What Universities In Maryland Can I Get Into With A 2.5 Gpa

Would a 2.8 GPA get me into UMD (University of Maryland)?

That depends on what program you would like to enroll in and what is your background. It might be hard for you to get in the program if that is very competitive. To tell you the truth, I entered UMD with an undergraduate GPA of only 76.37 out of 100, which is very poor. My TOEFL grade was 96 and my GRE grade was only 314. But now, I will graduate with a master’s degree of Systems Engineering. And my current GPA is 3.57.I was admitted not only by UMD, but also by several other universities like Boston University, Lehigh University, University of Pittsburgh and so on. I believe the reasons why I was admitted with very poor test grades is that I do have a strong background in Systems Engineering.I studied Automation in Xi’an Jiaotong University, one of the top universities in China. My GPA was poor because I was not very interested in studying what I was asked to learn and preparing for exams those days. Instead, I participated many professional practices and research activities.I was a member of the robot team of Xi’an Jiaotong University and we won the 3rd prize team award in 2014 ABU-ROBOCON National Game of China, which is an Asian-Oceanian College robot competition. Also, I was the technique director of the Network Operations Center of my university. And, I had quite a lot of interns in factories and power plant.I have to point out that GPA cannot represent a person’s full ability and there is chance for you to be able to enter UMD with a 2.8 GPA. But GPA is VERY VERY VERY essential. GPA not only affects your current admissions, but also your future paths.I’m going to continue seeking for my Ph.D. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Although I had a research thesis and experience as a graduate research assistant during my graduate study, I was rejected by many universities like Georgia Tech and TAMU. I do believe my poor undergraduate GPA is a big disadvantage. But I can do nothing about it. Luckily, I am admitted by Rutgers University and I have made the decision to go there.Anyway, the factors are multiple and I cannot tell which is more important. There might be chance for you to be admitted but I cannot tell the possibility because I’m not the administrator and I do not know your other information. I can only say I really regret that I didn’t study hard and get a better GPA.Good luck!

What good universities will accept low gpa?

There's a couple options for you. One, go to community college or two, go to state universities like CAL state, or New york state or anything that starts with state or apply to low ranking schools that fit your grade.

College is all about the experience, especially since career path is so difficult these days, even for Ivy league students. So, just find it in the Internet, and see what accepts them, and maybe talk to your counselor.

How hard is it to get accepted at the University of Maryland, College Park as a transfer student with a 3.5 GPA, teaching assistant experience, research volunteering, and engineering outreach volunteering as an international student?

It can be extremely easy if you went to a Maryland community college. I transfered here from The Community College of Baltimore County with nothing but my college transcript, a 3.0 GPA and 1 letter of recommendation. That's was it. It tells you on the transfer application checklist everything you'll need. Just follow that checklist and complete your application thourouly. Oh, and apply by the priority deadline and not the regular deadline. If you do as I say and have similar stats as mine, you'll most likely get in. The reason why you hear stories of students not getting g into Maryland with extremely high stats is because they don't apply early enough usually. Some wait by the normal deadline or a little past the normal deadline. I know a guy who got rejected as a transfer to Maryland with a 3.9 GPA that majored in Computer Science at the community college I went to and “did not get in”. Really, from my eexperience, Maryland is primarily all about applying early enough. Its still competitive but it doesn't have to be too much if you apply the right way.

What Universities/Colleges will accept 2.5 GPA's ?

As long as your GPA doesn't fall before 2.0, community colleges don't necessary be definite choice, but most likely would be, since very little College/University will accept someone with 2.5, near failing, GPA

Do you know any universities that will accept students with low Gpa's?

I got news for you: There are NO universities that will accept students with GPA's in the 1.0 range. Absolutely none! The minimum that you have to get to get into ANY college is a 2.0. It doesn't matter if it's a university or a community college. If your GPA were higher than a 1.0 and in the 2.0 range, I would suggest you going to a community college first to improve your grades. Since you have a 1.0 throughout high school, I just have one question:

WHAT WERE YOU DOING THESE PAST FOUR YEARS? OBVIOUSLY, IT WASN'T STUDYING!

Engineering GPA at Tulane University?

Anything less than a 3.5 GPA will keep you out of "research" Engineering Master's degrees. Anything less than a 3.0 GPA will keep you out of most "professional" (ie non-competitive) Engineering Master's programs.

You'll still be eligible for MSET degree programs with anything over ~2.5 GPA.

Is it easy to get into Frostburg State University?

Yeah, they take 63% of applicants. It's not very difficult.

I have a 2.5 gpa and I'm trying to transfer to UNCC as an out of state student what are my chances?

I'm currently a 4th semester engineering student at Frostburg State University in Maryland. I have a 2.5 GPA. I'm trying to transfer to UNC Charlotte for there Mech E with motorsport concentration. I'm actively participating in the SCCA and have many other qualifications as far as engineering and motorsport go (too much to list). I've got an underage possession of alcohol charge from this past summer which has been settled. In high school I had a 3.5 GPA and had average to slightly above average SAT scores, I took the ACT and scored about average, and had a 3 on the AP Physics test. I'm now realizing that I've sort of dug myself a hole with my GPA but i'm in the process of turning it around. I've applied at UNCC for the fall 2011 semester. What do you think my chances are of getting accepted? Any insight would be welcome

With a 3.393 overall gpa, and a 3.19 science gpa do i still have a shot at MD school?

I have been told to look into DO schools, but also that I may still have a chance at the lower tier MD schools, which is not a problem...I have a few extracurriculars and am adding more. Also I am currently a sophomore an incoming junior in college, so pretty much one more year to really solidify my stats. (attend UCLA). I will be taking the MCAT this January and hoping for around a 32.

My grades have a slight upward trend, overall gpa went from 3.266 freshman year and then my sophomore year my gpa was a 3.512, which made my overall gpa around a 3.4.

I do not really have any "bad" grades, one C+ in my first quarter of ochem but other than that my grades are B and higher. My gpa is so low, because I do have a alot of B's and B+'s throughout.

Any answers would be great!
