Why are my Computer Games running so slow?
my system specs Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate MOBO: ASUS M4N72-E CPU Type: AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0 CPU Speed (GHz): 3.0 System Memory (GB): 4.00 Video Card Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (x2 SLI'd) Desktop Resolution: 1680x1050 Hard Disk Size (GB): 500 Hard Disk Free Space (GB): 372 Just today I flashed my BIOS and updated the videocard drivers, cleaned up my disk and defragged it, it helped, but not by much. I feel my computer should be faster than it is. I'm only getting 10-15 FPS in 25m Icecrown Citadel in World of Warcraft. Of course all settings are on Ultra.

Well anything you download to your computer can make it slow. Or if its the online one (non-downloaded) you may just be using bandwith(spelling might be wrong) and it takes time for it to return to normal. Also you may just want to defrag your comp and maybe do a disk clean up.

Hey there, I'm having the same problem too. Just want to clarify whether you bought it or downloaded it first. Does the codemasters intro freeze your computer and does nothing for a few minutes? Is loading time slow? Does switching between screens to play a single player match lag and freeze? Well if you do, you have the same problem as me. My computer meets the requirements but it's not perfect. Still I'm able to play with hardly any problems and with lots of mods. Here are some things I've done ModsI have downloaded a lot of NRAAS mods. Particularly the Error Trap and Overwatch mods. They are good at identifying and fixing issues with the game.GraphicsI currently play with advanced rendering and object hiding off. I have most of the other graphics set to medium except Sim detail which is on high and edge smoothing which is on low. This works fine for me. I also have memories turned off! These clog up the game. ApplicationsI have downloaded several applications for the game. CC magic puts all of my Custom content packages into one file and it makes the game run faster. It can also be tricky to use so if you choose to do this, be careful! I love Save Cleaner. It allows me to backup my saves and it can reduce the size of a game. It's helpful. Cache files Lastly, I delete the 5 cache files found in my Sims 3 folder. These are recreated each time the game is restarted so it doesn't cause any problems.

Based on what You said I can only guess... "Passes the system requirements" by how much? If it's JUST BARELY, then that could be why. If your trying to run in WINDOW mode instead of FULLSCREEN, that usually causes slow-down unless you have a really really fast PC. Have you tried killing the Sound? That could speed it up as well. If you are in a BUSY area (lots of other players and stuff going on) You could just be laggy. Try getting to a less busy area (like inside a Mission). Also, Your Internet connection speed could be an issue. Some of the cheaper ISPs that offer "DSL SPEED" are JUST BARELY there (like 1-3 MBPS). The higher the speed the faster the game will run. Make sure your not running too much besides the game. And be sure to run a "Spyware/Adware" finder. Those can slow you down REALLY BAD.
