Which Sect Of Islam Should I Be And Why

Which sect is correct in Islam?

Wa/Salaam.

If it was just a political issue as it started out.. there'd be no difference. We'd all be Muslims. But the difference is religious. Some Shias are Muslims and within the fold of Islam.. others are Kaffirs that even some Shias speak against.

Bottom line, not all Shias are alike.
For example:

1) You are one Shia who respects the Sahaba. That is great. On the other hand, there's some Shias who disrespect the Sahaba, and we Sunnis find that very offensive. They are actually disrespecting the prophet (saw) and his choice of friends in turn. The Qur'an actually says that you have no faith if you go against the decisions of prophet Muhammad (saw). Those Shias should stop such behavior.

2) There's some Shias who call on dead people. This is wrong according the Qur'an, and God specifically forbids that. Not all Shias do this, I know many who have never done such a thing and would not even consider it. They call only on Allah (swt). But many other Shias do however do call on their imams, and it is shirk (the worst sin). Those Shias should stop this.

The list goes on..

If you would study the Qur'an, you'd see that Sunnis are the only "sect" (even though Sunnis are orthodox Muslims) following it correctly. All other sects have deviated beliefs, practices. Labels are necessary to differentiate between that.

So yeah, the one that follows the Qur'an and Sunnah are correct and following Islam as it should be followed. Mostly, that is Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jammah.

May Allah (swt) guide us all.

How many sects of Islam is there?

I know of Sunni and Shia...I'm sure there are a lot more.

1. What's the main difference between these two?

2. What is hadiths? Caliphs?

3. Which do the extremists (like al quaeda) belong to?

4. Which would you consider to be extreme sects?

5. Which sects to you NOT agree with and why?

I'm a Christian, and I'm REALLY curious!

So, thanks in advance for your help.

peace ;)

Have you heard of the Zaidi sect of Islam ?

The Zaidi sect is the largest growing sect in Islam and is the largest in Yemen.

What is the Zaidi sect ? Many call it the "New Islam." For unlike the Sunni and Shiite which preach hate and violence, the Zaidi sect preaches love.

For we are all people of the book and children of the gods.

Which Islamic sect is correct?

Islam is the most veridical and the perfectest sect of IslamBut it's believers are very rare. I mean very very rare. Not found in most of the so called Islamic countries. They believe in the basics of Islam. They:Believe in the Oneness of AllahBelieve Muhammad(P.B.U.H) as the last Prophet of IslamBelieve and Act on the sayings of Quran and Hadith.End!… These are the only things they believe. Now they are different from other sects because they dont believe in dividing in sects. They know that Allah has prohibited People from dividing in sects and those who disobey Allah by dividing into sects aren't Muslims. Allah says:[6:159] Those who divide themselves into sects do not belong with you. Their judgment rests with GOD, then He will inform them of everything they had done.So why dividing into sects?A Non-Muslim once visited Pakistan (A state founded just for Islam) and after leaving, he stated a sentence which really is a point to be pondered. His words left a big Question for all the so called Muslims.I saw no Mosque for Muslims in Pakistan. Wherever I went, there were Mosques of Sunnis or Shias or Wahabis or Deobandis etc. This needs to be ended. All the hate in one sect for the other sect of Islam has to be turned into love. And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.Falling in sects=Disobeying Allah=distancing from IslamThen why do we call ourselves Muslim?MDA

How many sects in Islam? Why is there a disagreement on the number?

Greetings,I haven’t heard of anyone disagreeing about “the number” before. To my knowledge, the general consensus is 73 sects*. If a person disputes this, s/he may be unfamiliar with the hadith or may disputes the authenticity which that person can do their own research or ask an imam. As the Qur’an and hadith of Rasool Allah (SAS) is the most basic element of belief in Islam, the disagreement or refusing to accept hadith can result in kufr. The best examples are in the Qur’an to resolve any misunderstanding:Al-Anana’am/The Cattle 6:153 - “And, (moreover), this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow (other) ways, for you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous.”Al-’Amraan 3:103 - “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by his favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.”*“The Prophet (SAS) said: “My Ummah will face what Bani Israel faced step by step, even if one of them approached his mother publicly (sexually) there will be one of my Ummah will approach his mother. The people of Israel divide into divided into 72 sects, my Ummah will divide into 73 sects, all of them are in the hellfire, and one of them is in paradise.” We asked “which one is saved?” the Prophet (SAS) said: “the one that is Me and my companions.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

Sects of Islam and going to Heaven?

There are in total 73 sects in Islam, the largest two being Sunni and Shiite.

A few months ago, some one had told me that one these sects is correct, and that will be the group who will go to heaven based on their deeds..etc/ while the others will not.

Is this true?
