Who Invented Birthdays Celebrations

Is celebrating birthdays haram?

@ proud christian: thank you for your answer but i'm also a proud muslim, islam is the most amazing religion in my opinion and if it says birthdays are haram then i would follow that.. but there's nothing in the Quran to give such statement.. that's why i was wondering..

but i understand them, we muslims are willing to give it all (even our lives) for the sake of Allha, that's what makes us so special.

Do you like celebrating birthdays?

Yes.. I doI feel special on my Happy Birthday. I get to talk with my well wishers who seldom call for other reasons I get to buy things that I want for myself but otherwise wouldn't buy I get to eat all that I love without restrictionsI don't mind adding a candle to my birthday cake every year. I know, even if I don't add them, I am still going to get old. So why not smile away and enjoy a day that's created to celebrate...Yes.. I love my Happy Birthdays.... :)

Are there any religions that don't celebrate birthdays? If so, which ones don't?

Jehovah’s Witnesses do not celebrate birthdays nor any holidays. The first century Christians would not celebrate birthdays because they were pagan traditions like all the holidays people celebrate. Early Christians even died before they would celebrate such a pagan festival. Today the holidays are just an excuse to party. People pretend they are a way to honor Jesus but they are just pagan festivals that were celebrated to other Gods. You can research them and find the truth about these holidays.

Do atheists celebrate their birthday ?

if you start like this there is no end
atheists are not believing the concept of god without scientific proof- it does not mean whether they will celebrate birthday based on the death of Jesus- next you will say whether they will use the capital letter J which comes in the name of Jesus- whether they will work on Christmas day or enjoy the holiday- whether they will work under people who believe Jesus- and so on
Similarly those who are believing Jesus do they all live according to the testaments to the letter
if that was the case- western countries following Christianity as a national religion including USA- UK etc were responsible for the inventions of Atom bombs- rifles- guns - ICBMs- missiles etc to destroy man kind in millions- were they following Jesus preaching- WHEN SOME ONE SLAPS YOU ON ONE CHEEK- SHOW THE OTHER

Is it haram to celebrate birthdays?

No it is not Haram. To consider something a sin there must be a clear reference in the Quran and the Sunnah. There is no reference at all in them to celebrating birthdays. Even the Prophet, peace be upon him, when he explained about why he liked to fast on Mondays, he said "It is a day in which I was born." So if he fasted Mondays as a form of gratefulness to Allah for his birth on that day, what is wrong with you giving a party to your brother?

I am Arab and in my culture birthday celebrations did not exist, and actually I never celebrated my own birthday. However, celebrating birthday is a cultural habit, it doesn't have anything to do with religion. Those who say that you are imitating Christians when you celebrate birthdays, are wrong. For many christians there is no religious aspect in the celebration.

Also it is not right to prohibit it on the basis that the Prophet never celebrated his birthday. This argument is faulty. First for what I mentioned above, and then because the Prophet did not prohibit EVERYTHING he didn't do. He mentioned that there will be new practices after him, and that one should only follow his way. "following the ways of the Prophet" does not mean avoiding everything he didn't do. It actually means that one can do the things that are in line with the spirit of Islam, as practiced in the Quran and the Sunnah. If there is a new practice that is not against the spirit of Islam, then it is not prohibited. Otherwise, we should remember that the Prophet used to pray on the floor not on the rug, did not remove his shoes for the prayer, his mosque did not have a roof, he did not use the prayer timetables that we are using. He did not use cars or airplanes, etc etc. It would be ridiculous to say that we should avoid all of that because the Prophet didn't do that!!!

salaam-peace.

Ramadan: Is celebrating birthdays haram???????

Lets look at Quran and Hadiths to analyse why is Celebrating Birthdays Haram:

...oh wait, there isn't any evidence from Quran or Hadith for it to be Haram.

Anyway, lets look at it morally, why is it bad, religious (Islamic) point of view:

...hmm, hold on, it is not a Religious event, it is simply a cultural occasion where we give presents and making the bday guy happy, etc... all in a non-sinful way.

But here's the thing, the Kuffar celebrate it, lets make it Haram shall we?

...I don't think so, because again, it is not a Religious event...Should we also make Wedding as Haram just because Kuffar do so as well?

Conclusion: Celebrating birthdays has nothing to do with religion. (not Haram)

Ramadan; why is it haram to celebrate birthdays?

its not harram, its what u do that can be harram....like if ur gonna go and drink beer on ur b-day...than HARRAM.......if ur gonna get together with ur family and have a good time...not harram
