Which Pet Carrier Is The Best Out Of These

Cat Carrier... Which one?

Sorry - but both of those are useless. Soft carriers like that have zippers that are easily opened by a cat nudging it's head against it. The zippers are often cheaply made and come off track and break easily. And, and as you can see in the pic of that second carrier, tend to collapse down a bit once you sit them down. I've tried soft carriers similar to the ones in your links for both my cats and ferrets and same result with all of them - a pet breaking loose in the car or a cat very pissed that the carrier's roof is coming down on him! They're also quite hard to clean. Most of them can't be thrown into the wash so if a cat was to pee or vomit in the carrier good lucking getting the smell out!

Go with a hard plastic carrier with a secure, latching gate on the front. For comfort you can easily fit in a small blanket or crate pad. The plastic carriers also can easily be fitted with small bowls that snap on the inside of the gate so if you're traveling via car or air the cat has food and water. They also come apart so you can easily store them in a closet when you're not using them or on a shelf in your garage. And unlike the soft carriers, you can remove and wash any bedding you put inside them and then simply wipe down the crate with cleaner and paper towels. Another plus to getting one of this type carrier is they're airline approved. So should ever want to move or travel with your cat via air you'll already have the carrier you need.

You can find the hard plastic carriers online at stores like http://www.drsfostersmith.com or at most local pet stores. I actually picked two up for my cats that I found at WalMart - around $25 each and quite nice.

How do I get a cat into a pet carrier more easily?

The other answers are good: lowering the cat, rear end first, into the door-facing-up carrier will get the cat into the carrier.I have additional suggestions:Get a carrier with a top opening as well as a front opening. This makes for a much easier entry and exit. When you arrive at the vet or wherever, often the cat will be afraid and very unwilling to get out of the carrier, and it’s much easier (with less chance of scratching/biting) if you’re reaching down into the top-opening carrier rather than reaching from the front opening. So maybe not for this time, but next time you’re buying a carrier, look for a top-opening carrier. If your cat has a history of biting or scratching, you could also wear gardening gloves and long sleeves for cat extraction.I would also suggest leaving the carrier open and empty around the cat for a day in advance. This way the cat will sniff and maybe go in and out of the carrier, and generally become accustomed to its scent. The cat will also rub against the carrier, and put her/his scent onto it. This will make the cat less terrified of the whole process. Cats are very much about territory, and this way the carrier becomes part of their territory. It also helps to line the carrier with a cloth or bed on which the cat has slept - again because the cat’s own scent helps them feel more secure.Good luck!

What is the best soft dog carrier for travel?

It depends on the size of your dog and what you'll be using it for.If you are going to bring your pet on a plane you have to be sure to check you're airline's guidelines as they will often specify a weight limits and measurements. Two that I personally like are the sturdibag and Sherpa carriers. They are a bit over airline requirements, but well, so is my dog.The large pictured above holds dogs up to 18 pounds comfortably. The top is very flexible and can be squished to fit under an airplane seat. It comes with a comfy pad and weighs just under 3 pounds. If you are traveling by car, it has straps that can be secured into the backseat of a car with a seatbelt. The large Sherpa is a little longer and weighs in at 4.6 pounds. I like how it has a door on top as it is kind of hard to get my dog to back into the sturdibag.I don't know about any options for dogs over 25 pounds but I know there must be many. I hope this helped :)

Are legs out / in pet carriers comfortable for dogs?

I used one of those carriers for my bigger dog when he was a puppy just because he was so big it was the easiest. We carried him around in the one that looks like a baby carrier, after awhile it did start to bother him because it is an uncomfortable way for them to be sitting. They are not meant to be sitting on their butts. So we ended up having to get a bigger bag type for him anyways.

Use a bag carrier they are better suited for the puppies my Jack russell goes in his all the time, when he goes to the movies with us and anywhere we go that is inside or "no dogs allowed" lol no one even notices he just lays and chills out.

*edit*
Dogs cant go in some places walking and there is no problem having a carrier for your dog sometimes, especially the very small ones who cant walk around all day long, or young ones who are not ready to be walking around all over the place. She didn't say she wanted to keep her dog in it forever, she is just asking which is best!!! chill out!

Is jetblue really strict on the size of the pet carrier?

My absolute best advise is to give the airline a call with your pet carrier measurements to check. Sounds like you are taking her in the cabin, as a dog size carrier could be checked below with no problem.

Airlines usually advise softsided sherpa carriers so they can scrunch down a bit, as they need to fit under the seat in front of you. If it is soft sided, a slight bit of extra height won't hurt.

Hope it works out!!!
Here are Jet Blue's guidelines off their website:

**********
Please check the information below on pet carriers to make sure your carrier
meets these guidelines:

through security, you will be asked to hold the pet and walk through while
the carrier is x-rayed.
Only one pet is allowed per carrier.
Your pet must be able to stand up and move around in the carrier with
ease.
Carriers must have a leak proof bottom and must be well ventilated on
at least two sides.
Approved soft-sided carriers specifically designed as pet carriers are
acceptable.

Designed exclusively for JetBlue, soft-sided Sherpa carriers that are

Carrier and travel cage for Rats?

I am getting 2 male rats, and I need carrier and travel cage ideas.

My last rat I used a large Kritter Keeper for car rides and over night stays at my grandparents, hotels etc. It was perfect! But now I hear those are not ventilated enough for Rats and I am having a hard time finding something to do the job.

So far it looks like I will need two different things. A small cat carrier of some sort, and a smaller cage for day trips. But I really wish I could find one thing to do both. I also thought about making one out of a big plastic bin and some mesh.

Any Suggestions?

What is the safest way to drive with a dog in the car?

The safest way to drive in a car with a dog is put him in the back seat with a seat belt. He is safer and so are you. He cannot wander around the car and be distracting and if you stop fast he cannot hit the seat in front of him or worse the dashboard and get hurt. Also if god forbid you were in a major car accident and were knocked unconscious he could not get out of the car in a hole from the crash and wander around on a busy road.

Will my cat be scared in a pillow case or should I buy a pet carrier?

Is there such a thing as a dog carrier that a large dog can wear to carry a small dog?

Yes. Plenty. I was actually living in Seoul, South Korea - and I was amazed at how popular it is to have doggie accessories.Dog bags.Dog pouches (Ivanka Trump).Dog jackets (branded, ex. The North Face).Dog prams (yes, you heard me right).Special flea protectors.Dog shoes & glasses.Interactive food bowls.Dog hair bands.Dog toothpaste.Dog tiaras. This would make a real interesting documentary … the humanisation of dogs.
