What is the difference between Yahoo Mail Basic and Yahoo Mail Full-Featured? What can I do / not do ?
Like you, I use email accounts solely for sending/receiving emails, so I won't report on any of the frills that Full-Featured may or may not have. The main difference that I've noticed between Basic and Full-featured is that Full-Featured has more ad-space. Basic has one advertisement on the right side of the page whereas Full-Featured has three - one on the right (just like Basic), a squarish one on the left, and a sneaky non-picture one at the very bottom that appears to be an email when you scroll far enough down the page.
Why am I being shamed for "still" having a Yahoo email address, when a network of thousands of people over 20 years has that address? What sense is there to losing all those business & personal contacts, to prove I'm modern or hip? It sounds absurd.

Furthermore, if they don’t recognize your address because they know you, they may automatically assume it’s spam.Also, some people don’t really like sending to yahoo accounts, because once they send to you through their email, they know their email is not only someplace in Yahoo’s cyberspace, but more specifically on your computer. And many people consider that if someone is still using a Yahoo account, that they may not be very security conscious or educated, so they may feel their email runs a risk being on your computer if you were to get hacked.Yahoo is just thought of by some computer saavy people as the creepy old man that hangs out at the schoolyard. Delay in receiving yahoo mail?
The only answer I can give you "sst" is to try the BASIC version which is quite fast. Once you've gotten in it, though, you'd better place it in your «favorites». This way you can select either the full featured version or the Basic if the former won't send you the mails right away. If you do not know the procedure to enter BASIC, do this then : >go to gear top right→ select settings→select Viewing email→go down to the right and place the dot in the small box next to the word BASIC→go all the way down to the left and click SAVE. That's all. Now......I suggest you also place the regular version in the «favorites». Why? Because this way you can call for both versions and have them at the very top and switch from one to the other as you wish. This is what I do every time I go into Yahoo mail. Good luck!
