If this disapers, then it is part of a deliberate policy to prevent reasoned debate about a serious subject. I have lived in the north of England and have seen this process occur in the last 30 years. Many of my friends were or are of asian origin, but why has this situation been allowed to arise?

Why do people answer questions on Quora?

TL;DR: Contributing to the community; sense of accomplishment in being able to help someone and to provide answers to the questions I’m most often asked :)Expanding on the above points:Contributing to the community: I have been using Quora for over 4–5 years now. I stopped using Quora for a period of time in between, but otherwise it has been a constant go-to site for me, much like Facebook. I’ve spent countless nights reading answers on Quora. Some funny answers, some life stories and some helpful answers. I always wondered if I could contribute to this community somehow, and in doing competitive programming, I have found just the means. Now, I write to contribute to this community I have gained so much from, in the hope that I inspire someone to do the same down the line.Helping others: I have studied everything I have learnt in competitive programming from online resources. Although most of these are on sites like CodeForces, Quora has also played its part. In particular, the best thing I have learnt on Quora is Dynamic Programming, from Michal Danilák’s answer: Tutorial on dynamic programming - top-down (memoization). This answer is everything I needed to know about basic DP and how to approach such problems. I hope to write an answer someday that can be as helpful. For now, I’m starting with the more basic questions.Frequently Asked Questions: As an active member of Competitive Programming community in India for the last 2 years, I receive a lot of queries on “How to start with Competitive Programming” or “Where should I learn C++ from”, etc. I have no issue with such questions, but I figured that writing an informative, elaborate answer on Quora by giving 1–2 hours to it would be better in the long run than answering these queries separately and in a hurry. This way, both the parties gain: One gets a more elaborate answer and the other does not have to write the same thing over and over again. If that isn’t more than enough, encouraging words of appreciation from occasional followers is a huge boost in itself :D

Quora: How do you post a question on Quora?

I like to post questions too. It's very common to have people misinterpret our questions because first we need to translate our thoughts into words that form a question whereby the answers will answer the real question in our mind and secondly others need to interpret our question. A lot of misinterpretation occur in these two 'connections' to our original thought. Then there are those who would speculate on the reason you asked the question or say that the question is stupid in an answer rather than a comment etc. Ignore such people or report them if they're rude. This will help discourage such actions on questions by others as well.My advice is to write as concise a question as possible and then fill in any details as required. The details should explain the context that gave rise to the question and whether you are looking for any specific type of answers. Of course some questions are simple or straightforward enough to not need details.Lastly add and remove topics to the question as appropriate as well. The automatic function of the Quora Content Review is far from perfect when you use certain terms or words that are ambiguous or have several meanings. Incorrectly linked topics will cause the question to be distributed to the feed of people who aren't interested in your answer and affect their Quora experience. The topics also help serve to define the context of the question. But more importantly the correctly selected topics would make your question appear in the feed of those interested and have the knowledge to answer your question well. This helps you get better answers.

Why are my questions not answered on Quora?

Why are my questions not answered on Quora??Hello Sameerah Imam,Your question got merged with a lot of others asking the same, so my response may get lost in the noise. Here it is, FWIW.Your questions are too vague. You need to give us something concrete to respond to. Your questions also have an air of self-pity. That's honest; and honesty is a very valuable attribute. But self-pity is not! Let's look at some of these questions. Why this office work is so boring?- vague, self-pity. Why don't you get some backbone and do something about it? "I sit at this desk pushing paper around, bored out of my mind. Should I quit and travel around like @Kanwal Anuvind? But what will I do for money?" 20 people will tell you to follow your dreams, 20 will tell you to keep your nose to the grindstone, and 1000 will tell you Kanwal has a job, he's no bum, and they resent the implication that he is!!!How do we segment internet users?- @Michael Cole's response is right on the money: "This question leaves so much to ambiguity I literally cannot bring on the sarcasm, it just isn’t working. Are you talking about WiFi? Wired? Enterprise networks? Metro Ethernets? Residential? Really this question begs the question, why do I waste the time?"I am confused about my feelings for someone how do I know that I am in love?- vague, confused, unattractive. How about "Sometimes I can't keep my hands off her, sometimes she bores me to tears. Am I in love or just horny?" That would get answered! What should I do when I am feeling extremely bored in my office and have nothing interesting around me?- 7 answers. See, you provided just enough detail to spark a little interest. What should I do when I’m extra hungry and have nothing to eat around me?- 3 answers. A marginal question. Immediate reaction is, why don't you get off your butt and go get some food? Gives the impression of a lazy, unfocused youth. "I'm chained to my desk and can't stop thinking about a burger and fries! What's a good quick snack for the office?"- You see what I mean. Stop floating with the tide, letting life kick you around. Start kicking back. Or at least, pretend to ... that's all the rest of us are doing.Good luck!

After I give a presentation I feel exhausted. Why does this happen? Am I too nervous?

This happens because you’re human. Presentations take a lot out of most presenters.I’m a public speaker and do presentations for a living.I also teach people how to be better presenters. Here is the process I go through. Before the presentation:Someone asks me to do a presentation. The subject is something I feel strongly about and I express interest in the opportunity.Details are sorted out and the gig is confirmed.A few days before the presentation:I feel stressed about this. It would have been easier to decline. The day before:Ack. Ack! WHY DID I AGREE TO DO THIS? WHY DO I KEEP DOING THIS TO MYSELF?A few minutes before the presentation:OH MY GOD I CAN'T BREATHE I CAN'T THINK I HAVE FORGOTTEN WHAT I WANTED TO SAY WHAT IS MY NAMERight before I walk on stage:WHERE IS THE BACK DOOR I WILL ESCAPE I WILL RUN FREE NO ONE WILL EVER FIND ME I WILL POST ON QUORA FROM REMOTE LOCATIONSAs I see people clapping after someone introduces me as the speaker:OK. OK. I can do this. Two minutes in:Huh. This is fun! This is actually fun.In the middle of the presentation:OH WOW I LOVE THIS I LOVE EVERYONE I AM SO HAPPY THIS IS MY LIFE BEST DAY EVERTowards the end of my presentation:I WANT TO TAKE EVERYONE HOME THEY ARE ALL SO BEAUTIFULAs I walk off the stage:I am so hungry. After food is provided:I need to go home and sit in a dark corner forever. Please go away.Another opportunity that is right for me will come and I will take it.It's a good chance to show my fear who is boss.

Can you post a picture as a proof that you are answering these questions yourself?

I’m an US army infantryman serving in Afghanistan so I cant post a pic as proof right now and my way of writing answers for Quora and then sending it is quite complicated and weird than others. Here’s how it goes——Iam busy fighting terrorists in North Afghanistan, I decide to write a answer but I cant ,so I use my walkie talkie to convey my answer to a fellow soldier stationed at a USAF base. The fellow soldier recieves my answer and forwards it to the POTUS .Before it can reach the POTUS, A USAF satellite recieves the signal( answer) sent by my fellow soldier. After recieving the answer in the form of signals, the satellite transmitts it to the POTUS’s phone. The POTUS comes to know about my ‘about to be published answer’ for Quora. He inspects it, discusses it in the congress and then a bill gets proposed—-The POTUS signs it and my answer gets approved. The POTUS declares the answer before publicAnd finally my answer gets posted on Quora. And guess what happens next?People cheer & laughDo I still need a proof?LOL. Yep I wrote it sarcastically and yep I do write my answers myself.Thankyou.
