What To Say When You Call Back After A Job Interview

What should i say when calling back after an interview?

I had an interview last week and i asked if i could call him next week and he said "yes, wednesday or thursday i should know something by then." So tomorow is wednesday and I was wandering what should i say when i call?

What to say calling back after an interview?

Always after an interview always send a thank you note or a thank you email. I know from experience with interviews that they really like that and when it comes down to final decision they usually look at experence and if they got a thank you.

Call and say Hi I am so n so and I had an interview for your customer service position about a week ago. I was wondering how the process was going.

Usually if you don't hear within 2 weeks they either haven't decided yet or they did decide. Also companies are not required to call you to tell you that you did not get the job.

Also to the first answer NEVER tell them you have another job offer and that you need to know their decision, because thats like giving them an ultimatium and saying well tell me now or forget it.

Job interview - "we'll call YOU back"?

Just because they said they will call you back doesn't mean they will call you back and it doesn't mean they won't call you back. Nowadays when it comes to those funky managers most of the time you will NEVER, EVER know. They majority of the hiring managers nowadays and full of it.

However to some degree you do have that feeling whether or not you will be hired for the job. I mean with my job I was told that HR will be in contact with me and they never called me back a few weeks later I got another call from another location that wanted to interview me. They interview me and they liked me. I had a feeling that they were going to hire me for some reason. With the first location I went to the lady said "I' sure HR will be in contact with you." I already knew what that meant. I wasn't getting the job and that was it. You never know. Just like they are exploring the possibilities you have to keep searching and explore the possibilities yourself.

You never know but don't stop looking. Remember what they do and what they say will show you exactly how they treat people.

Best Wishes!!

If you are told to wait for a call back after a job interview, is that just a polite way of telling you that you won't be hired?

Not necessarily. You may have been in the queue early in the interview process, and they may hold out the job requisition for a longer period of time to assure that there is a larger pool of people to choose the best candidates from.If it’s a professional organization (white collar) it really takes a lot of internal coordination to do these hires. I mean a lot. When you’re paying someone a decent salary you want to be sure you’re doing it right.I said earlier today in another A2A: beware of any outfit that hires quickly, because they’re likely to fire quickly too.

What does it mean after a job interview if they say they'll call you in a couple days?

I just had an interview at Radioshack and the manager said she would call me in a couple days let me know and that she has a few other interviews today, do you think this means I didn't get the job? If I did get the job wouldn't she of told me right then and there that I got the job? Instead she said there are other interviews and she'll call me in a couple days sounds like an excuse to say no, I kinda doubt there are other interviews. What do you think?

How long after an interview should I call back to find out if I got the position or not?

It is a couple of ways to do this. First of all, if they say that they would get back to you in 24 hours and did not. You need to call them within 48 hours. This is what you say, Tell them your name and tell this that you were calling to find out the status of your application process and remind them when you interviewed. Another way is the "thank you" card that I mention often. Many people do not do this because they think it is corny. But this is a way that you will not be forgotten. Send a thank you card thanking them for thier time and mention that if no position is avaliable for you at the moment that you hope that they keep you in mind for future positiions.

Someone said, never call. That is WRONG. ALWAYS call. The simple truth is in today's economy, competition for jobs is stiff. They need to see that you really want this job.

If they say that they have chosen another candidate, then so be it. If they do not say that. Wait one week and call them again. Call once each week until they either hire you or go with someone else.

Find out how long that they keep applications on file. If they went with someone else make sure that they know that you are open for other jobs. Then call every 2 weeks once until your application has expired.

Remember that they interviewed you and you are a person of interest. Now you have to show them that you really want this job.

****Remember ALL companies want to know that the person that they are hiring, really wants the job. They also want to feel that the person that they are hiring is going to be a vested employee. (Working for them for years to come) Employee turn around causes companies millions of dollars a year. Showing that this is something that you really want, looks better to any prospective employer***

Why do employers never call back after interview?

A lot of times they are playing mind games with you, seeing if you will be responsible and take the initiative to follow up and call them instead. This shows them how serious you are about the job.

Other times, they really do become too busy. Or they haven't quite made their decision yet, and will call you at a later time.

Either way - call them and remind them you're interested!!!

Do employers call back after interview?

I disagree with the other 2 people who answered. At this point there's no way to tell if you'll get the job or not. Many times employers have more applicants lined up for interviews and they want to wait to make their decision, but that doesn't mean you don't have a chance. If the end of the week comes and you don't receive a call you can call him and say you are still interested in the job and wonder if he's made a decision yet. That will let him know you are serious about working and could give you a better chance of getting the job. The ones not hired won't get a call.
