Where Does A Leopard Gecko Live In The Wild

Do leopard geckos live on there own (IN THE WILD) or do they live in groups. HELPP?

Both.

There are lone geckos living where the environment can only sustain a few spread out individuals.

There are also burrows and systems of burrows which some geckos share....they are not social, but they tolerate each other.

Can a leopard gecko live in florida in june?

doubt what you are seeing is a Leopard gecko. They are native to southern Asia. Some commonly mistaken geckos that LOOK like Leo's are:

~Texas banded Gecko:

(Oh, and all thought the gecko's colors may not be as colorful in the pictures, not every gecko has the same pattern.

(If you notice, all these geckos look similar to the Leo, but they are a total different species. But, all these 'banded' geckos are related to themselves.)

--------------------
NO, Anoles and Leo's can NOT mate..Leo's are much bigger, and Leo's have an aggressive courtship. An Anole would most likely be eaten by the Leo. Don't think I am crazy, I have seen it happen before. If the lizard IS in fact a Leo, then it had tto be a pet.

Wild Caught baby leopard gecko?

Sounds like some lost a gecko! Are you sure its leopard gecko though, double check and make sure.

heres the answers to your questions:

I. they are NOT native to the US and hail from the Middle East. Not sure if it would be safe if you let it loose if it were a gecko.
2. its fine if you know the requirements and have the time and space. Take it to a vet to get it checked out first as you don't want it being ill.
3. leopard geckos do tame easily with frequent handling (10 mins a day)

Can 2 leopard geckos live in a 10 gallon tank?

Yes and no. 2 baby leopard geckos can live in a 10 gallon tank. An adult leopard gecko cannot live in a 10 gallon tank. A adult needs at least 20 gallons each. Also leopard geckos are solitary and do best alone. If you decide to house leopard geckos together have a spare tank at the ready. If they fight you need to separate them. Males cannot go together they will fight. Male and female will breed causing un-needed stress on the female. Female normally do ok but sometime they will fight.

As for a leopard geckos tank do not use sand. Leopard geckos in the wild do not live on sand. They live on hard packed rocks and dirt. Sand is a horrible substrate. It causes impaction and a host of other problems. Do not use sand. You slate tiles, paper towels, news paper, reptile carpet or shelf liner. You will need more hides. 1 leopard gecko needs at least 2 if not 3. 2 leopard geckos need at least 5 hides. No, you will want the heat source(s) on one side of the tank. Leopard geckos need a heat gradient with the warmer side being 88-90F and the cooler being 75-80F. 95F is too hot. I recommend using a heat bulb only if the under tank heater doesn't get the tank warm enough. Leopard geckos use belly heat not direct heat form the sun. They are also nocturnal and lights can bother their eyes.

Can you pair leopard geckos with anoles?

No. While ankles require a more humid and semi-tropical environment, leopard geckos require a more flat, warm, dry environment. Not only do they require different sorts of habitats, the leopards would likely try to eat the anole.

What types of insects do leopard geckos eat in the wild?

“Leopard geckos feed on crickets, roaches, waxworms, mealworms, super worms, hornworms, and other insects. In captivity, most individuals will prefer hunting food themselves. The majority of captive leopard geckos refuse to eat dead prey. Crickets are the most common food source to give them in captivity, as they can hunt them in their enclosure the way they would in their natural environment, though mealworms and dubia roaches (and, less frequently, other roach species) are also common. When food is scarce, they can rely on their ability to store excess fat in their tails. Sufficient calcium and vitamin D3 is also very important for their diet. How they obtain it in the wild is still unknown, although they likely receive this from their varied prey of moths, spiders, ants, and other insects. In captivity, it is near impossible to completely duplicate the diet they will have in the wild, so the most nutritious insects known are offered, usually dusted with a fine calcium powder with added vitamin D3 and sometimes gut loaded by feeding. Leopard geckos will eat until they're full and live insects that are left uneaten in their tank can become troublesome for the gecko, particularly crickets which will nibble at the lizard's tail.[5] Their keen sense of smell and sight allows them to search for food in the wild, so they will stalk their prey somewhat like an actual leopard will, moving their tail, and then striking when they are satisfied.[4]”Leopard gecko - Wikipedia

How do leopard geckos get calcium and vitamin d3 in the wild.?

this question came to my mind when i was dusting my leo's crickets last night so i just wanna know how they get it. otherwise they sell REP-CAL in the wild.

How do leopard geckos get calcium and vitamin d3 in the wild.?

They don't usually. This is why most captive animals live slightly longer than wild animals. If the animals are in a very sunny area, the UV rays from the sun can provide them with some calcium to strengthen their bones.
