When was the colonial period?

If you mean the English colonial period in what is now the United States, these are the original permanent settlement dates:
Virginia 1607
Massachusetts 1620
New Hampshire 1623
New York 1624 (first by Dutch)
Connecticut 1633
Maryland 1634
Rhode Island 1636
Delaware 1638 (first by Dutch & Swedes)
Pennsylvania 1643 (first by Swedes)
North Carolina 1653
New Jersey 1660
South Carolina 1670
Georgia 1733

Of couse the Spanish and French had their own colonial periods. For instance the Spanish settled what is now the American Southwest, Texas and Florida in the 16th century. So their colonial period begins earlier. The French settled what today is Quebec, the Ohio Valley and the Mississippi River area independent of the English settlements on the Atlantic coast.
The colonial period for the 13 original English colonies ended in 1781 with the British defeat in the Revolutionary War. The French colonial period ended for Louisiana and the lands of the Louisiana Purchase in 1804 when France sold its
American territories to the new United States. I hope that this has been a help to you.

What is the history of Kerala before colonial period ?

The word Kerala is first recorded (as Keralaputra) in a 3rd-century BCE rock inscription (Rock Edict 2) left by the Maurya emperor Ashoka. It was one of the four independent nations in southern India during his reign and was ruled by the Cheras.A Second Chera Kingdom (c. 800–1102), also known as Kulasekhara dynasty of Mahodayapuram, was established by Kulasekhara Varman, which at its zenith ruled over a territory comprising the whole of modern Kerala and a smaller part of modern Tamil Nadu. During Kulasekhara's rule, Kerala witnessed a flourishing period of art, literatute, trade and the Bhakti movement of Hinduism. A Keralite identity, distinct from Tamil, became linguistically separate during this period. For the local administration, the empire was divided into provinces under the rule of Nair chieftains known as Naduvazhis.Venad was a kingdom in the southwest tip of Kerala, which acted as a buffer between Cheras and Pandyas. It became the southernmost principality under the rule of the second Chera kingdom. The Zamorins of Calicut were originally the rulers of Eralnadu region of the Second Chera Kingdom and were known as the Eradis. They later assumed the title of Samudrathiri ("one who has the sea for his border") and continued to rule from Calicut. It was under their rule, that Vasco Da Gama, the Portuguese explorer, landed in Calicut in 1498, marking the start of colonialism.I have presented the facts in as concise a form as I could. My sources were, as usual, Wikipedia and Google (company). Please do point out any inaccuracies in the comments.

What were some historical events that happened during the 19th century?

The Pork and Beans War—which was also known as the Aroostook War. It was a border dispute between the United States and the United Kingdom over the border between the British colonial province of New Brunswick and the American state of Maine. The incidents which comprise the “war” took place in 1838–39. It was the last international incident between the United States and the United Kingdom. It was settled by negotiation at Washington in 1842. The British, in their typical arrogant fashion, had pushed a railroad right of way through territory claimed by the state of Maine. The militia was called out, and lot of marching and counter-marching was done. Two British soldiers were wounded, and no one was killed (some men died of non-combat related causes). An official of the state of Maine was arrested as he attempted to conduct a census. The governor of Maine then declared that the state had been invaded by a foreign power, and called out the militia, which he arguably (a pretty feeble argument) had the constitutional right to do. In a disputed township, the boys from Maine began seizing the property of New Brunswick lumber companies, and arresting lumber jacks. Enraged New Brunswick loggers then attacked the American camp in the night, and arrested everyone they could round up. The responsible British officer then sent the commander of forces in New Brunswick to the American camp to warn the Maine militia off. They refused to leave, and arrested the British officer. Elevated silliness then took place, and most of these men were living off canned pork and beans, leading to the local name for the war. In the end, the boundary was settled in favor of Maine, while the British were granted railroad rights of way (still in use today). The major impact on the United States was to secure all armories and place them under Federal control, and to prohibit calling out the militia without consulting the government first. That last measure has been largely ignored, but never challenged in court. There was a good deal of other silliness which I have not mentioned, but that should do for now.

