What Rims Will Fit On Geo Prizm 1995

Grinding Noise Coming from front of Geo Prizm/ Toyota Corolla?

I hope you did not have to pay any of those mechanics. Did any of them put the car on a lift and run the vehicle? Most of the time you can pinpoint the sound with the vehicle in the air but not always. Sometimes it needs to be on the ground to have the weight of the car on the tires. There are so many things it could be but let me give you a few based on the information I have.
1. sounds stupid hub caps can make noise on the car while rotating, easy to check take them off and drive the car.
2. the brake rotors have a thin metal plate behind them. check to make sure they are not rubbing on the brake rotors.
3. Some axles have a center support bearing- I am not sure about this particular vehicle. Check that.
4. check to make sure the axles are not rubbing on something.
5. Drive the vehicle and pay attention to what the noise does when you accelerate, decelerate, or turn the vehicle. Also put the vehicle in neutral while coasting does this affect the noise. Is the vehicle hot or cold when it happens? Does the transmission shift right.

Number 5 are all of the things you should relay to a mechanic. I would take the vehicle to a transmission shop because they deal more regularly with noises in the drivetrain.

Look for the simple things. And most important how did the noise come about. Did it appear from no where or did it slowly get louder. Did someone work on the car and it started after they? Did you put new rims on the car? Are the rims on the car factory rims that came with the vehicle. Did you get in a wreck. Good luck and I hope you find a good mechanic.

I have a 1995 Geo Prizm. The stock tire size is 185/60r14. A friend gave me a set of 195/70r14. Will they fit without causing problems.?

NO! These tires are 8.83% (2.01") larger in overall diameter. Never acceptable to go over or under 3%. Speedometer will read 5 mph too slow. Handling will be adversely effected. Tire will rub the fender liner on hard turns. Power will be adversely effected. No way will these tires work.

How many lug rims on cavalier?

All cav's are 5x100 bolt patern.

In reply to the post below me: you, sir, are incorrect. Every J-body ever made was 5x100 bolt pattern. Same with all L-bodies and early N-bodies. There are no exceptions. In fact, I'm willing to go as far as saying from 1984-2004 every American sold GM car actually designed by GM (metro was an isuzu, prism was a toyota, etc), save for Saturn, was either a 5x100, 5x115, or 5x120 bolt pattern.

Don't believe me? go to http://www.tirerack.com - they're pretty accurate. Just start picking random GM cars.

Is it possible to take a rim from a 195/50R15 tire and put on a 195/65R15 tire?

Yes but when you change tire sizes, you need to be aware that it will cause your speedometer to read inaccurately, and affect your braking, cornering, acceleration, and fuel economy, for better or worse, depending on what is most important to you.A higher profile or taller or wider tire may rub against body or suspension parts when cornering or braking which can result in a serious problem, such as a blow out, after a while, or a damaged fender, etc. It’s critical that the tires on the front both be the same and that the tires on the rear both be the same exact size, and it’s best to stick to the originally specified tire, unless you upgrade to a slightly different size to get better performance in one respect, but this will cost you in some other respect. For instance I put taller tires on my old Miata, which improves the fuel economy, but that reduces acceleration. But I’m burning less gasoline, and the engine will last longer, because this car is geared really low from the factory, and the engine is overrevving at seventy mph, compared to other cars.

Car feels like it's fish-tailing...?

The rear axle is supposed to remain in place, but if you have a loose or broken spring, sway bar, or retaining mount problem then the axle can shift back and forth. The shifting will definitely give the impression of fish-tailing.

If left alone (unrepaired) it is guaranteed to get worse and it can come completely loose and cause the car to steer from the rear and go out of control.

Been there, done that. It ain't good.

This concern must be addressed by a mechanic, and quickly.

Hopefully, you may find it is something simple, like a spring retainer, but it is very important to get it fixed.

How do you remove the steering wheel on a 97 geo tracker?

A steering wheel puller is not need for a Geo Tracker!!!

Remove the center cap on the steering wheel. You should see a large bolt in the hole.Using a 3/8 or 1/2 inch drive socket wrench and socket; remove the bolt.

Now the steering will will come off very easily. Remember to note the position of wheel so you can reinstall correctly.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!

How to gain 10 mpg in my Geo Metro?

I have a 1995 Geo Metro 1.0L Manual hatchback. I love the car to death. It only has 87000 miles on it. I am averaging 41 mpg. I want to hit 50+. I have changed my driving habits (like my acceleration, breaking, etc.), but I haven't done any engine mods. Any tips to hit 50+ would be awesome! :) THANKS

How do you tow a car without damaging it? What precautions need to be made for 2 or 4 wheel drive vehicles with their parking brakes on to be able to tow it without causing damage?

Front-wheel drive vehicles can be towed quite simply by suspending the front wheels- either on a wheeled tow dolly or on the towing arm of the recovery truck. The parking brake (which acts on the rear wheels) must be released as the rear wheels must be free to roll. Automatic transmissions can be left in park in this case as the drive wheels are not rotating during the tow.Rear-wheel drive vehicles can be towed using this method as well, but the rear wheels must be suspended. The car is therefore towed backwards with the front wheels on the ground. The steering lock must be engaged with the front wheels pointing straight.Part-time 4x4 vehicles can also be towed by the above methods. The transfer case must be shifted to 2wd mode, and the driven axle lifted. Full-time 4x4 vehicles can't be towed with this method. With a manual transmission, flat towing with a tow rope or pole is possible. A second driver is needed to steer the towed vehicle, and the gear lever is simply left in neutral. This isn't possible to do for any distance with an automatic, as without the engine running many automatic transmissions can be damaged by towing. The most common way to tow a car without damage is to load it onto a flatbed tow truck. If the parking brake is applied and/or automatic transmission is in park, wheel skates can be used to allow the vehicle to be winched onto the back of the truck.

What is the most boring car you have ever driven?

Volkswagen Jetta. The most boring car ever madeAssuming that boring dosen't mean bad, but just unremarkable and interesting. What shape is a jetta?Car shape. How fast is a Jetta? It can drive on a highway. How's the steering?Functional. How much?Costs about as much as a car.Litteraly the least interesting car in existence. And the problem is they're so popular! It's just a golf with less trunk space people!I just hate that car so much. It's not even ugly, that would make it interesting. No. It's looks like what I drew when I was 9 and I drew a car.Second worst car in the entire world.Worst is the Prius.
