Whay Are My Subs Cutting Out

Why do my subwoofers keep cutting out?

Alright so last year i installed 2 type-s Alpine subwoofers and a 1000 max watt Kenwood amplifier into my Honda Civic. For a year basically i used to be able to turn it up as loud as possible with no issue then recently i can hardly turn it up without the bass cutting out due to the subwoofer cutting out. I tried to upgrade it to a 1500 watt amp but it basically had the same reaction. I was thinking of now upgrading to a 4000 watt monoblock power acoustik amplifier and i was wondering if one, would power acoustik be a suitable brand, and two could it be an issue with my wiring cables?

My subs are cutting out after i turn up the volume to 25?

check your amp gain.

Check these sites out...it is a good reference.

If your headlight dims with the bass notes, the “BIG 3” might work. If not an H.O. alternator will be needed, or else be prepared to pour a lot of $$$ for batteries.

This site explains the "BIG 3" upgrades.

Why do my subs cut out? #2?

Why do my subs cut out?
I'm running two solo baric l7 12 inches rated at 750 rms a piece from a t1500 rockford amp which is rated at 1500 rms at 2 ohms (which is what I have them wired at). My subs cut out after about 15-25 minutes of high volume then turn back on after a few minutes of being off. I suspect overheating. Is there anything I can do to make them last longer? Power isn't a problem, I have them hooked up to a separate kinetic 1400 amp batter that's in my trunk with 0 gauge wiring. I have the 1400 amp battery running into my car battery, They are supposed to equalize charge having the alternator charge both. I've had the subs in for about a month but only running on max for about 2 weeks. I made a rack for my amps, having them sitting an inch up and having nothing touching them in my impala trunk. I usually have the seats down to increase air flow but to no prevail. For more details on the sub, http://www.kicker.com/Solo-Baric_L7 . I have the 11 model so those figures are correct. I'm running a ported box made by kicker especially for two of these subs. I never smell anything but the electric smell you get with high-end subs. Also, the kinetic battery has only been in for 2 weeks which is why they only recently have been running on max. Thanks! Sorry for the double post, no one answered last time!

Why do my subs cut out when i start driving?

Ok so I have two kenwood excelon 12s (KFC-1202) and so forth... they are hooked up to a 1600 watt kenwood amp a connection through the speaker wire because my truck (F150 Supercrew) doesnt have the RC jacks already built into it. They worked when i had them hooked up in a smaller vehicle when i was in japan, however now they seem to cut out as soon as i start to drive. I just hooked them up yesterday and didnt get to drive around with them until last night (thinking the headlights could play a part). IM thinking it could be my battery isnt strong enough or perhaps i need a capacitator, even though im not knowledgeable enough to know even know what that does. HA. anyway, i was wondering what the problem is so i can fix it without having to recheck/rewire everything. has anybody had this problem before? and if so how did you fix it? OH and another thing. The subs kick back on when stopped at a red light or stop sign. Im pretty sure my amp goes into protection mode, but its tickin me owf... thx

Why do my subs cut out at high volume?

That sounds like you didn't line up your wiring correctly causing the amp to get hot and to shut down, then I would guess maybe a loose or coroaded ground cable or connection

Why does my sub cut out when i turn it up?

i got a FI btl 12 dual 2 ohm... its 2000 watt rms and 3000 peak. i have a orion hcca 2400d hooked up. i know its a little small for the sub but i dont think it should cut out since ive hadd 15s hooked up to it and worked just fine. i have a kinetics hc 600 100 farad capacitor. please tell me ehats the problem if ya can

What are the frequency settings for a subwoofer? I have a subwoofer with 4 different frequency settings. I need powerful, punchy bass. Should the setting be positive or negative?

What are the frequency settings for a subwoofer? I have a subwoofer with 4 different frequency settings. I need powerful, punchy bass. Should the setting be positive or negative? We have no idea exactly what you are talking about. Usually subs have a frequency setting potentiometer. The frequency pot will adjust the appropriate frequency cut. This is the frequency at which your subwoofer starts playing. You generally want your crossover set to where your speakers start to roll off (green line on the image above) for example, if your speakers can’t go much lower than 100Hz, your subwoofer’s crossover should be set to about 100 Hz.A gain potentiometer. The gain (or volume). Is important. Start playing a song, and turn the subwoofer down until you can’t hear it anymore. Then, turn the gain up until you can just start to hear it start to fill in the bass. Then stop. You’re done.and many of them have a phase setting. It can be a potentiometer but it usually is a switch. The phase switch, will switch between 0 and 180 degrees phase. Sometimes, depending on your room and gear, you may need to change the phase of your sub. One way will sound better than the other. When you produce sound from multiple separate speakers and amplifiers you can run the risk of having one of the speakers out of phase with the others. This means one loudspeaker driver is "contradicting" what the other is doing. When a speaker produces sound, it is vibrating back and forth. When you phase a speaker, the idea is to have both speakers moving in the same direction avoiding the possibility of them canceling each other as you can see in the video bellow. From the frequency chart bellow you will have an idea of frequency ranges.“…I need powerful, punchy bass…” you say. Well, as all others have mentioned, you should adjust the sub to what sounds best to you. You are the one who is going to listen to it. Keeping in mind that the lower you go on the frequency setting, the less you will hear the sub (you can fell it but not hear it bellow a certain point) and the higher you go on the frequency setting, the more bass/mid bass you will have coming out of the sub and the more you will hear the sub.If you tell us exactly what speakers and sub you have, or post some pictures we may try to help you further with your choices. With the information you gave, this is the best I can do. Hope it helps.

Why do my subs cut out when i turn them up?

Sound like your current is being crossed in the amp. Make sure your leads are not crossed. You may have fried it, but I hope not. They have a safety cut off to protect the circuits. Also check the ground wire and make sure it is properly grounded to the chassis. I fried a punch amp, I was so pissed. I could also be one of the voice coils in your speakers. If you can't fix it, then take it to the shop. My buddy was driving down the road and his amp caught the whole back of the car on fire. He did get out in time before the rest of the car went up in flames. Hot amps and combustible carpet goes up in flames fast, along with the rest of the plastic in a car.

Why does my subs cut out when i turn the volume on my stereo up? It only does it when i turn it up over half way. Any advice? :(?

I recently bought a new car (Toyota Corolla 2014 S) and had best buy install them for me and whenever i try to turn my music up loud my subs cut out and the come back a few seconds later. I have 2 12 inch kicker Comp R subs with a Kicker 1200.1 Amp (Sorry i don't know all of the specs on them). I talked to Bestbuy and they said that my radio is doing it as a form of protection? Can anyone please help me? I don't want to end up buying a brand new radio and everything that is required to install it.

Why does my sub cut out when i turn up the volume?

Get you a 1 Farad or larger battery and it will fix it.
