120 days. Granted, nothing is ever set in stone (there are places that people may go for a year) but this is the norm. As far as joining the guard goes, I don't know if their is a gaurd unit where you live. If you apply for guard duty though I'm pretty sure you will come back home and work for that base. You are not going to be able to train at your home station because you will go to basic training in San Antonio, TX and depending on your job you will go to a technical school. Tech schools for certain jobs are only at certain bases. For example, I am an aircraft electrician and the only place I can go to school is in a boring place called Wichita Falls, TX (about 2 hours from Dallas).

As far as jobs go you will have to pick something you think you might like (or what you are qualified for based on ASVAB scores). If you don't want to get stuck fixing planes my advice is to refrain from doing well on the electrical and mechanical parts of the test.

What is the best military branch to work for?

I chose the Navy based, in part, on a criteria that ended up failing me: I liked their real estate. The Air Force supposedly has a nice standard of living, but they do said living in dusty little armpit towns in Tumbleweed Gulch, West Texas. Whereas the Navy gets beachfront property everywhere nice. The Army and Marine corps are no great shakes, either.  Ever lay eyes on Camp Lejeune?  Ft Bragg?  Seemed like a no-brainer to me.Sadly, though, I spent the entirety of my Navy career on Army bases in the middle of BFE, so I never got to reap the reward of my excellent, well-informed decision making. Also to be considered:Temperamentwise, I'm equal parts dumbass and hardass, but the lion's share of my character is smartass, and that seemed to actually work out OK in the Navy. I believe the Marines would have been very frustrated with me (and vice versa), the Air Force is way too wussy, and the Army is (to my mind) needlessly gung ho about unimportant stuff. Is that the general consensus?  I imagine not.  Is there a general consensus?  I don't think so.Thanks for the A2A.

What military branch is the best branch to join in your opinion?

The military is made up of 5 branches, each with a separate mission, and each contributing equally to the Security of the nation. Each has it’s benefits and it’s shortfalls. It really depends upon what you hope to gain from the experience of your time in service. Einstein said: “If you judge a fish by his ability to climb a tree, he will live his entire life believing he is stupid.” ( or words to that affect )The military is truly what you make it, but if you join th Army to see the world, you’ll likely be as disappointed as if you joined the Navy expecting to stay in one city during your entire enlistment. If you want to study nuclear energy, go Navy, most Navy ships these days are powered by their own nuclear reactors. We have more reactors in the US Navy than most countries. If you want to study weather formations, or flight or perhaps your interests lie in the drone program.. Air Force is for you.If you want to achieve peak physical fitness, self-discipline, and combat capability: The USMC will train you like no other.Maybe you are interested in playing a role closer to home. Working with Homeland Security in drug interdiction, immigration, customs, and domestic rescue. The US Coast Guard has the best small boat crews, and rescue diver training anywhere.Last, but not least, the Army: Only because it is so large and covers such a wide variety of tasks. They work at home fighting wildfires, floods, hurricanes, and helping with rescues. The guard the borders, provide training, provide over the road transportation of miitary good, and much more.I could go on for hours, but you must start with YOUR desires, hopes, and goals. Once you know what you want, Veterans will gladly help to guide you to your best selections in the military.Personally, I didn’t yet know what I wanted to do with my life, but I wanted to see some of the world. I joined the Navy, I found a new home, and was never disappointed. I’ve been to 40 countries & islands around the globe on 6 warships, seen, learned, heard, tasted, tried, done, and played with things most people could only dream of doing. I’ve lived in Australia, and learned to play guitar, dived the wrecks of the battle of Midway Island, and watched Mt Vesuvius erupt. I’ve toured castles in Scotland & the UK and bought a switchblade knife in Italy. I’ve served in Combat and reenlisted at the Alamo. ..But that was what I wanted to do. Your dreams may be different.

SURVEY: Which branch of the military do you think produces the best lovers? The best fighters?

