Which Bird Should I Get

Should I get a snake or a bird?

I own a lot of birds and they don t have any odour or bad smells, they just smells like birds do which is sometimes nice. In my experience birds don t smell bad at all. So i think you should get a bird such as a lovebird or bigger ones, if you want them to bond with you. It is best to get one male bird or female, male is better for me because when a bird chooses its person(mate)it will stay with them forever and will always want you, and will not chose someone else to love.
usually male birds can talk more than female birds. birds will get lots of attention from people.
usually when my birds are loud, they either want something or they want attention. Parakeets are not loud really. mines can be shut of using a blanket and closing the lights. same goes with the finches.
my lovebirds and cockatiel get along really well so they just stay beside me all day, makes no screeching noises when they are beside me.
However parakeets are more messier than the bigger birds. once again you might not agree to me but I just don t think bird smells bad. Maybe its because I clean their cages everday and stuff, and they get baths every day too if they want.
I ve never had snakes, but i know they are the quiet type and won t really bond to the favourite person or kiss or cuddle with you. birds do that, especially the bigger ones. they love cuddles and kisses. my bigger ones don t smell at all. they just poop lesser and larger ones than my smaller ones. So far, I think the large birds are the best. Birds wont immediatly die being closed to an oven. the oven just needs to be turned off, my birds sometimes go on my oven to stay with me when i am cooking. ovens or candles won t kill them. but if it is too much hot or steams they will die.
but birds can only smell, when the owner haven't cleaned them or bathed them. their poop rises up and it goes/sank into their feathers.

What bird should I get?

I have had experience with owning multiple Budgies, and honestly, I love them! But I wanted to maybe look into adopting another species of bird. I'd like to adopt a bird, not buy one. I asked a question on here asking if an Amazon Parrot was right for me, and well, you'll see for yourself: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20170216023039AAOnu2q

Anyways, is there another bird that would be right for me? I want a bird that will be loving to anyone they meet, if I train them to be. Talking is not needed, though it'd be pretty neat! I'd prefer medium sized birds, but any size is fine. A bird that gets along with children, as I have little cousins and relatives that visit every once and a while. I've especially been looking into a Green Cheek Conure, and I think they would be good! But what do you guys think? I have no interest in getting a finch or anything like that. I want one that needs human interaction. I'm home almost all day because I am home schooled so even a bird that doesn't like to be alone for a while is fine! Thanks! :)

Should I get a bird or a hamster?

I have both birds (although not parakeets) and hamsters myself, and both are adorable.

To be entirely honest it is up to you. I find my hamsters to be more handle-able and sociable with me than my birds. However they don't live as long as i believe parakeets do, and they are nocturnal, meaning they need handling on a evening/night rather than in the daytime like your birds do.

I also have pet rats, and while some people think this is gross they are usually people who haven't met them. They are more intelligent than hamsters (rather like a very small dog) they can be taught to answer to their name and do tricks.

The downsides to pet rats are that they need to be kept in pairs (at least) and they need a bigger cage than a hamster does.

Which birds are good to have as a pet?

