Other than that, the images themselves see to have the normal types of editing such as brightness, contrast and color that is done in camera during the JPEG conversion process. They are also used to allow a wide aperture (& thus a shallow depth of field) for portraiture when the light is bright. Otherwise the shutter speed would be too fast & beyond the range of the camera. However, it's purpose is not to prevent overexposure - that is achieved by correct metering & settings. A red colour cast is likely from a lower quality filter Use a colour checker & correct in post or shoot manual white balance. Shoot in raw for more flexibility in adjustment of white balance in post. Edit: rick - you shoot wide open in bright sunlight? what's your shutter speed?? Sunny 16 rule would indicate an aperture of f16, 1/125 sec @ ISO 100. If you open up to f1.4 that's 7 stops more light. Your shutter speed would have to increse from 1/125 sec to 1/16,000 sec to get the same exposure!

Remove a dog filter on a saved picture?
Once an effect has been placed on a photo, it stays there permanently. The only way to see the original picture is to dig up the original copy. If you had the original copy, without the dog, you wouldn't be asking. No, you can't remove the filter. Sorry.
Make pic look like comic (Photoshop)?
It looks like a duotone. Turn the picture to grayscale. Then change the contrast so that it will become something close to this, it works better if you can do it using curves and not contrast (check the help on how curves works). Then go to threshold, this will make all pixels in the photo either black or white (no grays), find a value where the image looks good. Then you just have to turn it to duotone and select the second color. If you want to make it even more like a drawing try a filter from the artistic group, you can see from their names how they will look like and you can experiment, I think its better to use the filter after the contrast and before the threshold.
