How often should i feed my new baby leopard geckos? dusting?
Ok when I got my first leopard gecko he was around that same size too, and now he is 9 inches and very healthy. This is how I feed him: Every day I would dust the meal worms and or crickets with calcium powder, except one day, that day I would dust them with Multivitamin powder. PS ; Vitamin D3 is not bad they need it but if you give them to much of it it could be bad, so one day i would dust them with calcium with vd3 the next with just calcium and so on, also make sure the calcium is phosphorous free. The brands I use are REP-CAL. also as your gecko gets older make sure to gradually decrease his/her calcium and vitamins intake, until like calcium 2-3 times a week and vitamins 1-2 times a month. Feeding time: What I did was give my gecko about 5-7 meal worms daily, I prefer the white meal worms which are the one that molted recently because they have less chitin, which could be bad; or 3 meal worms and 3 crickets, or 4-6 crickets, as the gecko gets older make sure you feed it bigger prey, and when it is full grown feed it the same amount of crickets and/or meal worms but bigger and every-other-day. I advise you don't just put all the food in at one time, I advise you feed him or her one insect at a time, I'm telling you this from experience so trust me. After a while if your gecko is getting to chubby feed it less, or more if it is skinny, but remember they got to have a chubby tail. Yes you should also dust the meal worms, most of the dust falls out of them but i noticed the white one get more dust stuck to them. Remember that you should gut-load the insects, I gut-load my crickets with crickets feed, fish food, some fruits and or vegetables and sometimes different cricket gut-load recipes that you can find all over the Internet, the meal worms are gut-loaded by letting them live in wheat and oat bran and putting lettuce leaves in there. Also the answer below say they should be feed twice a day that might be right but not always true, how i told you to feed it you could divide it and feed half of it in the morning and the other half at night, but you just have to feed it enough to keep their tail chubby but not obese.
