Why does new ipod show in "my computer" then disappear?
iPods look like a "memory stick" or "external drive" to a computer. When you first connect it, it shows as a drive, then when the driver fully loads, if you do not have the iPod set for "Enable disk use", the drive made inaccessable. So it disappears. You can use your iPod as an external drive by checking the "Enable disk use" option on the summary page in iTunes when your iPod is connected to your computer. That will make the drive icon remain visible. If you choose this option, make sure you "eject" the iPod before you disconnect it to make sure you don't corrupt the iPod.

The menu bar on my ipod's mail app is missing, how do I get it back?
Today when I went to check my mail on my third generation ipod touch I found that there was no menu bar (that allows you to scroll through your messages, go back and shows how many messages you have) at the top of the screen. Now I am stuck looking at only one message and unable to go to any others. There are no other problems with my ipod besides the missing menu. Does anyone have any ideas about how to get the menu bar back besides restoring the ipod because I do not want to do that as it is currently jail-broken.

your iPod 4g runs all the apps you have in the background even when you close them... open the multitasking feature by double tapping the home button and tapping and holding an app until it goes into "jiggle mode" and tap the red delete button until each app disappears... i've heard this can run down the battery even when you're not using it if that doesnt work and your iPod still dies from 70% in 8 hours, your iPod has a defective battery.. take it back to the store you bought it from and tell them the battery's defective, they'll replace it for you under warranty (or they should anyway)
