Which Candidate Would You Rather Have

Why do the presidential candidates bash each other, rather than simply tell us their plans to restore America?

I agree, definitely not like it was back in the day

Would you rather hire an internal candidate with a great reference but average interview or an external candidate with a stellar interview and great references?

That’s an interesting and tough question. I once had an internal candidate who’d been with the company five years, with a glowing reference from her current manager, a person I knew and trusted. We also had an external candidate with good references and a solid work history. We went with the internal candidate. She was a total loser in just about every count. Attendance issues, slacker, malingerer, liar, sneak. I finally called the previous manager again and said, what happened? Are we doing something wrong? And he said. That’s who she is. She never pushes it so far that she gets put on probation or canned, but no one wants to work with her. (This was before I was in HR, btw.) Find an opening somewhere else and give her a great recommendation and pass her off to be someone else’s problem.I refused to do it. I caught her everytime she screwed up and soon placed her on a Performance Improvement Plan. She acted appalled that someone would do that to sweet little her. She had 90 days to clean up her act or she’d be terminated. Instead she came to me with a request to transfer because I was picking on her. No go. Our company did not allow those on PIP to transfer. On day 88, when I preparing her discharge papers, she came in and resigned. Actually just what I’d hoped for.She had the audacity to use me as a reference when she started job hunting. I loved it. Back then we could really tell the story as it was to those calling for a reference. So I am very careful about internal candidates. I really vet them.

Would you rather be beaten up, beat someone up, or run around the block naked?

run around the block naked so I wouldn't harm anyone.

Should Democrat Howard Schultz run as a third-party candidate? Would you vote for him?

Schultz would be a good Potus.

As an interviewer would you judge candidates by their resumes and shortlist or would you rather meet him?

To assess a candidate to know whether he is suitable for a particular job or not, we may have to use more than one tool.Resume, if it is presented truthfully, could do half the work. Careful study of resume will help us to understand the technical skills imparted by formal education and experience. We may also come to know the theoretical aspirations of the candidate. At times we may even know the references and speaking to them may give some idea about the candidate. References suggested in resume may present us biased versions but careful analyses of what we hear may guide us to some extent to understand the nature of the person regarding whom we are talking about. The process of short listing by comparing the resumes may help us to scan and identify the probable potential candidates.Meeting the candidate, in my view, is a must. By having a good interaction, we can assess the strengths and weaknesses of the person and can come to some conclusions regarding suitability of the candidate for a specific job.In addition, the meeting will give us an opportunity to study the body language of the person so that we can assess his character to some extent. If we have more qualified and suitable candidates than the number of posts we can offer, I suggest, we need to conduct group discussion on a relevant topic so that we can identify the most suitable candidates among them.In all, we better use all tools available and select the best.

Negative Campaigning...do you approve of your candidate using it?

One of us can't fix the problems in politics today, but I do think the more people that speak up the likelyhood of change is greater. With the right to "Free Speach" in mind..Most all of these responces are well put, honorable and explained in a positive manner: Not so tough is it? Maybe we can teach our Politicians what we like to see and hear. Thank you all for your Answers.

Would you rather be stranded on a deserted island with Donald Trump or Barack Obama?

WOW! I just read the other 18 answers … I had no idea cannibalism was enjoying such an upsurge in popularity in this country. Some of the answers given to this question … you can almost see the people drooling! … I guess conservatives will soon have another label to give to the far-left.Anyhow … I’d choose Trump over Obama.Obama is certainly a charming conversationalist but he’s proven time and time again that while he talks the talk he does not walk the walk.Trump at least, with his background, would know how to build a shelter and probably lots of other useful things to like a water system, furniture, utensils and things like that. And since this is a desert island we’re stranded on, I want the best chance of surviving I can get and words don’t make a very good shelter. :)