What are the most important historical events in the world?

Ryan Enoch hit many of the important ones. But I'd also like to add a few more;Operation Unthinkable Denial- After World War II, the allies did not trust the USSR. So much so that Churchill came up with a plan for the allies to use their combined forces, the revived German war machine and nuclear weapons to liberate the Baltic states and attack Russia. This plan was denied and put down however. This is important because the decision not to go through with this plan prevented millions of deaths added to the immense WWII casualties. USSR would also have won this hypothetical war as well, being as they were fully mobilized and armed to the teeth with millions of soldiers by the end of WWII.Cuban Middle Crisis- An important date to be sure, because excluding one other time, the world has never been closer to nuclear war. This is important because had cooler heads not prevailed,we would be in the middle of rebuilding society today.Random Time 10,000 Years Ago- The human population was forced down to a number as small as a few thousand. This is debately the most important as humans were basically almost extinct at that point.Just a few off the top of my head, just my opinions. Thanks for reading.

If I wanted to write a historical fiction book, what are some good events for me to base it off of?

Research history. Find something you’re interested in. Don’t make a book simply because you want to have your name on something. Get immersed within history. Learn more about the most interesting events than sane people would ever consider doing. Finally, when you feel like you could explain the event extremely well- as in talk about it for hours on end without exhausting yourself, then you’re ready. Do research. Look into primary or secondary sources. Find what others have done.Get inspired. At that point, you have the setting for your fiction. Now you need the narrative. Play with ideas until it’s fully fleshed out. Before then, don’t commit a single word to paper. Once you have the plot, fully developed characters, a setting, a convincing hook, rising action, falling action, climax, etc. Then you are finally ready to write the book. Here’s a list to get you started.Mt. Vesuvius eruption. Roman conquest of the Mediterranean. Manchuria during WWII. Africa when Europeans began to colonize. Beginning of the Australian penal colony. James Cook coming to Hawaii. Aztecs as Hernan Cortes arrives (they think he’s their god Quetzalcoatl.) The Hundred Years war. German civilians during WWII. Serbian citizens during Nazi occupation of Serbia. England during the Black Plague. England during War of the Roses. It’s a small list, but I’m sure it can inspire you.

What was the time period of Medieval Indian history?

There is no precise date when Medeival Period starts or ends either in World history or Indian History. Different Historians have different views. However the likes of D.N.Jha, Romilla Thapar and Majumdar put the Medieval era to somewhere between 7th and 12th Century A.D.A logical question may be posed here. Why do we begin Medeival narrative from 7th century A.D onwards? The answer would be that by the 7th century A.D, the whole civilized world seemed to undergo a great metamorphosis. By the beginning of 7th century A.D, Western Roman Empire had lost its separate existence. In the early 7th century A.D, east Europe and Asia Minor saw the rise of sovereign Byzantine (East Roman) Empire. By 630 A.D, Prophet Mohammed had galvanized the sandy deserts of Arabian Peninsula into an epicenter of power Politics. Nearer home, the Persian civilization under the valorous Sassanids saw itself in shambles by 642 A.D due to the Arab invasion. The Indian civilization too underwent a great transformation in the 7th century. This epoch is one of the most interesting and most ignored phase of Indian History. It is a period when the Indian civilization in north underwent the most rapid changes and evolved a way of living that continued to survive in one form or other till the dawn of modern era. What is the difference between India of 7th century A.D and the India of, say, the 10th century A.D? Within the span of three centuries, we see the eclipse of the erstwhile dominant Buddhism in India by a revived Hinduism. We see the rise of free standing temples throughout India and consequent rise of rural economy centered around those temples. We see that the conception of Aryavarta in minds of contemporary Indian scholars started changing. India was no more called as the Aryavarta of ancient times. Scholars now talked of Madhyadesha as being the ‘India proper’. Some scholars might argue that the period saw the rise of feudalism in north India and also a decline in long distance trade and urbanization.
