Where Do Returned Items Go After Returned To A Store

What do stores do with returned items that have been opened?

Depends on the product. If the store accepts returns of open packages of bedding, undergarments etc., trash. Other kinds of goods, open box sales. Some manufacturers allow a certain percentage of returns that are presumed to be defective andwill be destroyed. Credit is issued in the claimed amount. Generally, ironically, the more liberal the return policy, theless stuff is returned. The customer bought the merchandise because he wanted it and he is satisfied to have the reassurance.

What happens to the used clothing items you return to the store? Are they put back for sale?

We asses the quality of the returned item.If it’s basically just been in the shopping bag you took it out of the store in, no problem. It gets put back out on the floor. If you’ve removed the tag but it’s otherwise in perfectly good condition, we will re-tag it. Many retail stores have a small tagging gun with a needle point that can reinsert the plastic piece that holds a tag. It may look *slightly* different but will be put back out on the floor. If it’s clear you have washed it (yes, we can tell), worn it out (yes, we can tell), or that you have done anything that noticeably alters the condition of the garment—including stains, rips, or the smell of body odor that some people are apparently dizzyingly unaware of—we will mark the item as damaged and send it away. Individual brands will treat their damaged returns differently, but it may be donated (rare), thrown away (likely), or completely incinerated (to preserve “brand value”).

Can you return an item at any Victoria's Secret store? Or do you have go to the same store you bought it from?

Having a sister in law that works for Victoria’s Secret, yes you can return your item to any store you wish !
The biggest thing that bothers me is that they do not allow you to return anything you buy online to one of their stores. This is probably the first time I have ever seen a company do this and I am an avid online shopper. Maybe it’s because they don’t carry everything in their stores, however, I hardly see this as an excuse. As someone who worked in retail, we had online items that we didn’t sell in stores returned to our stores with no problem in trying to sell the item after the return. I believe the same policy should apply with their online purchases as their in store. If the item still has the tags attached and have not visibly been worn, then there should be no problem with the return of that item. After all, Victoria’s Secret isn’t known for their low prices. I’m sure they could afford to do an online return in store.
Another thing that I noticed during my online shopping is that unlike most of the online shopping that I do, Victoria’s secret does not remove styles or items from their website that they do not have in stock. It makes it a pain when you’re trying to pick your 5 items for $25 and then have to go back and keep picking more because it didn’t show the item as out of stock.
Other than their return policy and item issues, I have never had a problem shopping with them online. The items I buy generally fit, thanks to their size charts and I always receive the orders in a very timely fashion. Even with using regular ground shipping, I have never waited longer than a week for my order to come.

What happens to returned items from walmart?

It depends on the item and why it was returned.Anything damaged, broken or otherwise not working, is sent to claims. Fromt here it gets shipped back to manufacturers for reimbursement. Some items, like underwear, bathing suits etc. are sent back to claims, regardless of condition. The only exception to this would be if it is returned in a sealed unopened package. Otherwise, if there is any chance at all it has been worn, even briefly, it will be claimsed out.Food returns, over the counter medications etc. are also sent directly to claims.Items that were purchased online, and that are in working order, are only put on the floor for resale if it is something sold via Walmart itself and is something carried in inventory. Any online sales that took place through 3rd party vendors, are either claimsed out or end up needing to be returned to the seller. What determines whether something is put out to be sold, or claimsed are the item type, the item condition, who sold it originally and the company policy.

Would the store know if the item your returning is stolen?

They may not but you only get to have 2 a year from most stores and they only let it be so much money and will not take cd dvds and will take your driver license. If you are stealing then you are wrecking the ecconomy!!! Why not work or do not get it. If your asking as you know someone stealing why not help them out and tell on them!!

How late can you return an item to Walmart?

After having worked in multiple Walmart’s in different markets and states I can honestly say that every store is different, because not every store or for that matter manager on duty or store manager follows policy the same way. In some stores you will not receive cash for a no receipt return even though policy states you can, you will only receive a gift card. I work at a store like that even if you return a item under a dollar we’ll give you a gift card. In some stores especially ones who are open 24 hours a day, you may return items if the service desk is closed for the night at other registers but not at all stores. At some stores certain customer service managers might be willing to go to a regular register turn a key to make it possible to do returns on them and then do the return but some customer service managers wont in the exact same store. For myself once I start the close down and am escorting or in possession of cash from the registers I have closed, I will not digress from that duty to do a return. In general if the store is not open 24 hours a day it is easier to do a return before the service desk opens than after it closes because there is more time for the customer service manager to do it. The closing customer service manager has a finite amount of time left to get her job done versus the one who’s day and duties are just beginningAs for the length of time to do a return in general most everything we carry is a 90 day return however there are items that are 1 year, 30 days,15 days, and 14 days as well. Some of those items if they carry a serial number and your cashier properly scanned it at the point of sale we can pull up if it is returnable without a receipt. Some items will not be allowed by law to be returned no matter what.If you are getting the idea that there are a lot of rules for returns you would be correct, if you are getting the idea that it really is luck of the draw in some areas you would again be correct.

When you return a item and it says credit only what does it mean?

If you return the item to the store they will give you a store or merchandise credit which will need to be used at the store. You will not get a refund on your credit card. You should look at the merchandise credit when you get it to check if there is an expiration date. You might need to make a new purchase by a certain date. You should have your credit card with you when you go to the store.

If you mail the package back you will need to pay for shipping unless they gave you a free label. Your credit card will be reimbursed the full amount of your purchase unless you are making an exchange.

Can you buy food with food stamps and return it to the store for cash?

I would like to know if stores will allow a person to return products purchased with a EMT food card in exchange for US currency, or cash money? If so what products & stores work best? My best guess is baby formula from Walmart.

P.s, This is for a report due at school, My teacher Ms. Gansfeild ordered me to research the topic and think of solutions to the problem. I am not old enough to apply for an EBT card, and I don't think I'll ever need to.

If i buy thing from one Ross clothing store can i return them at a different Ross ?

Absolutely. It is still one company, and therefore, you can return at another store. Just for your information, a section of their return policy which applies to you is stated below:

"Full refund on merchandise (not used, worn or altered) accompanied by the original receipt within 30 days of purchase. (If merchandise was paid for with a check, cash will not be issued for ten (10) days. Otherwise refund will be made in the same form as the purchase.)

Merchandise returns with a receipt older than 30 days will be exchanged or credited with store credit.

Merchandise returns without a receipt will require a valid picture ID and if approved by the refund system, will be refunded in the form of a store credit or exchanged at the item’s current selling price."

You can basically return items from a different location, but of the same store with many companies! I hope this helps! :)
