Why Are There So Many Clouds In Stockholm Sweden

Which is better, Stockholm or Gothenburg?

In most aspects Stockholm is superior to Gothenburg, although this is not entirely surprising seeing as Stockholm is the largest city in not only Sweden but also Scandinavia. However, Gothenburg’s archipelago is in many ways preferable to that of Stockholm. It is a lot calmer, and is a hub of fishing and history. Therefore, if you are looking for a calm chain of islands to spend a summer holiday, just like a large amounts of Swedes do, Gothenburg is probably the better choice. However, for business, shopping, nightlife and culture, Stockholm is the better choice, and is a cleaner and often safer alternative to other large cities in Europe.

Best way to ship some household items from the US to Sweden?

I'm relocating to Sweden, and while I'm selling most of my stuff, I do need to ship all of my kitchen gear, my clothes, and some other personal affects like my sewing machine and some blankets that have special meaning to me... some tools... some books. I'd also love to bring my Queen-sized mattress topper, that thing is like sleeping on a cloud, it cost a fortune and its resale value is worth nothing. I live in Los Angeles but I'm not opposed to loading a small U-Haul and driving cross country if it's cheaper to bring it to an Eastern port. Anyone have an idea of what the best way is to go about shipping this stuff? Or... perhaps the better question is, what is the most *affordable* way of going about this? I've seen quotes range from $1000-$6000+, but I'm not moving furniture or anything. Just trying to get some ideas and estimates...

Hjälp! :)
Thanks,

What are some lesser-known sights to see when visiting Stockholm, Sweden?

Make sure to visit Millesgården. It’s an incredibly beautiful art gallery situated on Lidingö, an island north of Stockholm. To come Lidingö you travel the subway line 13 to Ropsten to the last stop and then you take bus or tram over to Lidingö. It’s a beautiful view. And then you there’s a ten minute walk from the station to the art gallery. Millesgården was the residence of art couple Carl and Olga Milles. There is a large gallery, showing art from around the world and hosting very interesting exhibitions. But the real charm is Skulpturparken, the sculpture park. The original works of Carl and Olga are put out in the park with a beautiful view over Stockholm. It looks like this from the outside:As you can see, the sculpture park is divided into several levels, which makes the it very beautiful and accentuates the beauty of the sculptures. You can walk around for hours and adore the views and the sculptures. You won’t be bored as there is plenty to discuss. This sculpture by Carl is called the Hand of God. Is the young man entering heaven? Has he been cast out? Or is he perhaps not allowed to enter? It’s a wonderful place, with beautiful exhibitions and a park with original sculptures. It’s a place to get lost in on purpose.

Is 40k SEK/m a good salary for full stack developer in Stockholm, Sweden?

Without knowing more than you posted, it seems like an okay salary to start with. It’s certainly way above average salary in Sweden. But if you are good you could probably work your way up to 50k in not too long, there is a lot of competition for good developers in Stockholm. If you’re mediocre, you should be happy.

What is the best country to live in, Sweden or the UK?

Best CapitalFor Stuff to do and places to explore = LondonFor relaxation and security = StockholmBest WeatherSummer = Both are around the same. Pleasant, sometimes warm and sometimes dull. Though the southern parts of the UK can get hot a few times a year which rarely occurs in Sweden.Winter = If you like a winter wonderland then Sweden. The Uk is milder, though rain and wind might be less desirable than Snow. It can be wet and drab in Sweden and it does snow in the UK, though just more so in Sweden.Best for SafetyMurder Rate = Higher in Sweden at 1.15 compared to the UK at 0.90Crime = Crime is in general higher in the Uk though it is usually minorBest for freedomTax = The UkFreedom of Speech = Maybe the UK, but neither are exactly global leaders in that right nowIt’s not only Germany that covers up mass sex attacks by migrant men… Sweden’s record is shameful | Coffee HouseRotherham child sexual exploitation scandal - WikipediaNatureDraw = Both have hilly, beautiful areas. If you like rock climbing, kayaking, hiking up hills then maybe the UK. If you like camping or hiking in forests then SwedenBest TransportAir Travel = The Uk. Has larger airports and cheap flights to Europe.Bus Travel = Draw. Both quite goodTrain Travel = Sweden. Cheaper.Car Travel = The UK. Sweden is more expensive to get your hands on a license and more difficult to pass your test.Value for MoneySwedens GDP PC is $53,000.UK GDP PC is $41,000.The Uk is more expensive to live than in Sweden, especially in London.Sweden Wins this oneBest for CultureDraw. Both have retained an amount of their culture whilst also having other cultures within them. Whether you think that is a good thing or a bad thing, all I can say is both countries have less desirable areas to live in where third world cultures bring higher crime and a lack of social order.Best for ArchitectureThe UK. The country has several hidden gems and I find whilst both countries suffer from brutalist, characterless architecture, it is more prevalent in Sweden. The UK : 9Sweden : 7The Uk wins

What's the weather like in Sweden in summer?

I live in the south of Norway, not far from Oslo and I know very well Sweden as it is a nice holidaying place for us: cheaper than Norway and friendly people! ;-)

The weather to expect in Sweden in July depends very much on where you are going to stay. If in the north, like in Kiruna, you will even experience the midnight sun! ;-)
But it may be cold ... or it may be hot! Yes, here is an interesting fact that we often forget: When there is a stationary high pressure, the sky is clear and the sun heats the earth. Usually, some of that heat radiates back into space during the night but, north of the polar circle, in July, the sun never sets and for as long as the high pressure lasts, it gets hotter. So, a place like Kiruna may have a temperature as high as 35 degrees Celsius! But then if the day after a low pressure moves in bringing colder air, it may drop to ... perhaps as low as 5 degrees Celsius.

I remember one year, sailing along the south-west Swedish coast and being at the Goteborg Yacht Club, reading 11 degrees Celsius on the thermometer, light rain and strong northerly wind. Brrrr!

But usually the average temperature for both Goteborg and Stockholm will be something like 18 degrees Celsius. That is from climatic table and the daily average temperature.

Otherwise, Sweden is like the rest of north Europe, under the influence of low pressures moving in from the Atlantic. But in the summer those move over Iceland and you only get a little bit of them as their tail sweep over the British islands and Scandinavia. If the Azores high pressure moves north, as it sometimes does, it blocks those low pressures and a stationary high pressure builds over the North Sea and Scandinavia. But it didn't happen last summer.

Incidentally, the most sunny place in Sweden is the island of Koster, not far from the Norwegian border. The reason is threefold:

1) there is a weather station on the island! ;-)
2) the island is close to mainland but far enough to not get the clouds from a sea breeze during the summer and,
3) the island is so close to Norway that it is in the shadow of the Norwegian cental plateau, thus protected from the wind from the south-west that often brings a lot of rain on the west coast of Norway.
