Which Of The Following Statements Regarding Ribosomes Is False

Which of the following statements is FALSE about ribosomes?

A. functional ribosomes have a large and small subunits

B. ribosomes are found in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes

C. ribosomes are the sites where protein synthesis happens

D. ribosomes are made of rRNA surrounded by a membrane

Which one of the following statements about ribosomes is false?

c
"Ribosomes in the cytoplasm of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells slightly differ. Prokaryotic ribosomes are smaller and less dense and each contain only three strands of RNA and about fifty proteins. Eukaryotic ribosomes consist of four strands of RNA and contain seventy to eighty proteins. The ribosomes in mitochondria and chloroplasts resemble prokaryotic ribosomes."

Which of the following statements regarding ribosomes is false?

The last one; cholesterols are made using the mevalonate pathway, and while I'm not sure exactly how phospholipids are synthesised in the body, it's certainly not by the ribosomes.

Edit: I was curious so I got my old textbooks from the shelf to look it up. There are two separate pathways to create the two types of phospholipids (glycerophospholipids and sphingolipids). Both require proteins embedded in the endoplasmatic reticulum (the one for GPLs is also found on the outer mitochondrial membrane).

Which of the following statements about ribosomes is false?

4. c. 4 amino acids
5. d. easy viral transmission from person to person '
6. a. in the cytoplasm
7. It becomes one of the recipient cell’s plasmids ( since option is not there )
8. c. recognizing the appropriate anticodons in mRNA
9. b. genes for enzymes that confer resistance to antibiotics
10. The doe did not eat ( since option is not there ,so not sure)

D. Swahili cities lost their independence after the arrival of Vasco da Gama.

Which of the following statements about bacterial cell walls is false?

a. Bacterial cell walls differ in molecular compostion from plant cell walls
b. Cell walls prevent cells from bursting in hypotonic environments
c. Cell walls prevent cells from dying in hpertonic conditions
d. Bacterial cell walls are similar in function to the cell walls of many protists, fungi, and plants
e. Cell walls provide the cell with a degree of physical protection from the environment

Which of the following statements about living systems is false?

Which of the following statements about living systems is false?

Living systems are composed of two or more cells.
Living systems maintain a relatively consistent internal environment.
Living systems respond to changes in the environment.
Living systems encode their genetic information in DNA.
Living systems grow and develop.

Which of the following statements is FALSE about plasma membrane?

A- The plasma membrane controls what substances go in and out of the cell

B- The plasma membrane is composed of two layers of phospholipids arranged in such a way that their hydrophobic parts face outward

C- Proteins, cholesterol, and glycoproteins are also part of the plasma membrane

D- Active transport uses energy to move molecules against their concentration gradient

Which of the following statements about nucleotide structure is false?

The first statement is false.

The phosphate group is NOT bonded to the nitrogenous base.

The structure is a five-membered sugar ring (can be ribose or deoxyribose) that is attached to a phosphate and a nitrogenous base which are NOT bonded to one another. The base is attached to at the C-1 position and the phosphate is bound to the C-5 position.

Which of the following statements about membrane structure and functions is FALSE?

A. Diffusion of gases is faster in air than across membranes

B. Diffusion, osmosis, and facilitated diffusion do not require any direct energy input from the cell

C. The types of proteins that are exposed on one side of a membrane are nearly identical to those exposed on the other side of the membrane

D. Voltage across the membrane depends on an unequal distribution of ions across the plasma membrane

E. Special membrane proteins can cotransport two solutes by coupling diffusion down a concentration gradient to transport against the concentration gradient
