Why Are Some Users Against Using The Anonymous Feature

So we are all anonymous without the anonymous feature being implemented no? So why go coward/anonymous at all?

Back when there were more people here, and my writing style wasn't as infamous, whatever the hell that means, I would sometimes post questions anonymously so that I would get at least an attempt at an intelligent reaction from Christians. if they saw my name, they would simply trash me instead of answering the question.

Also, certain people around here who shall remain nameless like to stalk people. And so certain other people who shall remain nameless are known to post anonymously to avoid them. I've considered it, but my stalkers are so thoroughly up in my business that they think I'm behind every anonymous question as it is.

Does Yahoo Answer's 'Anonymous' feature really work?

- you are 100% anonymous when you ask a question - if you have a distinct enough writing style/certain phrases that someone who knows you well can spot, they will know it's you but we can't click on your avatar and go to your activity page

- if you answer a question, your answers appears anonymous to all of us except those who know you well and we can't click on your avatar or the Anonymous username to go to your activity page

BUT...if the asker has their preferences set to receive notifications of new answers, your username appears in their Inbox and it's a clickable link that takes them straight to your activity page

so you are only anonymous to asker's who do not receive a notification that you have answered their Q

***the reason your username shows up is because you can't make an answer anonymous until AFTER you post it - even if you are very fast and immediately click on Make anonymous, it won't hide your identity from the asker if he gets that notice

- there is no way to make a comment anonymous and depending on the content, it's usually obvious the comment is by the asker and comments left in a post where you are not the asker but are another answerer may also be matched up but less likely as there are usually more than one answer and other comments to mix and match

sometimes those who comment have not also answered the Q so you can't be certain that person is the same anonymous who answered and there are sometimes more than one answerer who is anonymous

How do people find out who you are, if you post anonymously on here?

Usually it's because a lot of regular users have a particular style of writing and verbiage they use, which makes them distinctive. Also, as mentioned, when notifications are being emailed to alert a question asker that they have new answers to their question, the actual username of any users who replied to the question using the Anonymous feature, is revealed. Sometimes, people simply guess and get it right (who an Anon user is).
