Is 26 years old to old to go to college?
I wanted to go to college to be a veterinarian when I graduated high school but was talked out of it by people. I regret not going and proving them wrong. I’m 26, and have a stupid cashier job. Going NO WHERE IN LIFE. I am frustrated and need a new job but it is hard to find a great well paying job that has hands on work. I hate waiting on customers. I hate just standing around. I want a job that requires me actually moving, listing things, doing SOMETHING. Having an actual job. I want a job where I am always busy doing something. But I don’t know what?! I was thinking of going to college. I’ve been told “but it’s like four years of that” I would have been graduated by now if I just went after high school. I regret it so much. If I can’t go to college, then what the heck am I going to do with my life?? I feel so stuck. I’m around such unmotivational people. I want to have a great successful life and I feel I will never have that because I am so lost. Any advice?
Where should I go to college next year?
I live in California, so I am biased in favor of Mount St. Mary's. I have heard it is a good school, but not any particular subjects for which it is known. If they have a good academic program, then living in California is certainly more pleasant than the others mentioned (except possibly Virginia), unless you love cold weather sports.
Should I go to College in Hawaii?
I would. Even if you drop out at least you are still in Hawaii.
Can I Still Go To College if I failed 9th grade?
Ok I failed 9th grade last year not because im not smart enough to do the work. But because I was wrongly accused of selling someone an "illegal peice of a plant" is what I will call it and I missed my whole second semester because of it. So now im in 9th again and I must admit that im not making the best of grades I barley passed last semester. But I want know if next year my sophmore year if I make good grades untill I graduate will a college see i changed my ways and accept me? If your going to be an a** hole please dont answer my question but to those of you who can tell me the 411 on things I would greatly appreciate it. - That Cool Dude "Brad"
Am I wrong for not going to college?
My dad says college is the best choice for me. He and my older sister went to college so I'm basically expected to go to college. but I found out if you fail a course in college or can't keep your GPA up then your forced to pay back thousands of dollars. My highest GPA in high school was 2.6 and I didn't do too well on finals. I think learning a trade or joining the military will be good for me, despite everyone telling me how much I'll be missing out or how low my income will be. I've always been a outcast or I'd be the one doing things that's socially unacceptable, like next year I'm joining advanced English class. Most kids my age hate reading. I already lost one of her books. :/
Should I go to college first and then go into the Marines, or just go into the Marines straight out of high school?
It's been a while, but I believe you have two choices. You can get a degree first then enter as an officer which pays much better then NCO's, or you can join first then let them pay for your college tuition. I believe you can even get your college degree during your time in the CORPS, but please check first. And with college tuition being rediculously expensive, you really need to decide exactly what you want out of your time in the CORPS before making up your mind.Do you just want the experience in the CORPS to grow and to see what you are capable of ?Or do you want skills specific to the MARINE CORPS?Do you just want your tuition payed for so you don't get out of college in severe debt?Or, do you want a possible career ?If I was in a position like yours, I would continue asking questions on Quora and talk to at least two people who have recently been in.Also, there's a big difference between Officers and NCO's. Make sure you understand what that difference is in the field you wish to enter into.If you decide what you think you want, feel free to ask me any other questions on this.Do not just join without finding out the answers or you will regret it. Every United States MARINE on Quora will be happy to talk to you and answer the questions you need to make an informed decision.I wish you luck. Thanks for the request!!
Should I go to college or continue working?
I think everyone (excepting child-prodigy-level geniuses who are OUTLIERS and should not be counted) should go to college if they want to be successful. You don’t say what the specific job offer is or what the salary would be, but I can almost guarantee you that over the course of your lifetime you will earn more with a degree than without one.Now is the best time to go to college. You are young and you don’t have any big financial obligations (kids, mortgage, etc).It will be much much harder to get a bachelor’s degree once you are 30. Some of the most amazing people I ever met were at my community college. One of my fellow classmates had three children, a full time job, and was completing the prerequisites for a nursing program. She worked very very hard and was very smart. Her grades could have been much much better had she less obligations in her life. She was smart enough to have gone to medical school if she had wanted, but that was financially impossible because she was supporting her kids herself. It’s much harder to do college when you’re an established adult.Apart from the financial benefit of college, you can’t underestimate the growth and learning that will occur through the educational experience. There will be no other time in your life besides college when you can dedicate your entire self to learning information. I find it to be an incredibly exhilarating experience, and I love challenging my mind on the daily.4 years seems like a long time now, but compared to the 40 years you will spend working in your field it is just a fleeing period of time. Many many adult students I met at community college had huge regrets about not going to school when they were younger. Taking a job and working may seem like a good idea now, but without a degree it is hard to get jobs that will advance your career. This figure is based on 2009 numbers but it illustrates my point:Just How Much Is That College Degree Worth?
