What Should I Name This Character For My Book

How do I name my book character?

Pick names you like. I name my characters after versions of my friends' names (for example, Katie became Kathy). I also just have some names that I like, so I use those.
If you want to incorporate name meanings into the names, I would suggest using a baby name site and typing in a certain trait that describes your character and using that name. A great site to do this is: http://www.parents.com/baby-names/

Hope this helps you with your names~

What is a good character's name for my book?

Popular boys names in the late 1990s were names like Cody, Kyle, Austin, Tyler, Brandon, Zachary, Justin among the more traditional names like Christopher, Michael, Andrew, Michael, David.  Top name for boys those years was Michael, which could allow for lots of nicknames. The city is 70% Caucasian, so he'd be from a white family likely, but you'd be mistaken about "worker" family, it's a very expensive city to live, among the most expensive in the country so he'd be more upscale, more privileged - the median home prices are around $2million. His dad would probably be in the tech industry, medical or real estate. I'm betting dad's a realtor, that would allow for the kid to have more free time on his own. So, I'd name him something along the lines of Kyle Jeffords, or Christopher Sutton, Michael Bennett, Zachary Tyler. Just food for thought, since you've picked such a distinct geographic region, the name should fit.source demographic Los Altos, Californiasource names Top names of the 1990s

For my book character, should I do a name that no one has heard before, or a familiar name?

Always give your character(s) a name that will suit them and not just some random name you think sounds good or that no one has used before. Each name, first and surname, have meanings. If you really know the characters you are going to use in your story then you will know maybe three basic traits that make your characters into who they are. Research meanings of name and find a name that has to do with the basic character traits.Hollywood used to do this all the time in giving actors and actresses names that would reflect the basic aura of the person. The delicious nature of Marilyn Monroe was born as Norma Jeane Mortenson (later baptized as Norma Jeane Baker). Producer wanted the name changed to something that was already part of her sex appeal. Many men around him would “MMMMMM!” in looking at her photos — so the MMMM translated into Marilyn Monroe. Archibald Leech was not sexy and no one would be motivated to come see the actor no matter how great a film he made — but as Cary Grant….Always find the appropriate name for your character and not just one that you think sounds great or unique.

If you wrote a book, what would you name the main character and where would he go?

I wrote a complete trilogy (LOULOU, CHAMELEON, SIMIA) and the principal protagonist was a woman (vs. your presumption that ‘he’ would be a man). Her name was Wendy Wilson, and she went from Paris to the Napa Valley, then to Beverly Hills (Los Angeles), then back to Paris, thence to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Ayers Rock (Australia) and back to London. She had an ‘eventful’ time and barely survived. If you happen to meet her, call me and give me her phone number, because I have come to like her—pretty, intelligent and highly capable in various ways*. I think we (she and I) would have a lot to talk about.*Caution: she can also be deadly. In Paris, she offs a contemptible character, a Hollywood film director, brilliantly, and gets away with it. But don’t mourn him—the bastard had it coming.

Why is sounder the only character to have a name in the book?

To show that the sharecropper and his family, especially "the Boy" didn't even exist as humans to most of the other characters in the book.

Book series with a character named Sorry?

It's the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson. An interesting series, particularly in a genre that tends to overuse certain ideas (dragons, robe-wearing wizards, etc).

The first book is 'Gardens of the Moon', that's the one containing the character Sorry. Sorry is a girl who is possessed by a wizard.