Have you ever seen a parrot or similar with feather plucking? Here’s what it looks like.Cold and miserable and very unhappy. Some people go so far as to put sweaters on their birds to try to keep them protected and warm. Feather plucking happens with an unhappy bird who isn’t getting the care, company, mental stimulation or the nutrition they need, it can also be caused by an allergy or other environmental problem. Imagine being so unhappy or so in pain that you pull pieces from your body even past the point where you bleed….Tread carefully with getting a parrot. They have very exacting needs. Their highly intelligent and very expensive. They need clean, very large cages, comfortable temperatures, specific foods that can get pretty spendy. They require a lot of commitment. Far more than a marriage or a child really since a spouse can be pretty self-contained, a bird can’t. Kids eventually grow up and also become self caring, birds can live longer and never need less care.Little parrotlets have similar needs but some, like the budgie don’t live nearly as long. Still, they can be a really fun companion and very rewarding if you have the time to spend with them. It’s very cruel to buy one parrakeet and then not be able to spend the time they need with them being their flock. Keep that time commitment in mind, they’re very bright birds, able to talk and require more stimulation to keep healthy than songbirds. They DO have mental needs that can’t be ignored because of their higher intelligence.Songbird types (Finch or canary) also need clean cages, comfortable temperatures, specific foods and if possible 2 or more birds for company but they don’t require the intense human input as a flock member that a parrot does. They’re not as smart but just as engaging in their own way. Their songs and plumage can be very lovely and cheerful. They also don’t live as long so the commitment isn’t as long either.Bird rescues are recommended by some to get you acquainted with birds. They don’t always exist in your area, but you might try joining a bird fanciers group if those are around your area or finding someone who has the type of bird you think you might like and asking to spend some time with their bird or talking to them about their birds special needs to see if it fits your lifestyle.

How should I get birds out of my attic?

borrow a cat.

Which pet should I buy, a bird or a dog?

In simple words : NONEI think it's ethically and morally wrong to put a price tag on animals. Animal trading industry is full of brutality. They are forcefully bred to reproduce to fulfill the demands. Buying and selling of animals don't show you the whole picture. You might bring a puppy home from a decorated store but in fact you don't get to see how that puppy was born and what does his mom had to go through to keep on reproducing only to be taken away to make profits.Take a look at what it takes to keep the business running. It's appealing to see the conditions of dogs. The profit is given more important to the social well being of dogs.In the last image a bitch is tied to a stand so that she can't resist during coupulation i.e. forced to have intercourse. I think anybody with a basic level of understanding would call it a rape. So think what you support before buying pets. The one I picked up from road and now he has taken over everything. The one I have rescued few days back and now looking after him. Poor kid got bitten by dogs but now doing good and hopefully will fly soon.Be compassionate.Adopt. Don't shop.

I want a pet bird, WHICH ONE SHOULD I GET!?

a bit of background info for you, i have owned a bird before. i had a nanday conure, and i absolutely loved her, Lucy was probably the best pet ive ever had. she was loving and affectionate, very trainable, engaging, and just really a great bird.
i had to get rid of her, because she didnt particularly like my little siblings and my parents were afraid they would stick their fingers in the cage and get bitten.
now theyre a few years older (10 and 13) and more responsible. so ive been able to convince my dad that i need a pet for companionship and responsibility. so, im in the process of choosing a new pet bird.

now on to what i would like in a bird...

noise is a given, i understand there is no quiet bird, and every bird is an individual in its behavior.
so, i was completely fine with the noise level of my nanday, she screeched some, if she was getting lonely, and she talked/babbled a lot... it was pretty adorable, really. so anywhere around a nandays noise level, give or take.

mess is another given, im fine with mess. id prefer a bird without a lot of dust, if possible. if not, im perfectly capable of running a vacuum lol.

size is my real deal breaker, i get more afraid as the beak gets larger lol. nandays are relatively small, and i can promise you, the one time Lucy bit me (while i was hand training her), it still hurt! so the smaller the beak, the better. howeverrrr... i dont want a bird smaller than a conure. but i wont be getting a toucan any time soon! lol.

specifically, ive been looking at getting either, another conure of some kind, a love bird (not a pair), a quaker, or (and these are a bit larger, it would depend on the bird as to if i was comfortable with it or not) an electus, or af. gray congo. really, i have non idea. i know i dont want a macaw or cockatoo, and thats about all i know! haha. help!? suggestions!?

Should i get a male or female bird?

im thinking of getting a parakeet, but am not sure if i should get a male or female...which one is more affectionate/ friendly...is one gender louder than the other?? also, i have a dog, and i was wondering if i keep the bird in my room on a shelf/stand in the cage, do you think my dog would try to attack it?? when i would let if out, i would close my room door, and keep my dog out for a while...i need help...thanks!
