How can I print a low-resolution photo at poster-size without it looking terrible?
I'm a digital artist, fine art photographer and webmaster. It's true that you can't enlarge a low-rez image to poster size, even in Photoshop. If the quality is good enough, you can use a special program called "PhotoZoom Pro", which will enlarge images much better than any other software. But it sounds like your image is not good enough for even that. So here's what I suggest. Go to a site called Fine Art America - all the manual artists there have to photograph their drawings and paintings in order to sell them in poster sizes on FAA. So, it's a constant topic of discussion and there are good instructions. With that help, you should be able to produce a good hi-rez image yourself. Do a search on the main discussion on FAA for : "photograph my painting", or look for the sticky post for all new members (which also covers it).
What will be the resolution of a large image in photoshop?
I am designing a poster also called panaflex in photoshop, it is 69 inches wide and 60 inches tall, if i set my print resolution of about 300dpi it comes out with a very big image size and my pc hangs as well.. am I doing something wrong? what should be the resolution of above mentioned image size.. I am always stuck with resolution is Photoshop. Please help.

You can`t change`s the resolution of a picture very good with most photo editing software`s.but you can try this it may help you to do what you want to do. If you have a printer and a Scanner and your picture is already in your computer you can use the printer to print it out with the small resolution and scan it back into your computer at a higher resolution of 300 or 350 and with a higher resolution you can make your picture bigger without it getting fuzzy or getting pixelated and use the picture with the Higher resolution to make a poster.
