Why Do I Have One Swollen Tonsil

What should I do when I have one of my tonsils swollen? Few days back, I had sore throat and fever when my doctor said that the right side of my tonsil is swollen, and it should be removed by tonsillectomy. What are the natural ways to avoid it?

Normally, the doctor would prefer to treat the tonsilitis with antibiotics. Ask your doctor if this is an option (it could be viral). If the doctor tells you that antibiotics aren’t an option, or you consider antibiotics “unnatural”, then your only nonsurgical hope is prayer. You’ll need a lot of blessing, because tonsilitis can develop into rheumatic fever and nerve damage if untreated, because tonsilitis is frequently caused by a strep infection.Tonsilitis can also develop into a pus filled abcess, and if the diseased fluid gets into your blood, you could develop septicemia (blood poisoning) which in turn leads to multiple organ failure. If you’d like to avoid this kind of fate, listen to your doctor.

Can one swollen tonsil be a sign of hiv ?

i have a swollen tonsil for like 8 days now and i was assuming it was because i had a new ear piercing soo i took it out and i saw a little improvement in my tonsil no other oral problem although my (1) tonsil is swollen ....now yesterday a police man harass me for something i did not do and throw me on the floor .....etc went to the police station etc ( could it be the harassment or because i got injuries other places on my body?) this afternoon i felt behind my shoulder and felt a tender bump there like 3 cm maybe a swollen lymph node ...i think i might be infected with hiv although i did a hiv test within a month of exposure which is 75-90 percent accurate( results was a negative )...i have no other signs of hiv no tiredness ,rash, foul yeast infection or night sweat.

My tonsils are swollen??

That could be a nasty case of tonsilitus. To treat this they remove it or you just have to wait. Also, does anyone in your family or school have mono? It could be spread through coughing due to how contagious it is. If there are small or big white patches on your tonsils its most likley a sign of tonsilitus or mono. It could also be a bacterial or viral infection- there are many out there that cause those symptoms to your tonsils and they are usually not too hard to treat. But with mono, the symptoms are much more drastic and you instantly feel ill right away. You could probably tell if it was mono. Check in with your doctor, and see what tests they have to offer to you. They could give you a strept throat swab to see if you have strept, and they also offer blood tests to double check if its mono. For now, eat soft foods and rest your voice so you don't irritate your tonsils any more because the pain can be very bad. Also, buy some throat spray because it comes very handy. Good luck, and feel better soon.

I have one swollen/sore tonsil. What is the cause?

well, i can say that it's not from the hookah. i've smoked my hookah for a while now and i've never gotten sick from it. no one is going to get sick like that from smoking.. hookah or cig.

Well, unless you decided not to use a mouthpiece and one of your friends was sick.. and was a jerk for STILL sharing.

And i dont think it'd be from HIV/AIDS. HIV can stay in someone's system for YEARS and they wont even know they have it. but i'm sure when comes out the end result isn't something as miniscule as one swollen tonsil.

But in all seriousness, i think you're just a little sick. go check with a doctor. i'm sure he'll give you some antibiotics and you'll be good to go.

What is the best thing for swollen tonsils?

There is not much you can do about the swelling except treat the underlying infection if it is bacterial or wait if it is viral. The question I think you may be asking is what can we do about the pain of swollen tonsils, the sore throat? If that is the case let me share with you the best treatment I have found during 30 years of being a primary care physician.Gargling with Aspirin.Simple, cheap and surprisingly effective.I have reviewed hundreds of suggestions and folk remedies over the years, from the ubiquitous salt water gargles, through the commercial lozenges and teas, to all manner of strange, wonderful and useless herbal  products. NONE of them do very much on a consistent basis. My recommendation is save your money. As long as you don't have any reason not to be taking aspirin try this.Put 2 regular aspirin (325 mg each) in a half cup ( 100 ml) of lukewarm water. As long as they are uncoated they will dissolve very quickly. Stir it up and then gargle a mouthful  s-l-o-w-l-y and then swallow it. The longer it is in contact with the area of soreness the more relief you will get. Repeat until all the aspirin/water is gone. Wait about 20 minutes and then ask yourself "Do I feel better?" In general you can get about 50% relief of the pain. This will last about 4 hours and then wear off, as aspirin does. If it has been helpful, repeat every 4 hours. If the swelling persists then it is a good idea to see a doctor and discuss other diagnoses and treatment options.

Why is there a hole in my tonsil after I pushed my tonsil stone out?

If you see some small white or yellow small stones in your tonsils, they are actually not stones as my friend told me; my friend is a physician by the way, these white hard substances are food which has been pressed and deposited into your tonsils a long time to cause infection, if you use a Q-tip to dig them out, they look like small stones, they smell very bad, terrible smell, because they are rotten foods. That is why you have bad breath. See your doctor if he or she can help you. Maybe a surgery is needed to remove these tonsils. Consult your physician and ask his or her referral to see a specialist, an oral surgeon.
