Go to a motorcycle shop and have a sit on a few. This will help you size what you need. They also have used bikes so maybe you will find one that works for you. Take your parent with you. It will help them feel more comfortable about you riding.

If you want to be able to hit the jumps and get the serious performance get a 125 or a 250 if you are experienced enough. Two-strokes are FASTER than the four-strokes, unless you get the 450f but that is huge and expensive, plus you should be an intermediate or advanced rider.

As you have only the experience from riding the crf150f and are only 5ft 5 tall I think you may be better to wait till you are just a little taller before getting a 4 stroke 250cc. You would still be a good size for the crf150r or an 85cc and may be alright on a 2 stroke 125cc but think you should go sit on one at a shop before you thought about one of those. If you go for the smaller bikes you may have to be prepared to upgrade depending upon how tall you are likely to get. You can still race a crf150r and an 85cc for a couple more years. As a beginner at racing any of the known brands would be fine.

If you want something he won't grow out of I would recommend a 125cc. It's going to be a little tall for him, but all dirt bikes in nature are tall. It's very easy to slightly tilt them and put a foot down. I have friends who are 5'7 and ride 450s. The nice thing about a 125cc is they're still very fast, but also great bikes to learn on as well. Personally that's what I use as it's fast enough to have fun.

Riding a scooter has nothing to do with the ability to ride a dirt bike. It’s as relevant as the fact that he can ride a bicycle. Okay, we’ve established that he can ride and balance himself on a two wheeled vehicle. That’s the end of the relevance of riding a scooter.I would start him off on something like a 125CC 2 stroke or a 200 - 250cc four stroke to see if he likes it and wants to move up. If you put him in a 250 2-stroke or a 450 4-stroke it’s liable to scare the ever living bejeezus out of him and he’ll be afraid to ride. Another option is to go with a 2-stroke 85cc bike. Those a badass little machines and even they are capable of scaring you when you hit that power band. The only problem with that is if he really likes it, he’ll quickly want a bigger bike.

okay so theres this bike and its the yamah 2005 TTR-125 but it can be bored out to a 150cc which gives it extra power...and guess what...I HAVE ONE FOR SELL!!!! so im 15 now...and a girl but hey girls kick *** too...anyway so i started riding when i was 13 and i started on this bike and it was PERFECT to get started on and it already has kits on it and everything so you dont have to fiddle with it and it has ASV brakes and clutch so its perfect for those first crashes :] ...the only thing you have to do is change the plastics cuz they are pink(GIRL REMEMBER :]) haha any way i think it is just what you are looking for link is down below :] contact my dad if your interested

depends on your experience. You should be able to handle a honda crf 150-and you will LOVE it. you may even want to try a 125 2-stroke. You can git sum smokin deals on nice fresh used 125s. and they dont cost tooo much to maintain. the 125 will be great for free style mx if thats whut yer after.
