Car makes squealing noise in idle?
The noise you hear will most likely be the part that is called a throw out bearing it is part of the clutch system. is free turns while at all speeds. to narrow it down, does it go away when you push the clutch in? if so them that is what it will be. A belt will make that noise at all speeds or stop after it gets hot. So first check and make sure that the belt or belts are tight. The if you have a serpentine belt make sure the idler pulley is not making the noise then check the tension pulley is also good. you can do this by taking a can of WD-40 and spray the pulley it self, if the noise goes away the that pulley is bad, do them 1 at a time. then go ahead and spray a little on the belt and see if it goes away, because the belt could be bad. That all depends on how long it has been between belt change.

I've taken it to a mechanic but he can't figure out what the problem is without hearing the noise. It has been making this noise for awhile but it just got way worse. This morning my service engine light came on and I'm getting really worried! My brakes are fine and everything looks intact under the hood. I am completely stumped :( The belt has some sort of black stuff on it, maybe someone before me put some belt conditioner on it.. could that be what makes it squeak? I am going to have the belt replaced anyway, just not sure if there is another problem.

my car is a 1995 honda accord with 176,700 miles. I've read some forums online saying it might be the throwout bearing. Could it be that? Since I bought my car, it has always grinded going into 5th gear so the clutch will probably have to be replaced too. So, is it worth fixing or should I just sell it? I runs really great but I just don't have the money to replace the clutch.
What does it mean when a car makes a high pitch squealing noise?
When I start my car it makes a high pitch squealing noise under the hood. It gets quiet after it warms up but you can always hear a little noise. It does it more when you turn the steering wheel so my fiance'e replaced the power steering pump but it still makes the same noise. What could this be??
Car is making a squealing noise when pressing on the gas?
I drive a 97 Geo metro, and every time I press on the gas it makes a loud squealing noise, I checked the oil and it was right at the mark were it says "add 1qt", but I'm afraid to drive it anywhere, cause I thought it might blow the engine or something. Does anyone know why its doing that, is it just the oil or could it be something else?
