Who Are Your Preseason Predictions For Offensive Roy And Defensive Roy

Who will be rookie offensive/defensive player next season?

My prediction for offensive rookie of the year is Deshaun Watson, as he has all the pieces are around him to be great: a good running back, Lamar Miller, a good wide receiver, Deandre Hopkins, a good tight end, C.J. Fiedorowicz, and a good offensive line. For defensive rookie of the year, Reuben Foster will win if he stays healthy. He was clearly the best linebacker in the draft, but he fell because of his shoulder’s health. The 49ers have no quality interior linebackers, so he will play a lot, and he will have a fantastic shot at winning the award.

MLB early MVP, CYA, MOY, ROY predictions anyone?

AL ROY: very weak year for rookies in the American League
TEX Nick Tepesch: 3-3, 3.44 ERA, 1.27 WHIP (better ERA and WHIP than Grimm)
BOS Jose Iglesias: 1 HR, 5 RBI, .434 BA (needs more playing time)

NL ROY:
MIL Jim Henderson: 2-1, 9 saves, 0.92 ERA, 0.81 WHIP
STL Shelby Miller: 6-3, 1.82 ERA, 0.98 WHIP
LAD Hyun-Jin Ryu: 6-2, 2.89 ERA, 1.13 WHIP
also Evan Gattis, Jedd Gyorko, and Didi Gregorius

AL MOY: will probably depend on who makes the post season.
Terry Francona, John Farrell, or Ron Washington

NL MOY: again, whoever makes the playoffs.
Mike Matheny, Kirk Gibson, Clint Hurdle, or Walt Weiss

AL CYA: (Hernandez's teammate Iwakuma has better numbers than Felix)
BOS Clay Buchholz: 8-0, 1.62 ERA, 1.02 WHIP

NL CYA (the Mets won't pitch Harvey enough plus the Marlins roughed him up yesterday)
ARZ Patrick Corbin: 9-0, 2.06 ERA, 1.05 WHIP

AL MVP (close call)
DET Miguel Cabrerra: 17 HR, 65 RBI, .367/.442/.668
BAL Chris Davis: 20 HR, 52 RBI, .357/.440/.754

How many sacks would be considered a lot in 1 NFL season?

The most times being sacked last year was 50, by Rodgers and Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger has been hovering between 45 and 50 for the past few years. I would say 45 or 50 is a lot. There have been 93 times where a QB was sacked at least 45 times in a season, and 42 in which they were sacked 50 times.

Favre's sacks per year is 26.2. In comparison, Elway had 32.25, Phil Simms had 31.8, Drew Bledsoe had 33.4, and Neil Lomax had 45.25 over an 8-year career. So I would say Favre gets sacked an average amount of times, but because he plays every game it looks worse than it is.

By the way, sacks were recorded for QB's since 1963, but not for defensive players until 1982.

Who is the best defensive player in the NFL today?

From both a qualitative and quantitative point-of-view, Los Angeles Rams Defensive Tackle Aaron Donald is the best defensive player in the NFL right now. while it’s very ambiguous to know who is the “best” defensive player due to the different positions on defense AND it depends on what NFL defensive schemes asks for a player, but there are various ways we can consider #99 the best:AD currently leads the NFL in sacks with 14.5 which is 3 more than 2nd place.AD is a DEFENSIVE TACKLE yet leads the league in sacks at a RAPID pace to possibly break the single season sack record. Traditionally, Defensive Tackles are more blocked by the offensive lineman so they have more “stuff” to go through to get the sack.AD is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, so of courseHe was Defensive Rookie of the Year instead of Khalil Mack.He changes the way NFL offenses game plan. #99 is a generational player.I will say that he is the CURRENT best defensive player of the year. He is firmly in a tier of future surefire Hall of Fame Defensive Players currently playing: AD, J.J Watt, Von Miller, Khalil Mack

Did Baker Mayfield deserve to be NFL Rookie of the Year? How do you think he will perform in the coming seasons?

As much as I love Baker Mayfield (Really, his confidence and ability is everything that Johnny Manziel was supposed to be), I believe that there is a better choice for Rookie of the Year.Baker Mayfield turned the 0–16 Browns around into a borderline playoff team. Despite being held back by Hue Jackson for the first part of the year, he was surrounded by young, quality offensive talent. He had studs on the offensive line in Joel Bitonio and Kevin Zeitler, an incredible 2 headed running back combination in Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson (They even had Carlos Hyde for the first part of the year), standout wide receivers in Jarvis Landry, Josh Gordon (for a bit), and Antonio Callaway. David Njoku at Tight End was just Icing on the cake. By no means am I discounting Baker Mayfield’s skill, he is my favorite rookie quarterback (and I’m a UCLA homer so I love Rosen). However, it can not be overstated that with a quality, young offense and a coaching change, the Browns are a talented roster. Baker Mayfield threw for 3725 yards, with 27 touchdowns to 14 picks. Very good stats, but not in the upper echelon of NFL QBs (yet). Baker Mayfield will be the face of the AFC North for a long time, but this year even his impressive performance was outshined by one other rookie. The New York Giants, on the other hand, are a dumpster fire. (No offense to Giants fans, I’m a Raiders fan so I know all about dumpster fires). Lead by the aging Eli Manning, with the worst O-line in the league, and a general sense of dysfunction, Saquan Barkley was one of the lone bright spots. He was the Giants primary form of offense, since Eli had severe difficulty throwing the ball downfield. The Quadfather had to deal with a patchwork offensive line, often times getting hit before the line of scrimmage. Saquan ran for 1307 yards and 11 touchdowns with a 5.0 average YPC. Those numbers are already incredible, but add on the 721 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns, and Saquan Berkeley was the Giant’s best rushers and receivers. The numbers alone dont tell the whole tale. Many of his runs that went for minimal gains came from shaking multiple tackles. He looked like a top NFL running back from the second he took the field.Although Baker Mayfield had an incredible rookie campaign, he was still a rookie and made many rookie mistakes. Saquan Barkley immediately looked every bit the NFL back, and as such, I believe that he should win the NFL Rookie of the Year award.
