What Processor Will Work

How can i figure out if a processor will work with a computer?

It is possible to upgrade a CPU in a laptop because the i7's you listed use the uPGA988 socket, which means the processor is removable! But the task is very daunting and should only be attempted by professional computer shops! You can switch it with any processor that uses the uPGA988 array! But it is extremely hard to do, so bring it to a shop! Then again Mobile processors can only be bought by OEM manufacturers (Asus, MSI, Acer etc.) by the tray, which is usually 100 at a time! So your local computer store can only replace it if they have a spare laptop with one of 'em processors! To save the trouble, why don't you just get a new laptop, for the same price as yours with an i3, or i5! It'll be easier and you don't run the risk of destroying your computer! Replacing a laptop processor means checking if the chipset is compatible, reflashing your entire Laptop BIOS,and making sure that your cooling fan can support a new processor (NO IT CANNOT! Your fan was made for B980 dual-core, not quad core high end i7 that puts out a ton of heat! That's your problem there!)!

Just get a new laptop! It's easier!

And to the 2 above me...i have taken out laptop processors before and replaced them with faster versions (of the same Wattage of course), and after reflashing the BIOS, worked well!

Is there a video editor that will work with an i3 processor?

Paid - You could get Adobe Premiere Pro, which is 20 US Dollars per month. (Keep in mind, with an i3, it might show a little bit of lag when you play the video, but it’s barely noticeable. I use an i3 myself.) If you use some other currency, use this website, type in 20, then it’ll show the conversions for all currencies. There are ways to constantly renew the trials by going into the program files and changing the trial serial key in the application.xml file, but you’ll have to do that every week and there might be a chance that it’ll tell you that your version is not free. Here is a YouTube video showing how to do it:Free - You should definitely go with Hitfilm 4 Express. I use it, and it looks basically like premiere pro, and it can also composite videos, too. In the website, it’ll say that you need to share it on social media before you can access it, but you can just click on one of the links and X out of it right away. It is a full blown video compositor and editor for free, and for an unlimited time, so you don’t have to renew a trial serial number every week like Premiere Pro. It does miss 2 or 3 features that Premiere Pro has, but I think without me telling you, you really wouldn’t notice. Here is a basic tutorial on Hitfilm 4 Express:Thanks for reading my answer! Cheers!

Will an i5 Processor work with an LGA 1366 motherboard?

i5 ### will only work with LGA 1156, i5 #### will only work with LGA 1155 socket. LGA 1366 is for some i7s and Xeons.

Intel, I do love you, yes I love you more than I love AMD, but WHY must you make so many different incompatible sockets? AMD doesn't play me like that. How can I quit you???

Will modern games work with a low processor but have high GPU and RAM? How much do processors affect gaming?

The most significant component which affect gaming in a PC is the GPU period. For every game to run smoothly and achieve a decent frame per second (fps) a decent GPU is required the most. I don't understand completely when you say “low" processor…are you talking about the number of cores in a cpu, the core clock speed, the generation, the fab process (22nm, 20nm, 16nm) or type (i3, i5, i7, i9)? Do you know that the intel 8th gen mainstream CPUs have more cores than all previous generations? Typically CPUs are collaborate with GPUs to run games but majority of the work is done by the GPU. A decent 4 core CPU with a clock speed of 3.4 GHz or up matched with what you say “high" GPU will tear up most of mordern games thrown at it. I said most because optimization is a factor. Bad optimisation disregards even the beefiest cpus, gpus, and rams put together in a pc and thus that particular game will run poorly regardless. (This comes from the game developers) Generations/year of manufacturer have a very little to no impact.

How can I tell if a different processor will work with my computer?

Method 1Check the model number of the laptop, then check what kind of socket the laptop will support.Method 2You can use CPUID/Coretemp to test your socket now, then you know the socket name. Once you have a socketStep 2Find new cpu with the same socket and ask the laptop manufacturer whether this is compatible with the laptop. Although they fit the same socket. There are a lot of times where the CPU was not recognized due to chipset issue. Its always unwise to upgrade your Notebook CPU, usually the bottle neck is not in the CPU but in the hard disk, if it is slow, swap your hard disk for SSD.

How do i know what processors will work with my computer?

im thinking about upgrading my computers processor but i have no idea what processors will work with my computer. i have a toshiba satellite a205-s5800 it has an intel celeron 540 processor @ 1.86ghz.
i dont quite know how they classify some of the chips would it be i need a 540 chip? are they all the same amount of pins? i have windows vista and my computer is from 2008. my reason for wanting th upgrade is it is incredibly slow i know it is not my ram or any kind of virus ive tried many antivirus and antimalware and i have ran multiple system clean ups with no change. i have also formatted the hard drive and it is still slow. this leads me to believe that it is my hardware. i have upgraded the ram to 2.5gigs so the only major thing that could help me would be the processor. please help

Can I use 8 GB RAM with a Core i3 processor?

There are two constraints… one is the processor which in this case Core i3 is not sufficient information and the other is the motherboard and RAM sockets. The i3-8300 can support 64GB of RAM while the i3-8109U can support 32GB of RAM. There are other versions that I did not check. The motherboard has additional limitations for various reasons: manage power, manage cooling and most importantly manage the product line. I have one i3 laptop that is maxed out at 8GB and another that is maxed at 16GB.I suspect 8GB is fine but 4GB machines are a price point and you may not be able to upgrade your device.SUMMARY: you have to check your system and ask the maker. Crucial has a good site for checking some things.

Will games that require 2.0 ghz processor work on a computer with a Dual Core processor at 1.73 ghz?

dual-core is defined as having two processor cores on one die... in order for any application to utilize the dual-core capability, that application must be able to handle multi-threading on the two processors... if that application cannot handle that, then it will only utilize the one processor core instead of two... never played bioshock nor do i know the system requirements, but i'm guessing since the game came with the laptop that has dual-core, that it supports multi-threading using the two processor cores... most applications right now do not support multi-threading on two processors, but that is changing very fast as most programs are being rewritten to utilize the two processors... another note, dual core is not actually twice as fast as a single core eventho many people who are selling computers on ebay are advertising as twice the speed... for instance, single core = 2ghz... dual core = 1.6ghz... now, the speed of dual core will not be 3.2 ghz total, the speed will actually be in the middle around 2.4 ghz or a little bit higher, which is definately faster than the single core 2ghz... now a single core 2.4ghz will still be slower than dual core 1.6ghz eventho they both = around 2.4ghz... the reason behind this is because in dual-core, the data will travel simultaneously on two "highways"... whereas single core is using one "highway", so basically, dual-core can handle twice as much data than single core...
