Why did my 6 months old kitten died suddenly ?

My 6 months old kitty "Beauty" died on 12th april,2013,I was just devastated and too depressed by her sudden demise. She was in good health and was quite normal but the morning of 12th april was just shocking for me.I was sleeping and it was near about 6 am in the morning when I heard as if someone is groaning in pain.I got up to see wats the matter. When I reached my backyard I saw it was my kitty. She was leaning against a wall with its head down, eyes & mouth open and groaning.Since it was early morningno vet was available at that time.I felt too helpless and couldnt understand what happened to her.I made her lie down and tried to comfort her but all in vain. Her breath was getting slower and slower.I felt her heartbeat going down and down. She was in my arms till she breathed her last. Then I found her vomiting nearby,it was a dry vomit with grass and hairs in it.The color was somewhat light brownish.I was just too confused as to what happened to her in a night. She was my first ever pet and I am just speechless to express that how much I cried for her after that. She was the most lovely cat and now I dont want any more pets cuz no one can take the place which she is having in my heart.I dont want her memories to fade away with time.I cant forget her as long as I live.My heart melts with sorrow whenever I think about her and I just say "Gone too soon baby".

My 5 month old kitten died after getting spayed, has this ever happened to anyone out there?

She was a wondeful black kitten I got at 9 weeks of age. i waited til she was 5 months old, set up a spaying thru the local animal shelter. She died after the surgery, never woke up. I got the money back, now they expect me to pay for a cremation?????? I find them to be heartless. i am still waiting for an explanation as to how she died. it's just disgusting and painful all the way around. Esp when your 8 yr old misses her.

My 11 month old longhair kitten has a small lump on her stomach. Could this be a tumour or cancer? I’m asking this to get some closure before I go to the vet tomorrow. Should I be worried?

Well sweetie, first, calm down and just love on Kitty :)Dogs-and cats-only a little less often-get these “fat nodules”. I call them that, I’m sure there’s some “technical’ name for them.ANYWAY, they are completely benign. My little doggy has about 5-maybe six, of them. Diagnosed-nothing. Animals get these. We love our pets. I have LOVED so many animals my friend-and lost them also. They are little animals, they just don’t live as long as we do. I don’t know why, other than God made it that way.I know I don’t have to tell you to take care of Kitty, I see (happily) that you do.As I say, just let her sleep next to you tonight, love her-and you two calm down. I’m sure tomorrow will have no bad news.Good luck, friend-to you AND Kitty :)(don’t worry)

8 week old kitten died from bath?

My mom got a baby kitten from a a house that was giving away cats. When she brought him home he was fine and all so my mom said let's give that cats a bath we have 5. So i was giving one of the cats a bath and she was giving the new kitten a bath i was about done with the oldest one and my mom screened saying he bit her and she kept giving him a bath he was meowing then i say 30 seconds later my mom say's "Oh my god!" i said what's wrong she didn't answer me then she starts crying saying "he's dead" I said what hurried over and he was just laying there and died like that. While my mom was breaking down i asked her what happened she said she gave him a bath like she would do the others and she kept crying and blaming her self. So while she was doing that i started to think how did he die i look at the cat shampoo it says do not give to cats under 12 weeks old i told my mom and we both was so confused. Two of the cats that we got at 8 week's - 9 week's old we used the same cat shampoo and there is nothing wrong with them. Then i told my mom remember when you brought him home i told you he was breaking like he had a clogged nose she said oh yeah do you think that had something to do with it then she told me the lady she got the cat from said "If you have any problems with him at all bring him back" so my mom is thinking to her self why would she say that.

What could of killed him so fast...? help please.

I have a one month old kitten and her mother very recently died. What do I do? Do I treat it like I would a cat with its mother?

Edited to add: on reading other comments I want to add some cautions. When kittens are very young they don’t urinate or defecate on their own. Momma licks their butt and that gets things moving. Some have given you advice that you must do this with a washcloth.Four weeks is right on the cusp of being able to eat, pee and poop on their own. It’s the earliest this happens. So if your kitten is able to eat and poops and pees after each feeding you may not have to do this; if it is not going after each feed you do have to.And I have no idea why the part below decided to be in italics. i hit return after the above paragraph and boom, there they were!Actually, if she’s at least 4 weeks you might be able to just start her on a high quality kitten food and not do bottles etc. You will need to monitor her carefully for at least the first week, and that means having a scale to make sure she is gaining weight daily and taking in enough food. But you’ll need that if you bottle feed her too. As long as she’ll eat and drink on her own, you can also put some KMR ina dish for the first few weeks.Ideally a kitten should nurse for at least 8 weeks, and stay with mom for up to 12. But my daughter volunteered with a cat and kitten rescue for some years, and she fostered many many kittens until they were adopted. Rescues are dealing with far less than ideal conditions. The particular rescue she was with is called a TNR, for ‘trap, neuter, release’. They trap feral cats and kittens. Those that are older and aggressive towards humans are neutered/spayed and released where they were found. They won’t be adoptable but at least they can’t make more.If young kittens are found, usually no more than 3 months old, they can be tamed by a human foster mom, such as my daughter, and adopted to a home. If their mother is trapped then the kittens are kept with her to nurse for 4 weeks. That’s the minimum amount they need before being able to eat soft food (canned or moistened kibble), and if they are kept with the wild mother any longer she can imprint her fear of humans on them and their chances of a home goes way down.I know for a fact that this is the case, and that she fostered kittens in my home from that age- in fact, one of those, a tiny runt who looked much younger, is now my beloved 7 year old Rosalind! It’s not the ideal goal. But a deceased mother isn’t an ideal situation.
