Why Are Some Rich Kids Fail In College

For those of you who failed college?

You have obviously matured. I think this "academic vacation" was really a very positive thing to have happen to you, and you were smart not to go back for the next semester. Instead, you took time away, and have re-evaluated your priorities. It really does sound like you're now ready for the military, and that either during the military or after it, you'll be ready to tackle college.

Absolutely join the military, if you're interested. IMO, the branches that do the best by their enlisted members are the Air Force, the Navy, and the Coast Guard, so I'd perhaps suggest you check them out first. The Navy, which you mentioned, has a lot to offer in terms of career paths for enlisted folks. If you have a particular interest, be sure to mention it to the recruiter. I can't promise that you *will* be able to be placed into that field, but it can happen, if you express the interest up front.

The important thing is that you learn from what you did. You blew it. Don't dwell on it - it doesn't sound like you are, but I say this to reinforce that. Don't dwell. Instead, learn from it, and move forward.

True/False: Only rich kids should study the humanities in college?

It seems more and more than this day and age, the more lower class the college kid, the more "practical" the field of study. How many first generation students study engineering, IT, or nursing?

While upper class kids tend to study political science, history, English, art, even film.

Is this because a kid without an inheritance or connections has higher stakes to deal with as he goes out on his own?

Why do rich kids go to State colleges/universities?

All students are allowed to apply to the schools that offer them the best fit for their educational goals. The diversity represented by a state school means that the serious student knows she/he will be graded by achievement, rather than by family reputation or power.Ironically, state schools may also represent less pressure for some students; allowing the student to succeed or fail on his/her own rather than family name (which might generate attention in private schools) may feel like freedom.State schools often have strong departments that receive attention.State schools may be more convenient, or may be where more of their friends attend, or may be in an attractive location. The fact that rich students are able to pay their tuition without needing scholarship assistance helps the school with funding issues.

Are rich kids destined for success?

Stop it. Stop comparing yourself to them. You came here to learn a lot. First of all, I noticed a lot of typos in your narrative. You need to correct that right now. Start with improving some thing like your typing and then slowly move onto more and bigger things. That tells me that you don't think much of yourself because you didn't even correct your typos.Stop playing video games and start reading a book a week and absorb, study, memorize, ingest what you read.... Read Anthony Robbins and listen to his tapes. Go to the library and check them out and listen to them a lot. I mean often.... not just once and awhile. Do it all the time.Stop feeling sorry for yourself. No one cares. You picked this life this time so now you need to make the best of it. Practice what you learn in the Anthony Robbins tapes in your life. Stop complaining to your friends and family. They don't care. They have their own struggles to deal with. Join a positive support group that will uplift you and listen to others and how they uplifted themselves. Your attitude sucks. In fact, it is an awful attitude. Make a grateful list... you have food, shelter, some health, friends and some family. Make one everyday. You want to be rich. Well this is how you start.Tutor someone less fortunate than you with an expertise you have like math or science or English.... whatever. Get out of yourself.Of course those rich people are privileged. So what. You can be privileged too. You have to work for it and they didn't this time around. They worked for it in previous lives and came here expecting it this time. Now stop whining and get busy. YOU have your work cut out for you and no one cares but you.... keep your mouth shut about your accomplishments and what you are doing to progress yourself. It is nobodies business but your own. This is your little secret to success in life and your are not going to let anyone take it away from you.Correct those typos and don't do that ever again.