Well Fyre, I must say TYVM from the outset for inviting me to this forum. As a retired Navy Veteran you know my character & where my vote comes from -- Navy all the way!!! Let me clarify, that when I joined the Navy at 26, I was a single guy who had been sexually active playing the field since I was 13, and remained that way for a full five years after I enlisted, before finally settling down during Operation Desert Shield, the prepatory stage for Operation Desert Storm (or more commonly called, "The First Gulf War," after Saddam Hussein invaded the Kingdom of Kuwait Aug. 2, 1990).

The origin of the saying, "A Sailor has a girl in every port" is very simply based on the fact that we sail into harm's way on all of the Seven Seas and hit liberty ports -- worldwide -- as every opportunity presents itself. Do I need to add, that we hit it hard? When does that opportunity arise, or how often? Why do we "hit it hard" every time? We hit them hard, because we drink, ... no, we carouse, we flirt, ... we fall in love, we fight to win the heart of the one we love, or to protect her from perceived harm -- we do it all in compressed time -- usually all in one night, because we carryon as if tomorrow may never come.

We may be on watch & can't get off the ship the next night (if there is a next night), or we may be sailing off into harm's way at morning's light, not ever sure if we will return this way again. So we spend our days & nights ashore in the arms of friends and lovers, giving both our all, for that is all we may have left in us.

I must admit, it is a bit daunting to try to sell one service as having better lovers over another -- it is something inside of all of us, no matter what uniform they wear in service to our country & it doesn't really matter after the uniform comes off because we are both naked & just Americans. So, I can only vouch for myself, as I've had more numerous Navy lovers (7), than Marines (1), Army (3), Air Force (2) & one Coastie.

Let your heart decide, & if it feels good, just do it!!!

Best military branch to become a pilot?

Hi there! I'm currently looking into becoming a pilot in the military and I'm not really sure which route would be the best for me. I'm a 21 year old female who is currently a junior in college and will be graduating spring of 2019 with a degree in Public Health. I have a GPA that sits around 3.7. I don't currently have any flight experience.

I'm not sure what exactly I would like to do with my aviation career except for the fact that I would like to be flying often, I want to be a strong leader with a fulfilling career, I want to serve my country, and I'm most interested in flying helicopters.

I've done hours of research on the Air Force and Army in regards to trying to get a pilot slot out of college. From the research I've done most people have said it's virtually impossible to get a slot in the AF out of OTS because many slots are given those involved AFROTC or went to the Academy. The Army seems to have better luck due to the Flight Warrant Officer program, but I also saw some people argue that going that route would be a "waste" of your college degree since you do not need one to enter that program (I think to diminish a college degree like that is ridiculous, but I'd love other thoughts on it). I have done some but little research on the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard.

Any advice for best options to meet my goals in regards to specific branches would be great, but also other advice on how to make myself a stronger candidate would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

What military branch to choose?

Depends on how much you’re willing to do physically as they all typically have the same benefits aside from whether you are active duty or a national guard/reserve component. Marines are and will forever be the most physically demanding branch of any military, but with it is the honor and prestige of being a marine, which is a reward in itself. You are always seen as a badass even amongst service members of the different branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard). Your presence around other branches seem to carry more weight. Note however you will be dragged through the mud and be living in the worst conditions possible. That being said Air Force has by far the best accommodations when it comes to living quarters, food etc. This is because (and it’s been WELL PROVEN over time) that during times of war and military conflicts, a country’s military power is directly reflected to who can control the skies; this explains why they receive the most funding over any other branch. If you can’t control the air space above your assets, there’s no point in even having them. Now this being said you will be regarded as the “chair force” and be mocked by the other branches because their physical readiness standards are lesser than those of other branches. But then again when you’re at an air force base with your own room with your own TV, mini fridge and a closet, eating the amazing food they have.. well let em talk. I have friends in every branch, I’m currently in the US Army and I think it’s the best of both worlds, you get some prestige for being a soldier, and the larger Army bases have everything you could ask for and some, if you don’t mind having some roommates the Army is the way to go in my humble opinion. Any branch you decide to choose, know that you’ll meet some amazing people, make some great friends and get to travel the world in a way that only 1% will ever know (and get paid none the less).  Cheers, hope this isn’t too long and this helps.
