What is a guest book, and what purpose does it serve in weddings?
A guest book is for sentimental purposes, really. Your wedding will be a whirlwind, so you’ll quickly forget the fleeting moments you spent with some of your guests. The guestbook is just a sentimental token for you and your spouse to look back on and remember who shared your special day with you. Most times it’s placed near the entry of the ceremony and again at the reception so people can sign their names and write a little note or well wishes of their own.
Where does the guest book go? reception or wedding?
Wherever you'd like. I've seen them where they are set up as you are about to walk into the ceremony. I've also seen them where they are next to the table with table assignments before the reception. As long as it's somewhere where everyone HAS to go, that's all that matters.
What are examples of poor wedding reception etiquette?
1- getting too pissed too soon. Wait until the photographer is away. And jesus christ, don't bring drugs to a wedding, just have a beer.2- fighting and arguing. Don't like someone in your family? Now is the time to grow up and pretend you do.3- complaining about anything! You're getting a free dinner. Don't like it? Shut up and eat.4-women wearing white. In general the bride wants to be the only one in white. Also, wearing black is a sign that you disapprove apparently.5- not bringing a gift. No, people don't get married to get gifts. But unless you are financially challenged, you should get something for the couple.6 - bringing a plus one that wasn't invited. This happens a lot. Weddings are expensive and quite important to the couple, as such, they often don't hand out plus ones willy nilly. You can ask before hand if you can bring someone, but be prepared for a no.7- proposing. Yes, it's romantic. It's a wedding, they happy couple have paid a silly amount to make it like this. This is their day. Not yours. Do not propose at someone else's wedding. Ever. No announcements if possible. Got a bun in the oven? Save it for next week.8- not turning up when you said you would with no notice. Seriously, they've made a table plan, you are leaving an empty seat and a plate of food for the bin. Unless you just broke your leg that morning, no excuses.There are so many different things people can do to annoy the bride and groom, and everyone else. In general just act like an adult and be respectful and you will get in fine.
Wedding guest book... ceremony or reception?
I think the reception is fine. I'll be honest, I can't remember the last time I looked at my guest book.
Place card, guest book, and wedding card box all on one table?
For the place card table I'm having tall floral decor and candles and I'm wondering if it would be too much to have the card box and guest book there at the same table? Should I do a separate "gift table?" And what should be in the front entrance of the reception? The place card table or the gift table? Also should I have the guest book at the church?
What is that person called that sits at a wedding reception that recieves the gifts and has the guest book?
They have different names. They can be called "Greeters", since they're there to greet the guests, remind them to sign the guest book, and take gifts. I've also seen them to be called "Table Attendants". Sometimes it's not even needed to have people stand at the tables, but I'm having a few because I want someone to watch the wedding gifts and to also greet guests.
